These are a tighter fit with less room in the toe box. They seem to feel locked in, however they are tall and on uneven terrain there is no support. The first thing I did was cut the lawn with these. I keeped rolling my ankles. They would be good on level terrain while running. If you pronate even a little than they may not work for you. My thought was to make these my light trail hiker/runner shoes because of the aggressive tread, but they are too tall and cause me to feel un stable. I returned them and ordered the gavoita instead. They took them back not problem. I guess that's what you get when you buy expensive shoes. I think there was still some grass on them when I sent them back. Great company to work with. I was hesitant to order them, at first, but am very happy with the gavoita and the bondi. Will probably order more. You will be Very happy, Once you find your style of shoe. The only downside to these shoes is that they tend to wear out a little quicker than other shoes I had. But those were no where near as comfy

Love this new iteration of the Speedgoat. Been buying this shoe since version 1.0. More color schemes as well.

I love the shoes in general good grip and size with good cushion but the loop on the back of the shoes that help you put the shoe on tore almost immediately making it hard to put the shoe on.

I really loved these shoes. I always wear a size 10. These were for some reason VERY NARROW.

I loved the shoes but I just sent them in as a grande for a pair of Bondi's. I need more padding in my ball of foot area. I'm on my feet every day all day so I need maximum comfort.

I wanted to like this trail shoe because of the design, sole and plush feel, yet the shoe felt narrow and small. I heard the Speedgoat 4 were wider, so I bought a pair of the 4s, yet I didn't feel the difference and also found them narrow and small compared to other brands I run in the same size. Hope to find a wider Hoka trail shoe or will try a larger side, but don't think this will help the narrow toe box. I would recommend both the 3 or 4, but be aware the toe box may feel narrow.

I was only able to use my Speedgoats on two runs. I really liked the sole cushioning. I had recently upped my weekly distances and was looking for a more forgiving shoe. I did trip a couple of times due to the boxiness of the design. Unfortunately on my second run, I tripped again and due to the force of my leg stopping dead while swinging it forward, I had an irregular isometric muscle contraction and my kneecap broke in half. People obviously swear by these shoes and maybe I would get used to the size of the shoe in time, but I won't be wearing them again... I just traded them for a carton of beer to help with rehab ;)

Had these shoes a lite while. I run 5 miles 4-6 days a week. Part of the heel is almost completely flat and worn away. They are just not holding up nearly as well as any other shoe I have had. I am an active duty Marine for 21 years now and am not new to running. Other Hokas have held up way better.

I have over-the-counter orthotics, for a size 10 Hoka Stinson shoe. They fit PERFECTLY in Speedgoat 10.5 shoe. These are actually a bit tight, and the box is not as roomy for my big toes as is the Stinson. So, due to constant big toe pain, I had to return these.

This shoe clearly does not compare to sizing in my other shoes. I wear an 11 M. These shoes are too short - my toe is jammed up to the front, and too narrow - way too tight. Had to pretty much undo all of the laces to even get my foot into the shoe. Does not fit like any other shoe I typically buy.

This is a fantastic shoe. I would definitely recommend this shoe for anyone who has regular sized feet. I, on the other hand, have wide feet. I felt pressure on the outside part of my foot starting at miles 18-19, and that's problematic on the trails. I hope that a wide version of these bad boys is offered in future models.

I tried the women's size 11, and it was way too narrow, so on the advice of a Hoka rep, I tried the mens. STILL too narrow. Too bad. I have another pair of Hokas that i really like, and am in the market for a rugged trail shoe. Hoka needs to consider making wider widths for their shoes - especially if their regular width is narrow.

Used this on the Camino Frances this year, the shoe itself felt great underfoot on pavement, shale, gravel, cobblestones, and loose rock. Felt confident descending quickly at speed over loose shale. On the few days that it rained, the shoe performed ok, unfortunately the lugs don't shed mud all that well. Satisfied with how the uppers held up over +800km, experienced no hot spots what so ever from the lacing system. The Bad: The sole shown significant wear after only +350km, almost over 70% worn down. The cavity at the heel is prone to sharp rocks, and I could feel it through the midsole. At one point, somehow a thorn had found its way to this sweet spot and lodge itself into the cavity before breaking off at the tip; unable to remove the tip, I could feel it plunge into my heel every time rock would hit the tip just right. This soft spot definitely needs to be addressed.

I hike the PCT and use these shoes. I like them very much, but hoped to get 500 Miles out of one pair. Unfortunately they break after 300 Miles. Contacted customer Service, but the issue couldn't be resolved.

I loved these shoes and wanted to use them to hike the JMT, but every practice hike of 12 miles or more left me with blisters on the inside of both heels. It must be the insole junction with the inside of the shoe but I couldn't resolve it.

I'm a big guy, so for me these felt like a giant pair of flip flops, squish squash when I walked, heal collapsed, and were too tight. Not sure who these might appeal too, but definitely not "trail" shoes.

I run about 10 trail miles on average on some rough stuff. For the most part I like the feel of the shoe, the cushion is good, but darn it they are narrow!!! I bought the mens version hoping they would be a bit wider than the womens and am getting blisters from the toe squeeze and as there is not enough width through the arch area, my foot stands a bit too far over the edge of the shoe. I went up a full size in the mens shoe hoping to avoid this problem that I have had with other Hokas. If Hoka would widen these I would keep buying them. And no, my feet are not especially wide.

I bought the speedgoats to replace my Stinson ATR 4 S. I really liked the stinsons but I run rough trails and the pillow like pads on the bottom of the shoes disintegrated rather quickly. The speed goats have a hard Vibram shell over most of the Soul, with no pillows. The problem with this shoe though is the area that is not covered by Vibram sole, what I call the gooey Zone. If you pull out the insole and feel from the inside where the deepest part of the gooey zone is you'll find it's quite thin. I felt every rock that hit that area, and even had a goathead penetrate through into my heel. They should have covered the gooey Zone with pillows. Super duper comfortable great cushioned running shoe, but not for rugged Trails or heavier runners. Does Hoka one make a shoe that doesn't have delicate pillows on the soul and that has a FULL cover vibram sole, or maybe a thin Rock plate? In other words, a real hardcore Trail shoe. Stay on roads or light dirt trails with this shoe, it should be awesome.

Received my usual size and was way too tight. Hoka was great and quick about returns/exchanges. Tried 1/2 size larger and when I first tried it on it seemed tight but OK. I didn't get around to really testing it for an extended period around the house for too long and exceeded the 30 day before finding the top of the shoe cuts into my navicular bone. Guess I'll try to get the shoe stretched out.

shoes fell apart with 30 days of use and only 10 days of real use running or hiking the rest was more casual walking in terrain. The shoe feels comfortable but the adhesive that makes the sole stick is terrible.
