I love Hoka One One Stinson so much, I this is my 4th purchase. I owned Stinson ATR 2, 3, and 4 all perfect fit at 8.5 This new generation ATR 5 is the first one I have to send back because it is a half a size too large. Something changed in how this shoe fits. I hope once I get the smaller size, I will still be as happy as I was with the earlier generations.

This shoe was true to size and width for me. I wear a 9 1/2 and that is what I ordered. Several folks have complained about how high up the sides go under the ankle bone. I have put in some orthotics that raise the inside level of the shoe, but I can tell that with the standard insole, the sides would have been irritating my ankle bone. The right shoe is currently rubbing just a bit on the left front part of my foot. The tongue of the shoe could have certainly been longer. Otherwise these shoes have some awesome cushioning. I will be spending five days on my feet taking action photos from 7 am to about 10pm each day. I have high hopes my feet won't be hurting like previous years.

I am an older runner with many years of experience competing on the road and on the trail, both long and short distances. When I found the Hoka One One Stinson ATR 4, I thought that it was my favorite shoe ever, and bought four pairs over a 2 year period. So I was very disappointed when it was discontinued. Fast forward to the Stinson ATR 5. While I only have about 20 miles logged in the 5, I find it very similar, but the toe box seems a bit narrower which I am breaking in. I would like to see some other color combos.

I am not a runner. I broke my 3rd metatarsal and needed a shoe with a less flexible sole. Whoever says these feel like clouds is lying, but they were far more comfortable than the Dansko Paisley I also bought for the less flexible sole. It felt like there was more padding under the ball of my foot which is great for me. I doubt I would buy them again once my foot is 100% healed, but they're a great shoe with the features I need now to be comfortable while active.

My only complaint is the new netting in the forefoot. For wide feet it is a little uncomfortable.

Though this Hoka is in the plush category, it's stiff, not flexible. There is great thickness of cushion and traction on the outsole - it just feels like a dense platform underfoot. But I'm sure they work for some feet. My arches are high & I have to wear flexible athletic shoes.
I'd also recommend:

This is my first pair of Hoka's. I run almost every day, mostly on the road. I immediately noticed the difference in the way this show guides my foot and propels me forward when running. The only downside is the way that the insole meets the side of the shoe gave me blisters. I think that using inserts, which I used before anyway, will help fix this problem.

These are almost perfect. They are a little long, unsure if a 1/2 size down would work. The cushion felt good. They felt stable and seem durable. However, The arch seemed too close to my heel. I tried them on and walked around the house for a few minutes and was able to tell that they would cause pain, in the long run. Had the arch support lined up with my foot, I would definitely keep these.

I have 8 pair of HOKA shoes, three of which, are the Stinson ATR 4's and one pair of the Stinson ATR 5. In my opinion, the toe box on the Stinson ATR 5 is stiffer and is not as comfortable as the ATR 4's I have. They tried to make the Stinson sleeker, but it just doesn't work as well for me. In my opinion, you took a great shoe and made it good....

I wear these all day most days as I have numerous joint issues. I add Protalus insoles as the insole is worthless....

These were recommended for me as a versatile cushioned shoe with traction for my slender flat feet, bad knees and low back to use in the gym and on trail hikes. I really wanted to like them but the toe box is so wide that even with a thicker sock my foot was still swimming in the "non-wide" version... I wish they made this model for a narrow foot and I will still recommend them to people who have wide feet because they were definitely comfortable and had great cushioning.

$$ well spent. They are like walking on clouds. 1/2 my work day is spent on my feet +- I could not stand for long periods of time b4 buying stinson.

Without it I couldn't possibly hike, which I do almost daily, because I need the cushioning due to pain. So I'm grateful! However this is the only low cut model for hiking and it runs wide and I have a narrow foot. So I have to add inserts and use 2 pairs of Sox. Would love a little more choice.

Being an elementary Phys Ed teacher I am on my feet ALL DAY! I take over 20,000 steps a day. Being an OLDER elementary school PE teacher I have developed many foot/leg pain issues ranging from Plantar F, to ruptured calf muscles to Rheumatoid Arthritis! HOKAs SAVED ME! I found them a few years back and had been recommending them to ALL my teacher friends at school We all wear HOKAs now b/c we are on our feet all day. I Was wearing the BONDI 5 and I was so happy. THEN HOKA MADE THE BONDI 6 :-( and the Bondi 6 is not as wide as the BOND 5. and I have been on multi year search to find a shoe that is neutral, and cushioned and wide enough. THE STINSON 5 is as good as it gets right now. I"ve only worn them 2 days but at least I have gotten to be able to wear them! they don't come in wide But it is WIDE. Which for me is good! IT was wider thant he bondi 6 wide! the fit is similar but the traction is more rugged since it is a trail show. I would prefer a road traction for when i'm inside the gym but this will have to do b/c I was out of choices! so if you are need a wide cushioned shoe and Bondi 6 has disappointed you- give this one a try. I had even been trying the Hoka's in mens sizes since they are always wider..AND mens wide but nothing worked. I am (mostly) happy with these. I'm kinda settling because they are a bit heavy for everyday use but until they make my bondi 7 ACTUALLY WIDE again...this will be my go to. IT IS definitly wider than the Stinson 4! (i ordered both to compare) I literally have tried just about every shoe :-)

I like the cushioning in the heel and arch, they feel a little wide across the middle of my foot, but the toe box is perfect, because it's not narrow... I'm prone to stress fractures, so hoping they feel more comfortable as I break them in...

I started to give an even lower review but after some consideration much of my dislike for the shoes had nothing to do with quality or fit and everything to do with appearance. They literally looked like clown shoes on my feet! The fit and feel was excellent with plenty of toe room. I mistakenly order this style instead of one for over pronation which was big mistake and would not work for me. I actually fell of them as if I was wearing heals. I am sure some will love them and if I had ordered a style for over pronation I may have tried to get beyond the clown shoe look. I may try another style in these as they seemed very well made and the fit was excellent. If it helps any I am a size 8.5 with an average width foot and prefer a roomy toe box.

The shoes were very comfortable and the width was very generous. Unfortunately they were very heavy, so I am returning them.

I am sad! I've placed two different orders of a sale item, and both orders were canceled due to not enough inventory. I am confused because the website said they were available. Hopefully my next purchase will be successful. I love your shoes!

It helps relieve my lower back pain when being on my feet too long, but it also puts undue stress on my knees for some reason. My knees always ache when I wear them. So on one hand it helps the back but hurts the knees.

The cushioning effect of the Hokas seems to have disappeared. Just like any other running shoe now just more expensive.
