The name and numbers have changed through the years but the fit and comfort have always been the same perfect

Had the shoes for 3 weeks now. They look and feel great. I wanted a sneaker made in the USA that came in a wide size , and these are perfect.

The shoes fit very well and run a little small. They are very comfortable and provide excellent support. The grey is very stylish and versatile. I highly recommend the shoes for anyone interested in style and comfort!

Far Superior in Design, Materials, and Construction, this shoe corrects faulty mechanics of running and walking. Sizing returns to the traditional American standards. I purchased New Balance Fresh Foam 860's (made in Indonesia) in 8.5 Extra Wide and found them to be just barely large enough. While searching for a better option, I put 25 to 30 miles per week on them while battling foot and knee pain. At my brother's suggestion, I googled "running shoes made in America" and found that the New Balance 990's were the only ones that were made in America and offered in wide widths with high support and stability. I ordered Men's 8.5 extra wide and they were too large. So I returned them for Men's Size 8 Extra Wide, which was my size before almost all the running shoes started being manufactured in Asia and South America. The New Balance Made in the USA 990v5 felt great when I first put them on. Within days, my foot and knee pain subsided almost completely. After three weeks of walking and running in the 990's, I don't want to take them off! I just want to buy more. My dreams of foot comfort have been realized. Wishing for New Balance to make a waterproof hiking shoe or boot version.

He really likes them. No need for other insoles, which is new for him. They look great, too.

Fit well and are comfortable. Wonder how long the soles will last. My 990v4s' soles didn't last as long as did the soles on my 990v3s. Was willing to pay about $100 to an outfit that resoles boots and athletic shoes, but that outfit told me my 990v4s' soles were too far gone. A shame because the v4s' uppers held up very well, as did those on my v3s.

I liked this shoes for its quality. I would more happy if in next version it can be more breathable.

I walk 4-5 days a week for 3.5 - 5 miles a day, about half the time on concrete or asphalt and the rest on grass or dirt trails. These shoes were comfortable immediately. Provide good support and cushioning and the tread pattern is adequate for traction on modest trails. The only negative is the cost.

Most comfortable shoe in my 67 years. Thankful they still make extra wide. Never spent that much on a pair before, but if putting the best tires on your car is important, how important are the cushions for your body? Very, especially for the elderly. More than satisfied.

I am 72 very active but had two back surgeries and sever sciatica. I bought a pair of these and thought the world had changed. I walked Disneyland with my grand kids for 12 hours and went 8 miles for the first time in 15 years. I out walked the whole family I came home and bought another pair in a different color. These are the best. Only buy the American made ones. Worth every dime.

I have been wearing New Balance 990's for over 25 years ... although the name may have changed during those 3 decades. Still the best shoe ever!

I have a difficult situation with my feet and these sneakers are the most comfortable I have ever worn. I have purchased many pairs over the years. My only disappointment is that it seems that New Balance seems to be cutting back on the wide width which I need in Navy.
