In general a pretty comfortable functional pant. It dries quickly, and has good mobility and for a lightweight pant it is quite robust. The front button however doesn't function well. During active movement expect that you will bust the front botton...which is a little annoying. Either than that a great pant...just needs a little fine tuning.

I like the Ferrosi pants, but I have two issues: first, the fitting is strange. I'm normally a 34, yet even the Ferrosi size 32 are loose on me. Second, the fabric in the pocket area pills pretty badly. The rest of the pant looks great after some rough use hiking. I really like to wear these as a shell layer over tights when I'm x/country skiing, as they breathe well but still shed snow and block wind.

The fit of these pants is strange. I ordered a 34, which I wear in everything else. The waist of the pants I got measures 38" and OR says that's the correct measurement! I'd go with a smaller size, but the legs of the pant are already tight on these. If OR fixed the sizing, I would buy several more pair, but as/is the fit is way off.

I almost love these pants. They would be 5 Stars if they had good pockets. I am 5'6" 140 lbs. athletic build. These pants fit great; not too tight, not too loose. / The only problem that diminishes their versatility are the pockets. They are way too small / a Samsung Galaxy S3/S4 will not fit comfortably in them. If you intend to only use them for your outdoor athletic pursuits when you have a pack with you, they are great. But they have a casual look to them that that would make them versatile enough for around town wear if the pockets were deeper. The material is light weight & durable / great for hot weather or when it is cooling down & you need to block wind or light precipitation.

A little baggier fit throughout than my Prana Zion Straights in the same size. I'd say that the waist is a solid 2-inches larger than tagged, soI sort of wish I had just bought some more Pranas, but at least the OR's are lighter weight?

I wore these for environmental work and recreational hiking. I didn't find them to be a that breathable; my legs - especially shins - would be very sweaty and moist after a couple miles; I do tend to run hot. The waist seems exceptionally large for the "appropriate size", and ended up sitting below my waist, creating a lot of extra material around my ankles (maybe that's why I had sweaty shins). The button fly came off one pair within a few months. I've had a few OR items give out in less than 3 months lately. Luckily I took advantage of the warranty and exchanged these for Equinox pants. Much more comfortable!

I have a few other pairs of Ferrosi pants. Other than very shallow pockets, they are great travel pants. The new pair I received was way tighter in the waist and way shorter in the legs than the previous pairs, even though they are the same size. Unfortunately, I had to return them. Other than inconsistent sizing on several products, I do love OR gear and have A LOT of it.

I already own three pair w/o the draw string and they are a full 34" inseam! At 6'-7" an inch makes a huge difference. I returned five pairs. If the inseam can be 34" or better I'll gladly take five pairs that length! I did NOT want to return those pants! Help??

I'm 6'4" and typically wear pant size 34x34. Based on reviews I ordered size 35x34". Waist and length fit good. Pants nice and lightweight. Compacts small which is great for backpacking and traveling. Overall, I found the fit too boxy, especially in the legs. They looked and felt like I was wearing a pair of slacks. if these came in a slim option I would probably like them really well. Difficult to say if I would recommend. It really comes down to how you like your hiking pants to fit.

I loved this pants at the beginning, thought for sure I found the perfect pants for work. However after owning the pants for 6 months, a lot of the seams are coming apart. I've had to sow up the crotch section on the pants and near the pocket, seems to come apart near the end's of the zippers. I do really like them for work and they are ultra comfortable however they are not built to last, and the fact that I've had more then 1 seem come apart is a real con to this pants. I think I will have to go back to my trusty 5.11 pants, these are very pricy however I have pants that I retire not because there worn but because the stains are just to bad (5+ years) With that said I don't think I would recommend these pants to anybody that would wear them more then once a week for that they are just not durable enough.

I was real excited about these pants, but they were too loose in the waist. So I went down a size and they were too tight in the butt and thighs. Not designed for guys that squat!

Unfortunately I am returning this product. This was always my go to pant for hiking, however, recent styling changes have made them tighter in the seat and upper legs making it uncomfortable to hike in. Reluctantly, I'm forced to look for a good substitute,

Based on reading many articles of writers who tested this product, these pants were highly rated and recommended. I purchased these as a gift for him and when he tried them on, the inseam was too short. He is a 34x32 5'6 man with an athletic build. We were quite disappointed and had to return them.

I love the Ferrosi Pants but the new version is just ok. The pockets are too short. I have time when my phone and wallet will fall out. My phones has fallen out when I get up from sitting. The old version were deep so it was more secure.

I really wanted to love these pants, but I can't. The cut is perfect for my slim body, 5'11.5" and 160-165 pounds. They stretch and move well and are lightweight. These are really comfortable pants and I'll wear them in the city. The cons: - I can't take these on adventures because the new thigh pocket is on an angle so with a beacon or phone in there the device rolls forward and backward across the curve of my leg with every footstep - it's really annoying to feel the weight of the device swing around. In the previous design the pocket was vertical and the phone sat well against my thigh. - The elastic draw cords in the ankles have been replaced with a piece of fabric that can't be locked off so if one tightens the ankle opening to keep out debris/snow/etc. after a few minutes of walking it comes wide open again. - There used to be two zippered back pockets; now there aren't. Where can I safely stow my money, credit card, organ donor card?

