I've used this jacket on hikes, winter walks on the beach and around town. It has held up in torrential down pours and a very wet Oregon winter.

Great lightweight jacket. Perfect for the rainy weather here in Seattle!! Also very stylish with the option to adjust the torso area to give your body more shape.

Overall this was a great coat. Its overall fit is great. my only advice is if you plan to layer for colder climates then size up one level. I own a size L and found that movement was restricted with a heavy sweatshirt in the armpit/shoulder/upper arm area. Its great with light layers though in warmer climates. Also having a long torso I appreciated the length of the sleeves and body of the coat.

Perfect jacket for mild weather and to stay dry. Regular fit with plenty of room to layer if needed.

I am a mechanic and out in all types of weather. Being it rains often where I live this jacket covers everything I need. Whether it's cold, windy, rainy, it does it all! Not too heavy so I don't get hot!

The toughest weather I've put it through so far was a 20 minute walk to work with pouring rain, 13mph wind gusts, around 40f. I was completely dry under the jacket and actually a bit warm since I went up a size to fit a sweater under it.
The shell does a great job stopping the elements as no rainwater got through anywhere and the wind was essentially a nonfactor.
The length is perfect for protecting anything in pants pockets although I would like a couple more inches to make it knee length rather than mid thigh.
The dual zipper can stick a little sometimes at the bottom but for quick trips outside I'll just snap two of the buttons and go.
Honestly I'm considering buying another just to have color options. I would recommend trying it on with and without a sweater if you are considering layering. I bumped up a size and am happy with that choice.

WE love The North Face brand and have been purchasing ski wear, and all outdoor wear, for many years. All from the North Face. We have tried other brands, but they do not hold up to the quality, fit, and comfort of The North Face brand. Thank you for providing such a wonderful product!

Bought this as a gift for my husband. He loves it, it's perfect for being out in the rain or hiking. It's lightweight enough so he doesn't feel weighed down. We're definitely going to get him a few more in different colors.

This product is truly waterproof and wind proof. Layer underneath your favorite fleece and you are good for a day in the city or on the trail.

I like reading reviews before spending money on a product I want to last for a while. I was glad for the reviews here as they helped me make the right decision so I feel like I must give back. I've owned this jacket for almost 2 weeks now.
I'm 5'10, 163lbs with an athletic build. I ordered a medium and it fits me exactly the way I hoped it would. I've worn it just a t-shirt, long sleeve and with a hoodie and it does not feel or look big either way. I already have a good North Face winter jacket so I was looking for something to layer with until I really need the winter jacket. I've worn this jacket in -13 with a T-shirt and hoodie underneath and felt warm. I also find it really stylish especially when wearing all black. I haven't gotten to test it in serious rain as yet but this thing is great at protecting you against the wind. Although it doesn't compare to my winter jacket in terms of warmth the wind resistance beats my winter jacket for sure. The hood is bigger than most jackets but I've never had and vision issues especially when wearing it with a hoodie which is how I wear it mostly so that doesn't bother me. Most times I don't have to zip it all the way up to protect myself from the wind but when I do I feel as if I'm in a shell. This is my first parka style jacket and I wish I got into parkas sooner. That added length means everything especially on really windy days. Keeps ya behind warm I tell ya.
I haven't had any issues with the zipper like some have mentioned.
This is definitely my favourite jacket in my rotation and I have lots of different jackets. I really love how I can layer with it and not look bulky at all. When I have on my thickest hoodie and this over it, all zipped and buttoned up you would have no idea I have on another jacket.
I spend lots of time outdoors no matter the weather conditions. I can't wait to test this jacket out in some heavy rain. I've been looking at the weather forecast daily hoping for heavy rain but no luck.

Amazing rain jacket. Very water and wind resistant. I commute to work on my bike every day and this jacket does a great job at keeping me warm and dry, even when it's pouring rain. The fit does run a size large as other reviewers have noted. I'm 6'3", 215lbs - XL is normally my size for jackets but I had to return the XL I bought as it was way too big; I settled for a Large and it fits perfectly. Zipper in the front can be a little tough sometimes but it's not terrible. Overall, super solid rain jacket that does what it's supposed to and looks great in the process.
