These shoes didn't need breaking in and provided excellent support whether it was for running or walking. But after wearing them for merely 5 months, they are quickly falling apart. As another reviewer on REI also mentioned, the filing in the side collar that rub against the back of my heels started to shift. Now they've become almost unbearable to hike in. For such a price tag, these shoes simply aren't worth it.

Only those with narrow feet need apply. I prefer a wide shoe but can often wear a medium. It depends on the manufacturer. But these shoes, no. They are billed as medium, but they are not. I tried going up yet another half size (they run small as well) but that did not help at all with the width issue. So, can't wear them -- but I sure would have loved to because they are well made and have a sole made out of a material that I think would have been great on slippery surfaces, rocks, etc. Nice looking too. The cushioning seemed very good as well. Oh well, back to my search. Hey La Sportiva, how about making shoes that fit the rest of us?

La Sportiva has become my new favorite trail run & hiking shoe. Well made, supports your foot and is comfortable to my sensitive feet. Sizing is different in that I wear a 5 or 5.5, but with La Sportiva, I wear a 6.

These fit perfectly on my very narrow feet. I had go 1/2 size up. I am only returning them because I need a bit more cushion for my arthritic big toe. I am. 9AA and the 9 1/2 was the right size.

I wear size 9-9.5 in sandals or dress shoes. 40 EU in boots. Size 10 in running shoes and size 42 fit perfectly in these trail runners. They feel comfortable and more flexible then others I tried. Sold!

I needed some trails shoes for more grip while hiking and I really liked the look of these. But they just didn’t fit my feet right. I ordered my regular size which felt a half size to a full size too short. I also must use orthotic inserts to prevent plantar fasciitis. With my inserts the shoes felt too tight and too narrow.
I exchanged for some Ryka’s instead which I love.
I also found that the Bushidas came up too high on my ankle to be comfortable.
I'd also recommend:

These are by far the best and most comfortable athletic shoe I've worn. I'm going on my 4th pair. I go through shoes pretty quickly given my activity level. Super happy with them. I wish they would make more of the grey ones!

On my 6th pair of these. They're amazing and have corrected all pain I was experiencing. I would like more color options.
FYI I am a US 7.5 normally, and a 37.5 in European sizes, but I need to get size 39.5 in these. They're fantastic if you have narrow feet with splayed toes. They may not be comfortable if you have very wide feet.

Have bought many pairs, so has my husband. These are the best shoes for narrow feet with more splayed toes. They are very supportive.

I LOVE THESE SHOES! Please do not stop making them. They do exactly what you say they do - wrap around my feet where they feel like slippers and grip so well I don't fear slipping in them. I'm not a runner, but I wear these shoes all the time. I have terrible feet - wide, with bunions - and I cannot even tell in these shoes - meaning - they don't hurt my bunions or pinch my toes. THANK YOU! I'm planning to buy another pair in case you decide to stop making them. The only thing I wish these shoes had are longer laces. Other then that, they are perfect. For me anyway.

BRING BACK BEET RED!!! These are the most comfortable lightweight trail shoe I've ever worn. I stand for 7+ hours at work and I wear these and my feet feel great at the end of the day. I have a pair for working and a pair for trial running. But I've never had more compliments than when I wear the old Beet Red colorway from maybe 2020-2021. Its the best color, please please please re-make it!!!
For fit tips -- they run small and narrow; I sized up a full size up from my normal foot size.

My family and I all wore these shoes for a 45 mile hike through the Buckskin Gulch Slot Canyon in and out of water for the entire trip. They were the best! They offered great support and they also dried rather quickly too. The sole of the shoe is strong enough to protect while hiking on the rocks yet light enough too feel like your not dragging extra weight when wet. Loved them so much I'm getting another pair.

I wear these shoes every day for everything I do: gym workouts, runs, dog walks, hikes, bike tours. They are so comfortable, and they just keep on giving. I hope La Sportiva will not discontinue them like they have with other excellent models.

Amazing comfort--great support all around. My feet are slightly on the thin side but I generally just wear a medium. I wear a 7 or 7 1/2 and these are a 7 1/2 and they are perfect with a lightweight sport sock.

This is my favorite trail shoe. I need a little more stability than most offer. This shoe has a narrow fitted heel that seems to lock your foot in place providing ankle support. The only minor change recommended would be the metal eyelets. I have an accessory navicular bone in both feet and the metal eyelets cause irritation/chafing on long runs. Taping over the eyelets will hopefully prevent this.

I have been wearing size 38 for a couple of years now. Love everything about the shoe. Great for hiking - excellent tread, no slipping at all. Also wear them to work and for walking around town. Decided to go up have a size to 38.5 since my feet has gotten a bit larger. Well, 38.5 appears slightly SMALLER than 38. Bummer.

I have participating in the sport of Swim/Run for a few years now. Every year newbies to the sport always ask, "Which shoes do you use for swim/run?". As your shoes need to tackle lots of different types of terrain from wet rocks, seaweed, trails, sand, and road sections of the running course, as well as, be lightweight, float well and drain water quickly for the swim portions of the event, the shoe you wear could make or break your race. Despite the fact that there are numerous swim/run specific shoes on the market, hands down I always recommend the Bushido and now the Bushido Women's II to everyone I speak with. Not only are these amazing comfortable running shoes that tackle whatever I throw at them, they perform incredibly well in the water and hold up to all of the abuse that comes from moving across land and sea.
Thanks La Sportiva!! You should consider marketing this shoe within the swim/run community.

I love these shoes! I love to run and feel confident in their tread on rocks and different terrain. My only complaint is that my ankle bone on the outside of my foot starts to feel wear on the downhill if it's a long run. I think it's just my foot though, I have issues with other shoes as well. I love the use of minimal materials in this shoes construction for lighter shoe and fits like a glove. I feel like my foot really can maneuver on the trail better without extra bulk. Some might not like the less cushion, but it doesn't bother me. I run in the Glycerine Brooks on the roads.

Bushido IIs are awesome! I've bought them three times. I use them for long distance when hiking with a heavy backpack, as well as trail running. They are well made, durable, and comfortable.
