After reading reviews about sizing and speaking with a Merrell rep, i bought a pair 1/2 size smaller than my usual size. PERFECT! Super comfortable + great tread = happy feet. I bought a second pair to have on hand if ever this pair wears out. Taking a 6 week trip to Australia and New Zealand soon and this will be my go to pair of shoes.

The shandal is exactly what I was looking for. Extremely comfortable and fit well (however, I did have to order a size down, as the other reviewers stated). I haven't had a chance to test them out in the water yet but am excited to do so.

I like the comfort of the shoe, and it feels like it is very sturdy for walking on rocky wet terrain. Color is great, very neutral matches a lot. Size is definitely larger than expected. I read the reviews stating this so I ordered a half size smaller than I would usually wear. It was still too big and had to return for a full size smaller than I would normally wear. But, Merrell makes their returns easy.

I did follow the reviews and I ordered a half size smaller than my normal sandal size (which is a half size smaller than my shoe size) and it fits perfectly. I see what the reviewers are saying about it feeling hot, I thought that when I first tried them on but it might have just been power of suggestions as I don't feel like my feet are extra hot at all. It's super nice to have shoes that are trainers in the fit and feel but not have to wear socks. They are great on the sidewalk, in the creek, and on rocks. I imagine that, like my kids' Merrell sandals, I'll have to soak them in Oxi and water for a couple hours every, oh, couple of months I would say otherwise they smell like stinky feet. Still, totally worth it as these feel great, work awesomely, and look great.

I purchased the Choprock Shandal (blue smoke) to wear while hiking in dry & wet terrain. I live at the beach and walk my dog daily in sand and surf. Love this shoe/sandal! I used to have to choose between hiking boots or water shoes and now have best of both worlds. It's sturdy & grips the ground extremely well .. perfect if you have a high energy dog like mine (Belgian Malinois) and must wear lace up shoes. And love the lace tightener as opposed to traditional ties! Another awesome use for these shoes: I wore these shoes last weekend to a canine dock diving competition and they were awesome on the wet dock; gripped the stairs wonderfully! Excess water drains out very well & never felt that "squishy" feeling or that my foot was sliding in shoe. Very impressed. Also, I wore them while stand up paddleboarding over July 4th weekend I'm a novice and these shoes gave me confidence to stay upright and balanced on the board. "Sizing" runs slightly larger . for example, I'm a long time Merrell customer and wear size 9M in MOAB hiking boots, ended up with 8 1/2M in the Shandal. "Fast Drying" - I put wet shoes on top of dryer (on a towel) overnite & they were ready to go in the morning. Lastly - will be wearing these shoes in a 4 mile long canine obstacle course competition in November; with lots of water & mud . will let you know how they do!

These fit great out of the box and after a 3hr hike. They're cute, breathe well, and are easy to clean. Mine will get a lot of use this summer. :)

I purchased the Taupe color and love the shoe. Usually I must size up, but this time it matched my size....sure hope Merrell continues being closer to size. I only wear Merrell, because I have arthritis and their shoes never disappoint, wonderful support and classy color combinations...Merrell's attention to these two details make their shoes a step above all others. I like this shoe so well, I am planning to buy another color. Bravo, Merrell!

I'm on my feet almost 24/7. These shoes offer me comfort and support in my feet, legs and hips! I strongly recommend them

It seems to run large for my standard 8.5M foot. Have exchanged it for an 8 and looking forward to creek hopping!

I was looking for some shoes to wear on hikes that involve crossing streams and exploring waterfalls. I bought these and the Hydrotrekker Sieve. If I could combine the comfort of the Hydrotrekker with the tread of the Choprock, I think I'd have the perfect shoe. The tread on these seems better for hiking but, after testing them out on a 2 mile walk in my neighborhood, my right heel started to blister. I think it is because of the stiff material that wraps around the back of the heel. Unfortunately, I am stuck keeping them because I wore them outside but I would never have discovered this issue wearing them around the house. I actually was loving them for the first 1.5 miles; the irritation to my heel didn't begin until the last half mile. Hopefully some heel pads will do the trick and I'll be able to use them.

