I was a little skeptical about ordering these because of all the poor reviews. I literally live in Chacos for most of the year as it’s hot in Florida 10 months out of the year. But I needed something with a closed toe to go camping with my daughter’s American Heritage Girls troop. Keen doesn’t have enough arch support, so I opted for the odyssey. I typically wear a 6 in Chaco sandals, but I ordered a 7 in the odyssey to allow for more toe room. I LOVE them! The arch support is really nice, just like the footbed of the sandals. I have a high arch so I didn’t need to tighten the straps much at all. The strap does not touch the ground when I walk. I ordered the “most quail” color and it’s a light gray color with lavender, peach and bluish/gray throughout the mesh portion of the shoe. I’m looking forward to using this as my “winter Chaco”.

I was very worried about these as they are a new product and I have never tried them on before. They are great. I wore them all day and they provided great support for these old, arthritic feet. The best part was that I could loosen the strap over the top when the top of my foot started to hurt as it does a lot. These are perfect for wide feet with a high instep. They are cute and have a very firm arch support.

Love the support of these shoes! I had s recent foot injury and needed metatarsal support. I haven’t taken these shoes off since they arrived because of the comfort they provide! You can adjust the straps for more support.

I wanted to love these. I am obsessed with my other pair of Chacos Classic sandals and my pair of Chacos dressy sandals. But these sandals did not quite fit. I ordered a size 8 and a size 9, and the size 8 was a bit too small and the size 9 was far too large. I wish the back heel had an adjustable strap, as that may have solved my problem on the size 9. The style was okay -- my husband said they looked a bit clunky, and I don't particularly think they look like they're worth $100. I can definitely see the complaint another reviewer had that river rocks would get inside the shoe easily and be difficult to get out without removing the whole shoe. The shoe was comfortable, but the sole did not feel as solid as my Chaco Classic. If the shoe had fit, I would have kept it and loved it, despite these minor flaws. But alas, not in the cards for me. I am trying some Keens instead. I hope these Chacos work for you!

I am very excited about these shoes as they fit my arch perfectly. I have a very high arch and most shoes do not work at all. When I find a pair that works, I have to purchase them -- these are keepers! I see that not everyone rated these as "excellent arch support" -- I do not believe that very many people's arches are higher than mine (according to podiatrists and shoe sales people), so I'm not quite sure where those comments come from. I will know more when I get to wear them all day on vacation.

I wanted to love these, as I’ve worn Chacos in various forms (sandals, flips, boots, shoes) for over a decade, and wanted a closed-toe sandal. I bought the black after seeing and trying the “wax iron” in a local store. The toe box is roomy, the tred is good on dry land, and the mesh is comfortable. Unfortunately, the sole feels very different from other pairs: the heel is lower, the arch is shorter and less pronounced, it becomes alarmingly slippery when wet (inside and out) and it’s it just isn’t as supportive or resilient as other pairs of Chaco sandals/water shoes. The black color also looks really cheap—like something you’d get at a discount store. The mesh stays wet *forever* which makes them not great for multi-purpose use. There were MAJOR problems with the straps. The strap that you pull to tighten them was freakishly, comically long. I have average foot volume and average to a bit larger ankles. I never have issues with too much strap, and I had to cut a couple of inches off the pull strap because it was literally trailing on the floor and had a big, loose, loopy tag. The mesh was sized right and was comfortable, but after a couple of casual wearings I needed to cinch them up and found that either the Z-strap was defective and cut way too long, or there was a bizarre design flaw, but the Z-strap, when pulled as tight as it would go was still loose enough that I could fit my whole hand in there thus making it entirely non-functional. I will have to take them to a cobbler to be altered to make the shoes wearable for anything other than strolling slowly through a grocery store or something. They are useless in their current state. I was extremely disappointed by Chaco’s customer service (they take weeks to respond, and are remarkably unhelpful—really off-putting). I do not recommend the Chaco Odyssey.

I have a VERY high arch with placement being an issue in most shoes. These are one of the most amazingly-well fitting shoes I have ever owned. I have spent much of the summer in them (instead of my usual flip-flops). They have been awesome on 4 trips--both by plane and by car. Walking about in nature and in town--so comfortable. I want another cute color, so am waiting to see what they bring out next. (I have the pale gray, which is very easy to keep clean.) Thank you Chaco -- you make many shoes I cannot wear, but the originals "flips" and these are my go to shoes!

The minute I stepped into this Odyssey Sandal, I felt like I was walking on air! They were soooo comfortable, but at the same time, gave me support where I needed it: due to a stroke several years ago, I pronate my right foot, and Chaco's has found a way for sandals to work against this constant foot pronation! Sandals! Love these: and will probably buy another color next month (can only afford one each month...) Excellent sandals: I can get them wet, they won't sweat, they're the best you can get!

I love these shoes. I have a high instep and require firm arch support...these fit the bill without being “too much”...these were comfortable right out of the box. My only complaint is that they are slippery on wet tile. I swim every day and hoped these would be a little more “grippy” on the pool deck & in the locker room...other than that... I love them!

I am generally an 8 in any lace-up hiking style shoe - Merrells, etc. I also got an 8 in my Chaco sandals. I got an 8 in this and it was perfect! The strap is really nice for making as secure or loose as you like. The heel strap is soft and does not rub. My feet tend to swell when I am on them all day and this is the perfect shoe for that. It’s nice having toe protection if you are doing something active; not worrying about getting them wet if need be, and on days when you haven’t had time for a pedicure! I wore them for 4.5 days straight walking all over Chicago - straight out of the box, which is unheard of for me. Easy slip on and off at the airport. I would not pass these up. I got the wax iron and at first it looks green with gray, but it seems to blend with anything I wore - tan, gray, jeans, army green, navy.