Not thrilled with these pants. They're certainly cozy. Size seems to run a little large in the waist but ymmv. My only issue was that they started to pill in certain areas almost instantly and I haven't even put them through any significant use yet. Not a performance issue yet but definitely an aesthetic annoyance.

This is my third pair of Ferrosi pants and first pair of the new cut. I'd been warned by reviews and friends that the new version is not on par with the old version because the fit is bad and the material is weak. My new version jsut arrived and the fit is good. The material is definitely lighter and breathes better so time will tell if it's as durable and windproof in the mountains. At first blush the new version is fantastic; they fit well and they are noticeably lighter, they are so light it feels like I forgot to put pants on. Looking deeper into the design I was immediately disappointed. There have been 3 design changes that are deal breakers for me. 1, the side leg pocket is much shallower, it no longer fits a modern cell phone or observations note book. I loved having my phone in the old leg pocket for easy access for a photo during a climb, to check location, altitude, route during a ski tour, and to stash a bar for a quick snack while swapping my skins. The new version will still hold a bar and a 1990's flip phone. 2, the back pocket doesn't have a zipper. I don't bring a wallet into the backcountry, instead I stick my DL and a credit card and some cash in the back zipped pocket of my previous gen Ferrosi pants. The new pants have two pockets I wouldn't put any of that in because there is no way to secure them. The new back pockets are useless deadweight. 3, The preview version had elastic cord locks at the ankles. I used these all the time; tighten them up and it helps keep ticks out, snug the pants over boot tops to keep snow and rocks out of my boots; fold the pants up to my knees when it gets hot to turn the pants into knickers. The new version jsut has an elastic with now way to secure it once its been snugged. I think the rationale is that it will stay tight, I don't think it will.

I bought these hoping I would have a new everyday pants but I tried them on and are returning them. They fit tight around the hips, the waist fits great, a little tight around the thighs but not bad. If there was an extra inch or two around the hips and around the bottom of legs they would be perfect. The pockets are a little small but because of the way they fit around the hips the pockets are useless to me. Other then the fit theses seem like a great set of pants, I would recommend if you are on the slimmer/skinny side of the scale, I on the other hand have muscular legs and can't wear these.

I have ....what 6 pairs of Ferrosi pants in various colors. Why because I love the material, durability, fit, design.......well not on the latest two pairs. No rear pocket zips, I like that they made the thigh cargo zip horizontal instead of vertical now how 'bout one for the other thigh. Also don't love the change to the hem gaiter. But to top it off this particular pair of pants was the first I bought directly off the OR website and the first time I wear them to get outdoors, the fly button comes off! I decided to just process a return. Oh....and the color Curry is a fail too. Would look better if they were just blaze orange.

Waist sizing is way off. Ordered a 32 and it was at least a 34 if not bigger. The wadi rum pants I ordered in 32 fit great. Next time I'd order a 30, pants are nice for hot weather but they are pretty baggy overall.

I own four pairs of these. I liked the light weight and the fit (not having had the previous version, I did not miss the modifications to this one, mentioned by other reviewers). The pants are in rotation and I do not wear one or the other too much at one time. However, the black pair now sport a series of openings on the top of the thigh/phone pocket, suggesting that the glue is not holding. I am disappointed that, after light wear, the pants are coming apart. Second, perhaps not so serious, the pocket is way too big and the phone bounces around on your leg while you walk. I will not be ordering any more of these pants.

These pants are comfy and versatile, for sure. But... I have some concerns about quality. Right out of the box I noticed that the stitching on my particular pair of pants was not very even, but I thought, whatever I'll still wear them. Then on the first outing the waist button came off and got lost (waiting on RA# from OR). So... I'm hoping that I just got a faulty pair and the replacement will be of higher quality. My wife ordered a pair of Women's Ferrosi Pants at the same time that I ordered these, and her pants don't seem to have any defects. Hopefully this is not a sign of changes in OR's manufacturing/quality control, cause that'd be sad.

If it isn't broken, don't fix it. The original Ferrosi pants were an excellent design, which is what I thought I was ordering. Unfortunately, the new redesign is reduced version of the original under the same name. Gone are the reinforced knees and double stitched seams throughout. The material feels lighter and less durable and the elastic waist on the original pant has been replaced with belt loops (which don't really work on a pant this light). On the plus side the button has been improved. In general, the trend towards lighter materials and less stitching is leading to products that don't hold up as well as the original versions. Consequently, it feels like a bait and switch when you get them. Similar things have happened in the past to the deadpoint pant which used to be a bullet proof, flexible, comfortable pant made of durable material, reinforced knees, butt and stitching. It was reduced down to a less durable version under the same name, then discontinued. I understand the need to change things up to keep with current styles, however, there should be consistency with a products quality across its run.

Not having zippers on the back pockets is a product killer for me. I want to have them especially for traveling.
