Improved from last time I ordered these. More versatile without the orange detail around ankle. A bit clunky, but narrow selections are rare.

I returned these because the fit wasn't quite right. I usually wear 11.5 N but got M in this; perhaps the N wasn't available--I don't remember. I felt the shoes were too heavy compared to the Brooks Glycerin 17 I purchased instead. Also, no surprise, the heels in the M width were very much too wide, though the toe area was better than that in the N width usually is. Also, a bit of vanity--these shoes made my feet look bigger than the Brooks shoes.

These would have been great for my double wide feet, but the toe box was SHORT. I was so disappointed as I am struggling to find shoes after pregnancy, and these actually fit, except for the extreme rubbing of my toe on the top of the shoe.

These come up too high around my ankles. very comfortable otherwise.

I've worn these shoes for over a year so I'm writing from my experience. They were too narrow in the toe box so I returned and ordered Wide. I thought that would work, but as the day went on and my foot swelled some, they were still way too tight in the toebox, and that area is not deep enough. The top of the shoe, where the leather inlay crosses over the mesh, pressed against my big toe and caused pain, redness and swelling -- even my toenail was sore! So I can only give these 3 Stars because they need much more depth and width in the toe area to be comfortable and not cause foot issues and pain.

Black is tighter and more narrow than the Grey/Castlerock and Navy colors. I have both, then decided to order in Black. Very strange, they must be made in another facility. The mesh inside around the ankle is a rough material, not as comfy as in grey and navy colors. And the black shoes are tighter all over than the other two colors. I love the 990v5 in Grey and Navy but had to send the Black ones back. Too uncomfortable around my ankles.

I own the Gray and also the Navy 990v5 and they fit perfectly, my usual 6.5 D. I decided to order the Black in the same size and they are tight all over in the width! Weird, frustrating, disappointing. Supposedly all the color choices for the 990v5 are made in the USA, so why can't the sizing be consistent? I returned the Black D width and ordered a a 2E (double wide). They are not any wider than the D width and they are still tight in the mid-foot! So strange because my Gray and Navy colors in D width are just right. New Balance needs some better quality control. Their sizing consistency is really lacking.

This is strange but true. It happened to me with the 990v4 and now again with the 990v5. I ordered my usual 6 B in Navy. Fit perfect. Nice roomy toe box. So I then ordered the Grey color in same size, 6B. The Grey shoes are shorter in length and tight in toe box! So tight I feel I need a Wide. I'm going to have to return them. Same thing happened to me with the 990v4. The Black color was sized differently than the Grey. Why can't New Balance remain consistent in the sizing of this shoe? Some serious quality control is needed. Be aware that if you order the 990 in different colors the sizing will not be the same. Disappointing. It's a great shoe and would be a perfect shoe if the sizing was consistent in every color.

These were supposed to be Xtra Wide, way too small, terrible fit, returned.

Not enough cushion and support for over-pronation. Toe box felt crowded.

These shoes were recommended on a different website for people suffering with Achilles tendonitis. I found them to be very heavy and while they supported my heel, after walking a mile in them, my foot ached for the next 24 hours. I would not recommend.

As other reviewers have mentioned, these are short and have a narrow toe box. I didn’t realize it until it I’d worn them outside—lots of $$$ down the drain.

Front of shoe felt amazing; finally relief from bunions/corns with extra wide, well padded workout shoe. BUT, with this came a wider then usual heel, had to tighten laces to the point of pain to keep heel from slipping. Wish they would have worked!

It just didn't feel right. The shoe felt like it was too long and my foot hit in the wrong place at the metatarcil so I was walking funny. I could have probably used a half size smaller and a width larger. I got the 8 EE.

I have worn these shoes for many years and always size 8.5 B have fit. However, recently ordered this size, and they were too small. However, when I ordered size 9B, they were too big. Will not try again.
