Keep buying these and they wear out after 5 months. Toe holes in the mesh after about 90 days :( Time to try something else.

The shoes fit and feel good. Unfortunately the quality is subpar for being a US made and for the price.

I am 73 years old and as such I need a comfortable and supportive walking shoe for my early morning hikes. I walk for one hour. For the first 40 minutes all is fine but thereafter the shoe developes "shoe fatigue." The comfort diminishes and I start to feel the surface irregularities and hardness of the pavement through the sole. I am 6 feet tall and weigh 175 pounds. I would have bought a higher grade New Balance model shoe and have done so in the past but none were available.

The material & construction were excellent. But, there must be away to measure the width & select the appropriate width accordingly. I approached your Twitter account, and they couldn't help select the correct width.

For years I have order my 990V5 or 993 / D. But this order, I did not get the right with. I followed the instructions and send it back. Waited till my card was reimbursed and ordered it again. Now I got 2E. Not as nice of a fit, but I was on vacation in Mississippi and kept it. Not a happy long time consumer and will consider other shoes after many years.

I've put off buying these shoes for the past 5 years and finally decided to splurge. Overall just a less than adequate pair of shoes. The shoe box has more style than the shoes do.

My 20-something son has been wearing NB 990s forever. I bought him this pair in his usual size, but he said they were too tight across the toes. I needed to return them. The shoes otherwise seem like the usual good NB shoes. The sizing is the only problem.

This model fits good and appears to be well made. I've had a prior version and tried the V5, but decided to return. It's way overpriced and the style needs updating. The suede look just doesn't work and is hard to keep clean, even in black. NB Fresh Foam line is more comfortable, although most of those styles/colors are a little ridiculous.

I bought the 990v5 shoe for walking daily. Previously I have used the 928 shoe for many years. The 990 shoe feels like you are walking on ICE when you hit wet concrete. Hoping it will get better with wear but I can see by the tread pattern this must be a known issue. Never had this problem with the 928. Guess I will go back to them if I don't fall and break something walking in these. Fortunately in Vegas it is dry most of the time but sprinklers on the sidewalk create a hazardous situation. BEWARE!!!

I bought 12, 4ee and they were to big, went down to 11.5 4ee and too small and narrow at toe box which these used to have wide toe box. I am buying 12’s again and will try custom inserts. All the shoes I am getting suck. Asics gel nimbus are hard as a rock, Brooks Glycerine are narrow, Hoka I would compare running to sleeping on a bad mattress. I have been wearing NB 1080’s for a couple years and the new ones have no arch support. So my 1 year old 1080’s right now are my most comfortable shoe and they are completely worn out.

Probably the best shoes I purchased...this is the second pair...anyways great shoe...low stock in my size...not the color I really wanted, but I bought them because after months of waiting this color was the only one available...seems like a company the size of New Balance would keep stocked...

Have been wearing NB for 20 plus years and this is the first model I have experienced a quality issue. As you can see from the picture the mesh has started to separate.

Best, most comfortable shoes I've ever worn. Love them! Well made and long lasting! Purchased another pair in case New Balance ever discontinues the style.

These are good shoes but they have too much cushioning. They fit well but still feel big due to the very thick soles. I decided to try these after wearing Brooks for quite some time. Will keep these because they look great but will stick with Brooks most of the time as they feel more stable.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks

The 990v5s I received were good quality and faultless workmanship. The shoelaces were however are very thin and very cheap looking. They are nothing like the laces on the NBs I've bought in the past. Will have pay $8.50 for quality laces.

The shoes are great, but as the price approaches $200 they are becoming too expensive for this sort of average retired guy. Suggest you work on cost (or margin) reduction if you ever want to have me by another pair.

I use these shoes as work shoes in my home healthcare work. They are very comfortable and supportive. Unfortunately, they squeak when I walk in them to the level where people with hearing damage have noticed.

While the sneaker light weight, it is still supportive. I'm not a huge fan of the extra cushion. It feels like your standing on memory foam at first. While it is comparable to 993, being young, I'd still opt for the heavier sneaker for stability.

The 990v5 is one of the few running shoes available in a 6E width. In my experience, shoes have gotten narrower, and shoe makers seem not interested in the wide width market. Most 4E width shoes are now basically a 2E. As I expected, the 6E in this shoes is basically a 4E. The shoe is a bit heavy, and feels awkward at the heel. The tongue is a bit short. Colors are limited. It is quite expensive, but touts that it is made in the U.S. But on the positive side, it is roomy enough for my wide feet, with a roomy toe box.
I'd also recommend:
Brooks Ghost11. Best shoe ever - a true 4E width! (Newer versions are too narrow.

I received my new shoes. Much to my disappointment they had white laces. I contacted customer service to see about getting them switched out for grey laces. Again customer service was very blunt and said white is the color that comes with those shoes and that was it. I have purchased these before and have gotten grey laces. The response was terse and cold.

NB running shoes and cross-trainers are great. However, my last order was originally cancelled because out of stock, and NB had not restored by discount coupon to my account. I texted and emailed customer service, who took a week to respond. By that time I had called and taken care of the issue. Response time should be within 2 business days.

May not have been right fit, but I bought this per podiatrist's recommendations for better support. I have post tibial tendinitis due to underpronation. It was quite uncomfortable and I actually injured my knee while wearing it on treadmill for first time. I immediately went to Nb store to get refunded and got 880 version 10'which worked much better
