There are seams in the mesh at the midfoot. There is dried glue or something else hard and rough there, as if maybe these seam were intended to be glued together. In reality it's loose. Extremely uncomfortable. Wondering if this pair was manufactured as intended. Seems very poorly made for the price point, if so.

I would not buy again. They began to fall apart on the bottom after 3 weeks. The sole was peeling off. I bought them direct from Hoka so they were going to exchange them. They sent a refund since now they are unavailable. This is the second time it has happened with Hoka products. The customer service is excellent. I wish it was a better quality product.

It's got a shallow foot well, and an annoying divot under the pet heel, which will require gel insoles. I couldn't get the shoe to fit right around my foot because there isn't much space in the shoe fit my foot.

I have bought the Gaviota before and love them. I bought them again believing it would be as good as my previous pair. In the past month, I used them twice a week and notice a uncomfortable pain on my ankle after using the shoe. At the begging I though it was just a matter of breaking them in. After a month, I still get the uncomfortable ankle pain after using them and they feel very stiff compare to my old Gaviotas. I know its the show because I have a different pair of HOKA running shoes and when I run/jog with those shoes my foot is fine. Unfortunately I can not return them since the 30 days have gone by and sad I am not able to run with them.

Sorry, but these are being returned. They are not as comfortable as expected and as hoped. However they are very good compared to other shoes.

I ended up exchanging for a wide shoe but the new pair is still uncomfortable and they can't be returned.

I bought the sneakers after multiple bouts of plantar fasciitis and most recently a torn fascia. Aside from the thicker sole, I don't feel like these sneakers are more comfortable or preventing soreness.

There is design problem with these shoes. Cf. to the HOKA Ariah 4 (same size, size 11 US), the height of the shoe from the bed of the inner sole to the top of the shoe & top shoe string hole = 3/4 inch less. This means that there is about 3/4 less vertical space inside the shoe, putting pressure on the top of the foot even when it is very loosely laced. I am returning them after wearing them repeatedly inside the house for the last week off and on. They don't get better. I like everything else about these shoes, but they are very constricting across the entire top of the foot.
I'd also recommend:
HOKA Ariah 4; maybe some of the newer high end NB (have not tried)

I've been wearing and running in Hokas since 2013. The Gaviota 2 caused my toes to feel numb and if I wasn't careful with the laces the tops of my feet as well. returning for another model.

I got the pair of shoes in my size and when I tried them on it was very tight! It was right close to the bottom of the shoes. So I had to exchange it for a larger size. Upon doing that, I wore them to work and it was highly uncomfortable. It felt as if I was standing on bricks. They are great for walking but not for standing for any amount of time. I tried to exchange them for a different brand within the same price but they said you can only exchange once. Be aware of this.

No matter the shoes - customer service is really bad. Had I known, I would definitely avoided getting involved. Shoes weren't a good fit and had a few other issues. But, dealing with hoka's customer service is a nightmare

After an 8 mile walk my feet were hurting. The Akasa is much more comfortable with more padding and a narrower heel.

I absolutely fell in love with the original Gaviota but these are NOT the same shoe. There is far less cushioning and the heel doesn't drop like it use to. They have been causing me so much pain that I never had running. I use to think Hola's were the most amazing shoe ever but sadly I am going to have to find another one.

I REALLY tried to like these. They are stable but honestly they are not comfortable at all. Thin top makes for uncomfortable, no lateral support on the uppers, just a HUGE base. Honestly get the beasts. I will try to Bondi and put in an orthotic. I only weigh 125lbs and am using these for walking so maybe running would be different.
