I use these shoes for doing my daily 5 mile walks. I love these shoes. I have Plantar fascitis and have had surgery on my feet, and since I been wearing the New Balance shoes I have had no problem in years. This is my 3rd pair and will continue to wear these as long as they make them.

This shoe is my long-standing favorite. I experiment with a few of the colors sometimes. I am delighted that it is always available, because it is the perfect comfort fit for me for everyday. I take a wide size, and wear it with orthotics. The navy goes exceptionally well with blue jeans.

I am very satisfied with my black 990v5. My podiatrist suggested New Balance.
My mother, 82 yrs old, loves 990v5 in grey, wide width, for bunion issues. I got medium width and placed prosthetic insoles for additional support.

I've worn this shoe, and the various earlier numeric variations, for over 25 years. The fit in the heel is great (I have narrow heels). I used to run and now walk a lot and these shoes hold up. Don't try to redesign or add trendy "style" things what's important is a constant quality level and American manufacturing.

After wearing different models of NB over the years, these are the best of the best. If you need solid but comfy walking shoes with a ton of support and no ankle rolling....you will love these shoes!

990's are the best shoes ever! I wear them every day and have never had any pain in my feet. I have neuropathy and plantar fasciitis. I wear orthotics in these shoes and they fit perfectly. I also love the fact they are made in the USA.

I have arthritis very bad in my feet, and I have worn New Balance for years on the recommendation of my doctor. But these are certainly the most expensive pair I have bought. But best money ever spent. First time my feet have felt good in years!

I've tried other shoes, but came back to these. They provide the best support for my feet. I use orthotics in them and never have a bit of foot pain. And I love the blue color!

I walk 4-5 miles a day and have been using these shoes for years. I buy the extra wide as I am elderly (70) and periodically get corns. The podiatrist says these are still the best shoes available for me. On his recommendation I do replace the insert with Powerstep Pinnacle Maxx orthotic insoles. I wish New Balance either made shoes for people with adult onset flat feet or made insoles I could order with the shoes. Still, I just keep some inserts on hand so I have them when I replace the shoes, which I do regularly. That has been a reasonable solution.

The NB 990's were prescribed for me by my surgeon after surgery 15 years ago and I have worn them ever since as my main shoes, changing at least twice a year to maintain my foot health post-surgery and prevent further damage with arthritis. They save me! I use my professional, customized orthotic and I am good to go all day in these shoes. I have my "special occasion" shoes and boots, but spend most of my waking and walking time in the 990's. Thank goodness NB keeps making them! This size W's 11.5 is hard to find in stores, so I turn to Zappos.

Walk 5+ miles daily. Needed a well made walking sneaker. Will see how the tread holds up. I needed the wide width as the medium width was a little too tight in the toe box. At least now I can also use a thicker sock as the weather gets colder. Super happy these are Made in the USA!!!

I work on hard surface floor for 8 hours,and when I bought these no more back pain.I could take every step in stride and comfort.Comfortable enough to were for any occasion work and play,shopping or casual wear.Great colors to wear with any attire.True to fit.I love these shoes.

These are just perfect. I bought a pair of the moonstone color to wear indoors for my new work from home. They are so comfortable: very light, very cushy, smooth and soft inside. Yet the are also stable and supportive. They are more than I'd normally spend, A few weeks ago I wore out my outdoor shoes for walking and hiking. I love these so much that I bought a black pair too for outside. They are just great on wet surfaces. They can't take the place of hiking shoes of course, but they cover most of my walking. I love that they are made in the USA. That was the reason I took a gamble on the first pair and spent so much. They are worth every penny. I don't have foot problems per se, but have high arches and am prone to arch and heel inflammation. I had acute tendon pain earlier in the year, but it's much better with vigilant stretching and these comfy, sturdy shoes.

I use the shoes for walking. They are extremely comfortable, and have a large toebox without looking wide or unattractive. I am very happy with the shoes, they were comfortable and required no break-in.

I've been purchasing this shoe for many years now and New Balance Company has kept the quality and fit the same much to my undying gratitude. It's an excellent quality product that provides support, comfort and long wearability. I hope they will continue to carry this shoe as it is without a doubt my very favorite shoe.
