the previous reviewers are right: Americans, order a full size larger. That said these are perfect for my narrow feet and a killer trail shoe, especially for mixed rock / dirt, roots, single track conditions. don't waste them on pavement. I expect they'll wear fast that way.

I want to love this shoe, but I don't think it's made for my feet, so take the lower "comfort rating with a grain of salt. They feel very light and nimble, and have some nice lugs on them for traction, but if you have "tall" or high-volume feet, I think you'll find this shoe is too tight. I moved up in size and that helped with the tightness on top, but then there was more room than I would've liked and the heel would slip a bit.

I had read some reviews before purchasing and bought a half size up. When I first put them on, I thought they were a bit snug but not so much that I would send them back. They were soft and comfortable. I tested them on a rocky terrain mountain in the High Sonoran Desert. I discovered these were the best, desert trail shoes I had ever worn. In fact, the snug fit I discovered was more glove like and while it took few minutes to get used to ... I would never get another size. They are my clear cut favorites. So, give them a minute. I think the fit is by design. I had no pain or discomfort and after a rigorous incline and descent on a very technical mountain trail, when I took them off, I felt like my feet had been literally pampered. The Bushido II is NO JOKE and I highly recommend them for those who get the sizing right. The snug fit has to be by design. So yeah, get a 1/2 to a full size up ... and then go after it. These shoes do not disappoint. Update: I am in month 3, the time when I usually have to toss my daily trail shoes ... these are still structurally sound, have tread left and still look pretty good. That said, I am going to order another pair, because they are now my aggressive trail shoe of choice.

La Sportiva runs with Euro sizing, which doesn't exactly match up with traditional American half sizes. I've been a die hard La Sportiva fan for ages. I got into their trail running shoes because I wore their climbing shoes. Euro sizing generally goes 1/3 versus traditional American 1/2. So the sizes don't match up exactly, which is why you end up getting slightly difference sizes when compared directly to the American sizes. You'll see a "+" on some of the sizes to match up best with the Euro sizes. That being said, I would order up at least a half size with most Sportiva shoes. However, when you've found your correct Euro size, I have found that I can order pretty consistently. I wear a size 12 across the board, but with Sportiva I wear a 46, which correlates most to a size 12.5. The Bushido II is my all time favorite trail runner. It's got a sock like fit (so don't be too alarmed if it feels snug when you put it on, or order another euro size up if you prefer a more loose fit), great traction, and lightweight feel.

I've used these to run a grassy and dirt cross country course. These are amazing! I normally wear a US9 and initially ordered a US9.5. They were too small. I went up to a US10 and at first I thought they might be a bit snug still, but I kept them. They performed great. They feel snug, but not uncomfortable. I like the fit because it clings to my foot really well. The shoes are light, but rugged. The lugs give stability on uneven ground. They have a rubber toe, which helps with dew and adds to the ruggedness. I've also worn them more casually for things like disc golfing and walking through the woods. They are very comfortable for extended wear, too. These shoes turn heads. I've gotten many compliments!

I usually order shoes slightly larger for comfort, and thought I would try only 1/2 size larger. After trying them on I decided they were definitely a full size smaller. Follow the advice of everyone else and me, and get a full size bigger than normal. Otherwise, the shoes felt very nice while I tried them on at my house.

These are really good technical running shoes. Grips rocky surfaces like a goat. Definitely go at least a full size up. I wear American 8 1/2 - 9 and ended up ordering 10s.

I give up. Returned the first pair as they were too small (despite the fact I ordered up a half size), got the 2nd pair and the length was fine but they're clearly built for a (very) narrow foot (mine are average width at best). Enough! Good looking shoe and good reviews but good luck getting them to fit!

Used this shoe exclusively on my AT thru hike and shakedown hikes, going through 3 pairs. I regretfully replaced my first pair after only 600 miles, and my subsequent two each lasted over 1000 miles without ever failing catastrophically. My feet are exceptionally narrow, making these a perfect fit, plus I loved the traction and of course the durability. The mesh part of the shoe and panel seams near the front were the weak points. I would sew these up with dental floss and glue over the top to create a permanent fix. This is the last hiking oriented trail runner I will ever buy, and I'm tempted to buy a dozen pairs to hoard in case they're discontinued or changed.

I've worn so many trail running/approach shoes over the last decade(+) and I can, without doubt, say these are my favourites! I typically run anywhere from 9-20 miles a week and hike a similar amount going to climbing locations. They're strong and flexible, have worn well. The tread is starting to fade after a brutal year of running, hiking, talus hopping/climbing so I've just ordered 2 more. I've found my shoe!