I wear a size 9 in every brand for 40 years but this Im an 8.5. And I have wide feet.

I have a foot problem that makes almost no shoes work for me, in living most of my large collection of other Merrell shoes. But this one works so well that I got this second pair in another color and also just bought a second basic black. Love your shoes, these have been a gift that has allowed me to take walks again.

They were nice , but they were almost a size to big. I wore them around for a bit They were comfortable. I decided to return them because they were too big and I plan to go to a retail store so I can try them on.

lOVE Merrell's!! They never go wrong! I tried another brand and I always keep coming back. This sized 1/2 down for me than my normal size but fits great! I HIGHLY recommend this sandal/shoe.

Like all of my Merrells, these are great bit surprisingly 1/2 size bigger than the Merrells I normally wear.

They run large. Had to exchange for a whole size smaller.

I liked the Choprock Shandal and it did fit me perfectly, but when I wore them I noticed that my feet got hot inside the shoes. This was a bit uncomfortable and it was not a hot day outside. It is still spring and only in the 70s here in northern California. The shandals were comfortable otherwise, but the heat effect was a bit of a downer. Too bad there wasn't a stream nearby where I could dip my feet in some cool waters! Despite feeling a bit hot, I was comfortable wearing these shoe/sandals hence the 4 stars. When I took them off I also noticed that the insole came out with my foot. It was easy enough to put back in however, so no big deal. These are a good comfy pair of shandals, just a bit warm. I won't wear them on a hot summer day. But otherwise they are fine.

I bought these mainly for kayaking since I needed something sturdier than the water shoes I've been wearing. They take river rocks well and are easy to remove and put back on when wet. I've used them at the beach, too. Sand gets in through the draining holes, but after all, it is the beach. They flush out with a quick dip in the water.

I haven't worn these yet because the size 9 seemed a 1/2 size larger. I'm thinking of ordering an 8.5 to see if it fits better. Otherwise, it looks like a good shoe to wear when it's wet out or for water activities.

The shoes just arrived. I'm excited about the idea, so I immediately tried them on. The Merrell Barrado (admittedly, a glorified sneaker) fits well, if a tiny bit long, in an 8 - so that's what I got in the Choprock Sieve (yes, I saw the many comments about size, but...?). These (with light socks on) fit well in every regard EXCEPT length - there's almost an inch from the end of my big toe and the end of the shoe. I'm not sure what to do, since I'd have to pay for a return, and probably wouldn't have them in time for the trip I want them for. (And they make my feet look enormous - not good for my ego!) Also - the colors on the website are more subdued than the actual shoe - the blue part is a bright turquoise, not the "smoky" light blue I expected. Likely I would not have purchased if the colors were accurate. At this point, I'm no longer sure I really want them. :-(

Had these for well over a year now on my second summer with them. PROS Quite comfortable, love how they hug my feet. Fun purple color. CONS The soles pull out every time I take them off no matter how I loosen the shoe. Annoying I am having to glue them in now. Which I hate to do because being able to remove them to clean would be nice but it's too annoying having to replace them constantly! Also they become kinda sweaty sticky inside after a short amount of time not a great feel. Iam keeping them to use when I bike as the traction is great. Otherwise for the price iam disappointed. I've switched to Ecco shoes as this is my 3rd pair of Merrills and I just don't think they are worth the money.

Loyal Merrell customer....however, disappointed All Out Blazes water shoe not available, so purchased these as replacement in Gray blue smoke. Liked the color, and the shoes are actually comfortable. On the con side the shoes are substantially or larger than a regular size. Order at least 1/2 size if not 1 size smaller than normal Merrell shoes. Additionally, the most frustrating part of the shoe is the removable insole. Every time you take your foot out of this Shoe the insole comes out and you have to take it out, reposition it and put it back in. These do not make for a quick release water shoe. Serious concern if you were in a water situation or on a boat etc., if you took your foot out of the shoe you may lose the insole. Don't know if the feature is worth the hassle or the concern.
