A long-time wide-width Jungle Moc wearer. These were like slipping on Mocs from the very first time. Comfortably immediately, minimal break-in. Bought in same size and width (10.5 W) as all my Mocs. Slightly stiffer sole than Mocs, but fine for walking on pavement / sidewalks. A surprisingly great shoe that I new was a keeper as soon as I slipped them on. Love the round laces too. The Castlerock color/style more muted than expected from the pictures, a good thing IMHO ;-)

First day out, I put these shoes on and worked a 17hr day on concrete flooring. No issues at all. most comfortable out of the box hiking shoe I have worn. Only modifications i made was to put a different insole in, as I have very flat feet and I changed out the laces after a couple of days as the round ons that came with the shoes keep untying even from a doubleknot. Love these shoes though. Would/will definitely buy again.

I am always looking for enough toe box room, and this nails it- the shoe is basically a moab with a lighter overall feel- its got a good lug, similar to the jungle moc style- the fit is nice and wide all over, i love wide and tried 9 wide first and returned for the perfect fit of the 9 regular- put a good 20 miles on it the first weekend, almost all paved path and concrete and they felt great

Another Outstanding shoe from Merrell. It’s the only brand I’ll purchase for driving the Brown Bus.

I own other Merrell shoes (Jungle Moc) and love them. But when I got these Alverstones I couldn't get over how comfortable they are. True to fit and great looking as well. I wear them to work where I walk on a concrete floor for 8 hours a day. So far, after a couple of weeks, these are easily the best shoes I have owned . In fact, I ordered a second pair just to assure that I could get them. Thank you Zappos for great service and thank you Merrell for the great shoes.

Teen has wide feet which makes shoe buying a challenge. He also has very flat feet, VERY flat and needs arch support. However these had TOO MUCH arch support and he complained it is too high. So if you have VERY FLAT FEET, you may not be able to tolerate this much arch support this style has.

I purchased these because I could not get the Moab 2 in the color I wanted and I needed another pair of shoes now. I had tried, and returned, two other styles before purchasing these. The color is okay (I am a woman buying mens' style shoes. I do this because I cannot get wide shoes in womens' styles.) This shoe is not as sturdy as the Moab shoes. They seem to stretch when you put them on. The laces are not as long or put on the shoe in the same way as other styles. It almost looks like they are missing some holes, but that's how they are styled. They are plenty wide enough, and with the stretch they can almost feel too loose. I'll be watching to see how these do when I'm wearing them a lot on vacation. I put my own custom othotics into the shoes, which caused them to make noise. I'm going to try to trick I have seen others mention and put some talc or baby powder in the shoe and hopefully get rid of the noise. (the noises shoes make is what caused me to return other pairs. I'm not just in love with shoes. I'm not sure how they will work for me. I have a lot of foot problems and comfortable shoes are difficult to find.

Good shoe. But treads are smooth after three months of daily wearing in grocery store. Won’t buy again. Treads wore out too fast. I’m slipping down the isles.

left shoe wore a blister on top of my foot. likely it is a manufacturing defect; at the bottom right lace hole, where the shoe tongue and side panel are sewn together, a wrinkle in the sewn seam of the material or maybe is an offset seam. when hiking, particularly on incline, the flexing of the toe box was uneven, the defective area wore down abrading my foot. going to order another pair, maybe they will have been assembled on a different machine and on a different day and by a different technician. other than the defect the Alverstone was a good shoe. the right shoe performed as expected.

I will so miss the six blisters I got with other shoes. Not. Hiked the same distance, no blisters. Just whining kids.

I've owned a bunch of merrell shoes over the years. Like most of them, these run true to size. However, my last couple sets were Moab 2 ventilator lows, and while those are similar in length for size, and feel very similar in heel space, they do run wider than most merrells I have owned. Very comfy from the first wear, the laces have more bite than the last set on the moab 2s. I also really like the rounded heel and how it feels.

I wear a size 9D, which is what I ordered. This shoe is a PERFECT fit - the most comfortable 9D I have ever worn. The shoe fits me like a glove, the arch support is excellent, and the shoe feels super supportive while being incredibly comfortable! I could wear these shoes everywhere I go, and will probably order a second pair. They are like hiking shoes on steroids - bulletproof, yet amazingly comfortable, feel like they will last forever!

Great fitting shoe and pleased with overall, after having to return the Merrell Intercept that was disappointingly not a good fit at all in the heel.

Comfortable shoes with great arch support. This is my third pair of Merrell's and wouldn't want another brand.

I've been waiting for a light sneaker type merrill as I own the water proof ones for outside work. However, I also was walking the dog in them and they are much heavier than the alverstone. Finally, alverstone came in my size and it felt like I was barefoot. I think the dog wants 2 pair!!! I bought 2 pair and if they come back in my size I'll keep adding.

I have or had several Merrells and ABSOLUTELY loved them. I saw these online for a smoking price and bought them. I wished I had tried them on 1st. The foot bed is flat with little arch or heel padding, the heel cup on the sole feels narrow. I would not buy this particular model (Alverstone ) again..

I know these are supposed to be rugged hiking shoes but I have no idea how people walk in these. The soles are super thick and rigid. We are going to look more into trail running shoes. I don’t think this style is going to work but I’m sure the traction is unbeatable lol

Ridiculous toe box! I have a wide foot so I ordered the wide version of this shoe. I was pleased with the overall shape and width of the shoe but the toe box was so high it looked like a construction toe. It left the front of my foot swashing around since the top of the shoe is not very rigid.

This was a study shoe for our rural life. Fit was very good...and as expected. I did add insoles, but I require a lot of arch support. The durability has been great. a regular tennis shoe would have been in tatters a few months ago.

Usually buy adidas trail runners but decided on these, have wore them a few times now on seven to eight mile hikes and are extremely comfortable, had no break in period, and no foot discomfort. Would recommend.

Merrell. The name says it all. Hands down the best fieldwear there is. There are attempts to match the name, but for real work wear none come close. Best desert footwear in the business.