I'm in love with this purchase! Very comfortable shoe and responds extremely well on the trail. The staff at LA Sportiva were super helpful and knowledgeable about their products and you can tell they're really passionate about what they do. Highly recommend!

The Bushido II is a fantastic shoe for rocky trails. It offers a very nimble design for quick, precise foot placement. Keep in mind this shoe has minimal cushion, so if your feet are of the age where you require more support look to another shoe. Sticky sole compound is grippy but will slowly wear out (as it should) which is why running shoe manufacturers have the 300-500 mile rule. This shoe consistently runs small (not a bad thing) i'm a mens size 9 and wear a 10US (43) in this shoe. The Bushido II is meant to literally fit like a glove and feels fantastic with the correct fit. I recommend again trying the shoe on at your retailer, again you'll probably require a full size up from what you are wearing in another brand.

I just wore out my first pair after about 7 years of hiking trails, mountains and wearing as a rec shoe as well. Not sure how many hundreds of miles on these shoes (two pairs of shoe laces). Probably could wear one more season but decided to splurge and get another pair. My Bushido IIs have soil from 10 US states and 4 continents.....they're tired!....the fit, the grip, the weight, the look....all extraordinary.

I continually purchase the bushido! It is the best trail shoe. Whether I'm running or day hiking or longer hauls carrying a 40 pound pack. No ankle twisting. Light weight, supportive, comfortable. I would like a better sticky bottom such as the old stealth bottom or a vibram like on their approach shoe. The tongue, sides at ankle are very comfortable. Great protective toe box. I wouldn't change the shoe just a little better stick. For me, size is spot on! I think i have purchased at least 30 of these shoes over the years!

I am on my second pair of bushido 2s. I hiked the entire John Muir trail, and sections of the Appalachian and Arizona trails in these shoes. They are perfect for my long narrow feet, very comfortable and have traffic grip.

I wore this shoe for the first 60 miles of a 100 mile jungle run in Hawaii. It is the absolutely perfect shoe for the terrain. It dries well, has fantastic traction on the slippery roots and rocks, and offers unbeatable protection. I highly recommend it for any technical running. It's slightly heavy but it's worth it if you have sharp obstacles you will be covering. I ordered a 9.5 which fit perfectlyand I am normally 9 US.

I just bought my third pair of these terrific shoes. I am a power walker (mostly on paved streets) and these shoes provide excellent support and sure footedness and are super comfortable. Also, I no longer have any foot, knee joint or back pain since switching to the Bushido II (I am a 60 year old male averaging 25 miles per week). An added bonus: once I hit the mileage max for exercise, the "retired" pair are still in good shape and are excellent for ambling walks and yard work. Few clothing/footwear purchases have been so satisfying.

I bought a pair of these for long distance hiking as I am planning to do the Camino de Santiago next year. I have about 400 km (250 miles) on these so far and there seems to be no wear to the upper and only minor scratches to the soles. They are tough, have excellent traction and work well with a moderate weight pack (15-16 lbs). These are well know in the trail running community but should really be considered for fast packing. Stability is excellent and the rock plate in the forefoot does its job without adding excessive weight. A high quality product.

Replaced my Scarpa Speedbeats with these and this shoe performs great on hikes and scrambles. The bottom sole is flat and the rubber for the "green" level of sole is very sticky yet has also held up well on numerous hikes on very sharp rock. Runs well too and has good breathability. Very happy with these after doing 4 big hikes so far. I have a narrow foot and had to go up half a size in US sizing over my old Salewas.

This is my third pair. All have performed very well. The only caution is they will grip wet rocks amazingly well but wet tile floor with a touch of grease turns them into ice skates. All three sizes fit exactly the same which unfortunately I cannot say about my previous S brand.

I'm amazed with the fit and durability of these sneaks. I'm on 3rd pair in 8 years and I used them for hiking, exercise, traveling around the world and being comfortable. I have a high instep with normal width and the fit is perfect. I'm a US 10.5, but an US 11.5 in these sneaks. We need more color blends, the new year has too much black. My favs are the blue/dark blue and the grey/green.

Absolutely superior running/hiking shoe. I have only worn boots for hiking because of ankle support, but I found these do really well because of the balance. Definitely lighter than a boot. Very durable, good tread, and very comfortable. Ill be buying these again when the tread wears out