I was hesitant to try this shoe but my daughter is a huge Chaco fan and now I understand why! I could keep these on 24/7, they are so comfortable! Having had issues with footwear due to poor support these are amazing! Plus they make your feet look tiny which makes me smile. Worth every penny and then some!

The Odyssey is very cute but the fit is not. I have a normal width foot. These shoes are too narrow! They were also too small in length. I wear a 7 or 7 1/2. I ordered a 7. I should have moved up to an 8. I think if you have a medium width foot, the shoe will be too narrow for comfort.

I am sad and disappointed that I needed to return these sandals. They are nice looking sandals and well made. They have the best arch support, of any sandal that I have tried. The left sandal fit my foot perfectly. However, this was another matter with my right foot, which is slightly bigger. With the right sandal my big toe hit the side of the end cap of the sandal, as did my little toe. I knew with the material that the end cap is made from that it would not stretch. With the price of the sandals, I knew sending them back was needed. These sandals are lovely looking sandals, albeit I believe they are a bit over priced. I have the Chaco Z original sandal, and knew from that I would need to go down one whole size to gain the proper fit, as this would put the arch in the correct place for my foot. Unfortunately, Chaco sandals only come in whole sizes. A half size up might have fixed the problems of my toes hitting the end cap on the right foot, however, there are no half sizes. I ordered a different style Chaco sandal, which is supposed to be delivered tomorrow, and I am hopeful that this sandal will work. I have picky feet, back, knee and hips issues.

I tried Keen and Merrell too but kept these. They fit true to size with good support for my high arches. I wish the straps were a smidge shorter bc they drag the ground when I walk. Really like the closed-toe-but-sandal design and the meshy airiness of the top. would prefer a simple gray with no accent colors but this navy combo is pretty neutral.

I typically wear a size 5 ½ so I ordered a size 6, they were way too long. I exchanged them for a 5. There is definitely enough room for wiggling toes and to compensate for any late day swelling. I highly recommend these. The arch support is perfect and after wearing them all day, they’re still super comfortable and no breaking in period required. The cost was on the high end of what I like to pay, I’m retired and on a budget. I easily rationalized the purchase as I still have a pair of Z Cloud sandals that are 20 yrs. old, and have only had to have them re-strapped once.

i love the look and had high hopes but found them smaller than I need for my wide foot and arch support did not hit my very flat foot comfortably. They sadly must go back

I was excited actually to be able to purchase in my size a sandal designed for a woman. It was all I could do to resist the pink ones! As other reviewers have commented, the strap across the instep is too long for me. So far it has not been a problem; if it is I will simply put a stitch in it to double it over itself. The arch support on the left foot is a bit too much for me, but I am quickly becoming used to it. I appreciate the availability of closed toe sandals. While my toes are not ugly and the nails are painted I tend to trip in open toed sandals and would rather not take that risk.

This is my second pair. Only complaint is the strap that adjusts your foot into the sandal is way too long if pulled to the end. When walking you can step on it causing you to dip. I do believe this can be an issue with many women. They have great support so I will bring them to the shoemaker to cut the strap about an inch.

I am a Chaco person and have been for the last 10 years. These shoes are advertised as appropriate for the "rugged terrain," which I trusted wholeheartedly, but they become extremely slippery inside and out when walking on ANY wet ground. I wore them on a hike and fell more times than I can count. I wore these instead of my Chaco sandals because I wanted protection for my toes, but that's the only part of my body that was protected every time I slipped on leafs, dirt, rocks, etc. The only outdoor situation for which these would be appropriate are perhaps walking on a beach or while you're kayaking and want to keep your shoes on. They are cute -- so I plan on wearing them to do go to the supermarket or city walking, but NOT when it rains. I'm extremely disappointed with this purchase since I purposely bought them to hike in the "rugged terrain" as advertised. DO NOT PURCHASE THESE SHOES if you're looking for hiking sandals.

I have flat wide feet and wear a size 12. These are super comfortable in that they offer just enough arch support so as not to dig in to my foot. And flexible enough I can walk in them all day.

This is my third pair of the Chaco Odyssey sandal. I have arthritis and high arches and this sandal helps me walk pain free. I look forward to wearing them every spring. Love them!

These fit much like my other Chaco sandals, not quite as much arch support, but still better than average. I bought these for hiking and wading in rivers, which I have not yet been able to do yet. But wearing them around the house they have been very comfortable with above average grip. I think they are funny looking, but they have the function I wanted of a closed toe water shoe with arch support and they fit the bill perfectly.

True to size - wish there were half sizes then would’ve been perfect. Still super cute and supportive. A rarity in water shoes. Haven’t taken to the beach or boat yet, but confident they will perform well

I looked into Chaco on the direct recommendation of my rheumatologist (arthritis in feet) as I needed good arch support and wanted an "active" shoe or sandal for the summer and for garden work. These are fantastic and so comfortable, and "breathe" nicely. The sole is substantial without being clunky. They feel like they're custom-made for my feet. As they come only in full sizes, and I usually wear 8.5, I found the 9 better than the 8 (as expected). The navy version is perfectly fine for all casual use and my feet are well-cared for. Chaco is now one of the brands I'll follow.

These would be perfect for someone with high arches.
