I've worn this model - several versions - for over 20 years and, more recently, in the 6E width. Always felt good, but not quite wide enough (!). The material at the outside of the widest part of my foot tears after a few months (~ 250-300 miles). I changed the lacing pattern (skipped the 2nd hole from the toe and tie across "loops" made between holes 5 and 7)...Much,, much better. I'll report back after a few hundred miles.

These are by far the best "daily driver" sneaker I have owned in a long time. The are both modern and retro, and pair easily with jeans, joggers, shorts, etc. Tied or untied, they excel at being comfortable. After a year of pretty solid use mine are holding up really well. Are they a little pricey? Yeah, but there is a premium for the American Made which I'm personally happy to pay.
If there was a "miss" with this shoe - and it really isn't one - it's the weight. I wouldn't recommend them as a pure runner as they are fairly heavy. They are fine for for a couple miles at the gym but I'd choose differently for anything over that.
Overall, will buy again. Very happy.

Have been a New Balance fan for years. There athletic shoes are great quality and comfortable. I use them for walking as well as jogging. I prefer a heavier shoe for balance and stability and have been very pleased.

'Discovered New Balance running shoes 45 years ago. I was running 70 miles a week; 'knees had been swelling and the shoes I was wearing at the time were falling apart every 60 days. Another runner suggested New Balance for people weighing over 200 pounds. I don't run anymore but still require a great arch support for the walking I do now. Thanks for producing a shoe that takes care of me instead of the other way around.

Made in USA New Balance 990s,, First shipment went to wrong address, Zappos overnight-ed a second pair, Couldn't ask for better customer service. Quality is definitely better than usual and worth the extra few dollars. Will be using them again as very impressed with speed of service. Too bad someone downtown got a pair of expensive size 15 they can't wear.

This is the 3rd pair of NB M990GL5's I've owned. Very comfortable and durable shoe. I use orthotics and even with them installed there is still plenty of room and inside the shoe so that my feet don't feel cramped or hot. As an added bonus they are made in the USA..! Awesome job everyone Awesome..!
