I have used New Balance shoes for years . This is the first time I used online mail order. I had the previous version of this shoe which was great. When I received this recent pair it fit like a glove. Well styled and very comfortable for walking and general everyday use. I plan to keep using New Balance since they don't disappoint.

I use this shoe as an all around casual walking shoe, hiking on trails, as well as working out in the gym. It's a great shoe and I was sorry when the price went up significantly and am looking for an alternative option. I really appreciate that it comes in various wide widths and look to New Balance first to meet my needs for a wide shoe.

These shoes are light, comfortable and sturdy. My first pair lasted a long while (990v4s). Look forward to breaking in this new pair. So glad they are Made in The USA!

I use the Model 990V5 walking shoe as my every day shoe. It is very comfortable for somebody who, due to a medical condition, increased my shoe size from a 12 to a 14, at 71-years of age. While the shoe is not water resistant and I get wet toes when walking my dogs on wet grass, they still breathe and are very comfortable.

I have used the 990 series (990, 992, 993) and different versions for 30 years. The 990's that came out a few years ago were great. They lasted longer than the 993's I had been using. But the new version (V5) is terrible. My legs and hips ache after walking for an hour with the v5's. Not sure what changed but for me it has been a disaster. Now have to shop for other brands unless you can bring the V4's back.

For the last three years I have been wearing NB 990v4s in 11D, mostly for running (about 8-12 miles a week) and some walking around the house/yard. I called NB customer service to ask if my current 11D would stay true in the 990v5, and they said 'yes, stay with the same size.' Well, they were right. The 990v5 in 11D feels terrific right out of the box. The sneaker is snug/secure (in a good way) around the entire foot, while only using about 70% of the lacing capability. As the shoe breaks in and stretches over time, I still have the 30% of lacing capability remaining to keep the snug fit I was used to when the sneaker was new. With my 990v4s, I really had to crank hard on the laces to ensure a snug fit when they were new, so I had no lacing/tightening capability in reserve as the sneaker stretched out over time. All in all, very happy with initial fit, construction/design, aesthetic appeal, and unboxing first impressions.

Been with NB alot of years and have to say the Classic 990 on up through the numbers and versions are the standard. I have tried other brands and always come back for the true fit and comfort. This V5 is no exception. I am a large runner/walker and find the V5 to work better for me than even the NB940 recommended for hefty men. They are pricey but worth it!

Paid over $200.00 for each pair and upon receiving the product the sizing was a 1/2 size large and little arch support? Than after one month of wearing the product the soles started cracking loose from the upper and the actual sole coming loose from the main body. One pair was for my son and both of us have had to quit wearing them.
