Great shoe for comfort and fit. Love the stability and I am able to wear an arch support in addition to the regular liner. I loved the Gaviota 1 and was concerned about the mesh toe on the 2 but is is fine. Chose the gray/white for a more neutral color than my bright blue but also love them. Please don't change this style much...they really help with arch issue.

The fit was perfect. They look just a little clunky but I don't care because they are so comfortable.

I bought the Hoka Gaviota on the advice of my podiatrist. I've been having problems with bunions, which are aggravated by overpronation. At first I was a little concerned that the wide base of the soles would make my feet look huge, but they do not -- not at all. The Gaviotas are super comfortable and extraordinarily stable. While wearing them, I've actually tried to push my ankles sideways (deliberately, as a test) just to see how easily the shoes could be knocked over to the left or right. It is surprisingly hard to make them go over -- the wide foot base just doesn't want to allow the foot to fall to the left or right -- it fights against that, and works to keep the foot centered in the middle. The shoes felt true to size and the toe box is very roomy. Cushioning is great, arch support is good (although I should give full disclosure: I did replace the Hoka foot bed with a pair of Superfeet Copper insoles, also on the advice of my podiatrist). But overall I'm very happy with the Hoka Gaviota 2 and would definitely buy them again.

I purchased the Gaviota 2 in purple last year in September! I didn't quite use it a lot at the beginning cuz it gave me blisters every time! Around March this year, I finally came around with some anti blister socks. Last week they broke, some plastic inside the shoes started showing in the inside-side of the shoes. in BOTH Shoes! Given that I barely used them and they broke down in less than a year, I really wouldn't recommend them

I ordered these shoes after reading all the good reviews of the shoes. I walk between 5 - 10 miles each day, and I thought these shoes would work for me. Unfortunately, these shoes make the bottoms of me feet burn after I've walked only about 3 miles. They fit well and are comfortable for the first few miles of walking. After that, my feet are burning and I can't wait to return home.

These shoes are light as a feather and hardly feel like you have shoes on at all. Very comfortable. I’ve had very high arches all of my life and now as I am aging they are falling a bit and causing some fractures. My podiatrist recommended these as the sole is firmer and doesn’t bend quite as readily as some other shoes. They feel great. I took a chance and ordered them online without trying them on ahead of time and they are true to size for me. However I didn’t realize that the uppers are fabric (allowing them to be so light) and I wonder if over time if the nails of my big toes might rub through the uppers. Just need to keep the nails super short! Great shoes.

These were recommended by FleetFeet. They kept not having my wide size. Zappos to the rescue. Couldn’t believe I needed a size 6.5 (normal shoe size). Thought I might need bigger but the size is true. Now to buy some superfeet insoles and I’ll be set to get running! ????

I have been on a long quest for shoes that will accommodate my many issues (PTTD, a bone spur on foot, legs out of whack ... being helped through physical therapy and custom orthotics). I don’t know how many different shoes I have tried (but Zappos’ Customer Care policies cannot be beat). After a lot of research and trying many different brands/styles, the Hoka Gaviota 2 has turned out to be the perfect shoe for me. The sole is supportive and almost inflexible, the body of the shoe is well ventilated and padded, and the sole flanges help keep my foot from over-pronating.The inserts are easily removable so I can use my custom orthotics. My usual size has been 9.5, but with the custom orthos, I need a 10. I so very much appreciate the extremely generous option of actually wearing the Gaviota 2 to make sure it works for me. I have become so used to hobbling around in pain, I was in shock and awe when I tried this shoe along with my custom orthos and actually walked — upright — no ankle, knee, hip, back pain. I wore the Hoka Gaviota 2 for about an hour, then switched my ortho inserts to one of the other brands/styles I was trying. I would immediately return to hobbling and taking mincing steps - each and every time. I returned all the other shoes and have been greeting the Gaviota 2 every morning with a smile on my face as I know they will carry me practically pain-free. Unfortunately, I will be returning the (already beloved) shoes I have been wearing as the design of the toe box has turned out to be too narrow. It is fine for several hours, but as my feet swell during the day, it becomes painful. Loosening the laces doesn’t help as the vamp itself is just a bit too narrow for me. I ordered the same size in a Wide width which has eliminated that problem. The only thing I would change on this wonderful wonderful shoe would be to darken the colors of the sole flanges. They flare out from the sides and the heel of the shoe, which assists the foot stability aspect, but the white and light colors exaggerate the width. However, I will now proudly set out every day with these beautiful bulky shoes. Vanity be gone - I can walk!

