I never wrote a review of a shoe in my 40 years of running but will opine on this one. It is a fantastic shoe. I had the 11 GTX version and now also have the Ghost 12 GTX and the regular (non-GTX) 12. Both the Ghost 12 GTX and Ghost 12 versions are really good and more lithe than the 11's as they reduced some of the weight. Somehow they seem to have alleviated my plantar fasciitis and important for me the higher drop allows me to run pain-free in my troublesome calf. They are more padded than the Saucony shoes I formerly wore and may not be perfect for races but for training, for me they are superb. Just finished an 8 mile run. While a really big thing, the style of the black versions are nice and I wear them to restaurants sometimes and they look ok there.

Love them. A bit tighter fit than others, but the support is great.

Waterproofing on the shoe causes them to be a bit tight in the width of the shoe. A half size bigger seems better, but is still a bit smaller then the normal width.

I found this shoe to be warm on very cold days but were a 1/2 size short and narrow. I have about 50 miles on these shoes and will only be using them for occasional bad weather days.

Two factors weighed into my decision to return these. While I have used the non-GTX Ghost before, these felt stiffer across the top of my feet and left me in pain for a week after a short break-in run. This was an experience that I have never had before in running in many, many pairs of Brooks over the last several years. Secondly, I need some support in my shoes and wonder why, if Brooks is going to offer a Gore-Tex option, it would not be available in the more popular Adrenaline model.

These fit great and were comfortable. They are supposed to be gortex, waterproof. The first day they leaked and my feet were wet. I wasn't walking in puddles only periodically in wet grass and my socks were wet. I have other gortex athletic shoes and my feet stay dry throughout the day. I love and appreciate zappos for allowing you to try and return. I would have kept them if they kept my feet dry. I also tried the Glycerin and it is very comfortable. I have to walk all day long for my job and the Glycerin is great.

I love the GTX concept. I'm on my second pair of the Ghost 11 GTX. I originally bought this in my regular size. Had to exchange it for a 1/2 size bigger and went ahead and bought the ghost 11 GTX with it. Comparing the ghost 12 gtx and the ghost 11 gtx, I found I like the ergonomics of the ghost 11 gtx better. The ghost 12 gtx is a little tight around the toe box and the sole is a little stiff out of the box. I tried breaking in the shoes, which is unlike any of the the other ghosts I've owned in the past, but that didn't turn out very well. My feet still hurts and ache. I mainly wear the ghost 12 gtx when working out and running on a treadmill to get more life out it but it still was stiffer and less comfortable than the ghost 11 gtx (I wear the ghost 11 gtx at work as an ICU nurse, they get roughly 13-14 hours and roughly 7 miles of wear at a time for 3-4 days a week) on hard flooring. Once my ghost 11 gtx work shoes wear out, I may give this another shot since GTX is a must for me at work. Hopefully, by then the kinks are ironed out. I'll probably order a full one size up and

Have not used these shoes for running yet. This shoe is excellent choice for winter months in the pacific northwest because the ground is always wet. No it's not a climbing or mountaineering shoe! Brooks customer service is what makes me a returning customer. IMO this shoe is much lighter than the Salmon Gore tex trail running shoes. My feet don't sweat in the Ghost 12 GTX prob bc itsmuch more breathable compared to Salmon's Gore Tex shoes. For some reason Salmon's Gore tex shoes wear out extremely fast. I look forward to buying brook shoes in the future!

These shoes are excellent! They fit a little tight at first but when I wore them a couple of days and found the right adjustment for the strings it was fine. They are perfect for the wet grass and are warmer than the regular Ghost 12.

Great waterproof trail shoe for both running and hiking. Also, good go to shoe for damp fall and winter days for daily use.

My husband loves the Ghost line of Brooks shoes and has worn them for years. However, shortly after receiving this last pair, we lost our home in a fire, losing the new pair along with all our possessions. We assume the new pair would have held up like the others, so I'm still giving them 5 stars!

The Ghost 12 GTX is so comfortable and durable. I am still wearing my Ghost 8 GTX although not for working out.

I'm not a runner but I do walk on a treadmill regularly at a speed of 3 mph for 30 minutes. For this exercise I use the Ghost 12 GTX shoes and the Brooks Levitate 3. Both give the support and comfort that I have come to expect from Brooks.

Usually only by narrow width, but these fit well with thick socks. Very comfortable and I love the sewn in tongue. Perfect for cool, cold and wet walks

Only sneaker I ever wear. Love it. I literally got rid of all my sneakers and wear these now. They don't try to "narrow your foot" for style as Nike does. They fit your foot as it's supposed to. I use them for everything

True to size. If you have a wide foot it takes a couple uses until it stretches out. Very soft sole. Like walking on soft foam. These replaced my Ghost 11. I run thru snow in winter so I've been buying Ghost (gortex) for a number of years. The 12's are an improvement over the 11's.

I've worn Brooks shoes for running for the past 20 years or so. When I was in the market for a pair of waterproof shoes for home maintenance work, I decided to give their GTX line a try. In my "normal" shoes, my socks are soaked when I use our powerwasher. I used it again last weekend, while wearing these shoes, and my socks and feet are completely dry. When I go walk in tall grass in the morning dew, my feet no longer get wet either. These shoes are great to keep your feet dry and I've decided that these will now be my go-to shoes for all outside work (home maintenance, auto maintenance/work, walking around the block, going to the store, ....). I don't like changing footwear throughout the day if I can avoid it, so this pair I can put on i the morning, tackle some tasks (or even go on a brief walk or run if I get the urge), and have them on until the end of the day. The only thing that I did note is that the width in this shoe does not come in a narrow size (which is what I use). Other than that, they feel good, fit great, and I like these quite a bit.

These are definitely well constructed shoes. The treads are perfect for walking or biking. I would definitely buy again! They feel much more heavy duty than your Nikes, etc.
