I needed a light trail shoe to replace my trail running shoes. I wanted a dark gray or black shoe with shocking/hot pink accents (all of my running clothes are in this color scheme). I found these, and a pair of Keen. The Keen were very wide. I had to size up a half size for these, but my feet are sort of thin and bony and odd so sizing is always weird with me. These hug my foot nicely and add support and bounce. I also appreciated that the decorative stripes were sewn on the sides, not just printed. Everything looks so cheap these days, but these looked nice. Finally, I have large feet, 39.5, and they did not look like giant boats on my feet! Two thumbs up!

I gave my old trail shoes a bunch of chances but they were never comfortable. My husband had a pair of Salomon’s that were nice looking so I checked out what they had for women’s. I held off writing my review until I wore them a few times and after about 20 miles on them I can confidently give them a two thumbs up. They fit well, are easy to lace up and don’t bother my feet or ankles one bit. The profile is a bit larger than some other hiking shoes, but they are not bulky to walk in, don’t get in the way and they feel good. I think they look good too, and in a size 10.5 that’s saying a lot! (Sometimes you just have to embrace the big feet you were born with.)

With Salomons, I always have to order 1/2 size smaller than my normal size. I have a BAD case of plantar fasciitis, and I have custom insoles that don't fit a lot of my shoes. They DO fit in these Salomon X Crest shoes. I have two other pair of similar Salomons - one that fits my insoles and one that doesn't. I am thinking about trying these in a wide width to see if it's a little more comfortable that way, but at the normal width it works.

Nice looking shoe with good support. Unfortunately, it runs very short and the toe box is narrow. My little toe was rubbing--not a good sign for a comfortable hiking shoe. If you have narrow toes, this shoe might be for you.

I like Salomons. There hold up to my 3-5 daily pavement walks in NYC. However this shoes slipped a bit in the heel and lacked the level of arch support thatI needed. Need a show with better support and fit.

This was the third pair of shoes I tried for my upcoming trip to the mountains of NC and I have found a winner. Apparently my feet are not made for the other brand of shoes but these seem to fit just fine. The only negatives are the arch supports that are less than moderate and aren’t high enough for my feet plus the laces need to be a little longer. Both are easy to fix by switching to different insoles and buying longer laces. Zappos is the best with free two way shipping and a big selection.

Overall liked this shoe appearance and arch support, but returning for a few reasons. Didn't realize it but these don't have a quicklace, just regular tie laces. That wasn't a dealbreaker for me. They felt really snug in different places around my ankle, and I have been wearing Salomon's for about 8 or 9 years now. I compared them directly to my "old" pair and they were significantly different in the ankle feel. Very cushiony, which some people may love but I couldn't get used to.

My Goldilocks shoes! As soon as I put my foot in this shoe, I knew it was juuust right. Good arch support in the footbed, cushioning around the top, and rubber-toed protection up front. Sometimes when lacing up shoes, I can skip the last eyelet at the ankle, but I needed to lace these all the way up for support against pronation. The fabric seems incredibly durable, and the color and design are very pleasing. Salomon lives up to its reputation for excellence!

These shoes fit perfectly. This is the third pair of Salomons I have bought and love them all. I use them for playing softball and the grip is great.

I always wear a 10. I'm sending these back for a 10 1/2.

great hiking and around town shoe. The look great with jeans. they are great hiking.

So comfortable. Firm around the foot with tons of toe space. Light weight. Great grip. Incredibly comfortable all the way.

These felt narrower than the average hiking shoe, which was perfect for my small, narrow feet. Keepers!

Finally! A hiking shoe thats fits a narrow heel. I always felt that companies that manufacture hiking shoes/boots ignore us AA (width) ladies. Sadly, such hiking shoes dont exist. I currently own LLBean hiking boots (that weigh a ton) and never wear, Vasque (threw out my money) and Merrell which Ive been wearing but now need another shoe. This shoe is it. Super comfortable, narrowish in heel, plenty of toe room, lightweight and even looks good on my size 10 1/2 foot. What more can I ask for. Not waterproof but I'll be in arizona so I wont need that. Thanks to Zappos wonderful shipping/return policy I'm able to try many different brands. Zappos is the best!

I bought these shoes to walk trails in the Cinque Terre next fall. Before I clicked, I read all the reviews especially as to size and support. Customers had extremely positive comments for this model Salomon, and the shoes didn’t disappoint. They fit fine, no rubbing points and I can easily fit a sock in so size 9 was perfect, my usual size. I was concerned they would be too small and I’d have to send them back. I expect to wear them some on easy hikes and walks around Kaua’i where I live, but they seem ready to go out of the box. I’m 80 and need the best support and fit I can get, especially for safety. Style wise, meh. Not particularly pretty, but no one’s looking at my feet anyway!

I walk 6-7 miles a day at a rather good clip and from day one I can put these shoes on and just walk...no break in time and no hot spots anywhere.

This shoe is great for me. It accommodates my inserts for plantar fasciitis and the laces proved the ability to snugly fit the shoe to my wide foot. I bought a wide size. Shoe is not offered with much of a color choice, but my primary concern is fit. Very comfortable right out of the box for walking and hiking.

The shoe needs to come in a wide size for those of us with the larger, wider feet.

The shoes were great, but my 7.5 size was not the size of the shoe I ordered even though it said it was that size. Couldn't wear them as such.