Great fit even with one foot having a large, painful bunion and the other still healing from bunion surgery. I use my own orthotics so can’t comment on arch support.

I have wide feet and I have found the Hoka shoes to be the best and most comfortable shoes to exercise in. I like to run but don't like to have achy feet for days afterward, with these shoes getting out of bed the next day is not painful. Having plantar fascitis in my past do NOT want to repeat that again. Highly recommend hoka brand.

These were very comfortable from the beginning. They have a nice wide bed and are very stable feeling. I was surprised at how light they are.

Lightweight and very comfortable I can see how they would be good for a runner. They offer zero lateral support or sideways support. They also don't work well at all with my orthotics and they squeak squeak squeak

A very comfortable and supportive shoe....but the toe box was just too narrow for me. If the toe box was wider, this shoe would be a keeper!!

These are wide width as the medium width was too narrow.
That said, the shoes are comfortable and seem to be a better overall fit than Gaviota 1, which I also have.
Gaviota 1 in wide width seemed overly large to me, comfortable with thicker socks, but still a bit too large. These Gaviota 2 shoes are feeling less clumsy and are easier for me to walk in. I had to begin wearing stablility shoes in past year, always wore neutral in running shoes, so I am still getting used to a newer gait.
These are well cushioned but not plush as in the Hoka Bondi and other Hoka shoes. I prefer the firmer cushion of this shoe.
I'd also recommend:

I wanted to like these. The toe box is very wide and comfortable. However, they made my arches hurt, so they're being returned.

I like these shoes but like the other pair I have tried, the arch is just way too high for me. I need arch support but for these shoes I just can't wear due to the high arch.

I LOVE this shoe. I've bought it so many times in the last few years, in several colors. The nice wide toebox fits my foot perfectly, and the stability is exactly what I need. Only problem? It's NO LONGER AVAILABLE ANYWHERE!!! I've tried other Hoka styles, and always return them. Please, please please don't discontinue this shoe. You'll be losing at least one Hoka customer.

Finally a shoe that doesn't hurt my feet while I am at work. My job has me on my feet for over 7 hours. Being on my feet everyday for that long of a time wore my feet to the point of causing plantar fasciitis. These shoes saved me. Though I am not completely over my injury, at least my pain isn't as severe as in the beginning. I will continue to purchase the Hoka One One until they stop making them. ?

I love the Gaviota 2. I have two pair, both 2’s. One feels boxier than the other. Maybe it’s me. I am nervous about the new 3. So, I ordered the Arahi5 and I love the blue and the shape. But the D width is not as wide as the Gaviota, to me. I have read others who feel the opposite. Sending Arahi5 back, may try Gaviota 3.
I have skinny ankles, wide flat feet and need a wide toe bed.
Best shoes I have ever purchased. Wore Brooks before, did not work with pronation issues, except with orthotics.
With Hoka One One Gaviota 2, no orthotics needed. And no heel slipping

These are much better than the orthotics I use to buy from. Physical therapist, for over pronation onward.

The first pair of Hoka shoes that I purchased were the Gaviota. I have since Purchased several styles. I always seem to go back to Gaviota for stability with comfort, support and excellent fit. I can purchase in wide and stay to the true length. Love the wide toe box. Would highly recommend for anyone needing stability.

I love Hoka shoes, the Gaviota has become my favorite. I'm a "big" runner at 200# (91kg) so I appreciate that Hoka cushion and the stability of the Gaviota on my runs. You cannot go wrong with this shoe. I got about 300 miles out my last pair, that's pretty good in my book !
