A bit more snug than expected, but overall fit is comfortable. Love how light they are.

Not as supportive as a serious running shoe

Bought these for my son, he's 21. He finds fault in most things and is usually unimpressed. I asked him if he liked the shoes after he had worn them for a week or 2. He said,There not bad.... well believe it or not that is quite a positive endorsement for him! I would give it 5 stars if i could get any thing specific about them from him. He wears them to work. At the gym and on his 2 to 5 mile runs.

There was decent hype around this shoe. There are even a few reviews online, thought it is easy to see that they only "review" the product description instead of wearing the shoes. When I first unboxed my pair, I was worried that I accidentally bought lifestyle shoes. The design is clean and minimal.
I was excited that the toes vent all the way through as many shoes appear to have ventilation but it's typically blocked by a fabric layer underneath. Unfortunately this is the case for the side vents, thought the layers are thin and independent. Still, far more ventilated than most shoes on the market. The padding around the heel is very sleek and minimal which is my preference. Sizing is spot-on for me at a men's US 10. When I first wore them, my foot was pushed towards the inner side of each insole. This tendency eventually decreased.
The biggest benefit of these shoes is how lightweight they are. The biggest downside is how loud they can be when hitting concrete. I could guess that this has to do with the freshness of a new pair, the stiffness of the stack material, the use of a foam-rubber tread blend, and the pockets of air trapped in the tread pattern.
Overall these shoes are good for something, just not what I need. I will be looking for more cushion in one of the longer running designs to get that full Hoka experience.

after having had two pairs of Clifton 5, this model, Cavu, is well below expectations

I enjoy the light weight of this shoe. The feel on road runs is the it lacks cushioning, especially on forefoot. For folks that are forefoot runners, this makes an impact on the whole feel of the run. I hope the materials hold up. I have a pair of Bondi that started tearing after 5 months of use.

The Cav 2s are more narrow in th toe box than the Cav 1s. I'm hoping that the 3s have a wider tie box. I will check them out

I was super excited to try hoka and was told they are the best at cushioned running shoes. I got a piar of the cavu because I wanted a lighter shoe but "hoka" support for runs of 6-10 miles. It is very comfortable and light but legs kill me if I run more than 5 miles in them.

I wanted these shoes to work for me, but I've only just started to break them in and the toes are already busting through. Only maybe 100 miles on them so far -- the tread and soles are still distinct and white. I can't recommend. Will have to go back to my tried and true brands.

Ankle cuffs are a little higher and more rigid than other running shoes. Unable to run more than a mile without getting horrible blisters on the lower side of my ankle.

I was excited for the first Cavu. It had the cushion similar to the Clifton 3, and the "pop" of the Tracer 2, so there was a lot going for it. The same issue with the Cavu plagues the Cavu 2. The shoe hits my outside ankle on every stride. I tried re-lacing the shoes, considered putting a small piece of foam between the shoe and ankle, and even considered cutting the part of the shoe that rubs on my ankle. But I shouldn't have to do any of that, so I will be sending them back.
A couple other issues with the shoe is it is narrow, like most Hokas. It is also very stiff, more than the first iteration, and after 2 runs totaling 12 miles, there is already signs of wear. I am sure these would be great for walking or leisure, but missed the mark (for me) as a shoe for running.

I've been a long time wearer of Hoka One and typically buy 2 pairs per year. The sale price attracted me to the Cavu 2 so I bought 2 pairs through Nordstroms. I was literally stunned by the poor quality of this shoe. It looked cheap, it felt cheap, and to cap it off, it didn't fit. I can't send them back fast enough. My only conclusion - Hoka One feels they can charge a premium price due to its brand while turning out a shoe of inferior quality. I hope this isn't a recurring problem.

I use my Hoka's for daily walks of about 3 miles. After 3 months I have two pair which showing signs of extreme wear on the soles. Would not recommend. I love them for comfort, but disappointed in how quickly the soles have worn out.
