Love this jacket, I love the Heron color, slim fit but enough space to wear a base and mid. Great for the city and hikes.

Really like the jacket. Slimmer than beta ar and has a nice look. Great hood with visor. I wear glasses so I am excited for the good coverage. Nice fabric, matte finish.

Bought this jacket last year and have loved it so far. I wanted a jacket I could use as a stand-alone rain jacket while hiking/skiing on warmer days, but also something I could put on layers underneath on colder days. Works great so far, durable as well.

Great jacket but intended for slim fit. I had to go up a size for muscular fit, which made the sleeves long.

Had this jacket for about 9 months now and is my go-to jacket for the rainy climate of Ireland. I spent a lot of time on boats getting splashed and sitting in pouring rain and it seems to hold up well. Only wet spots come from the neckline and wrists which are reasonable for the conditions. My core stays moderately dry, though I suspect that's sweat. Seams and zippers appear to hold up well. It's not a form fitting jacket which leaves room for layers underneath. Pit zips are key as I tend to overheat in my shells. The factory dwr wore off pretty quickly and I can never seem to restore the slick beading as if it were new. Bought this as my "one rain jacket to rule them all" and I'm mostly satisfied. Though I wasn't comfortable spending the amount for the top shelf shell this one seemed to be a good fit given my non-extreme uses for it.
I'd say this is a great all purpose jacket for hiking, sailing/canoeing/boating, everyday use. It's a little thin and I'd worry a little if I was brushing up against a mountain.

Purchased this a a couple weeks ago and it has delivered. Plan to use it from Spring until Fall. It looks like it could also do as a lightweight shell in the winter for winter activities as well. Great Arc'Teryx quality as usual. Good to see the different GoreTex types where it matters as this helps stop the dreaded wet out. Sleeves are a little long not sure if it's me or Arc'Teryx does this on purpose as I've noticed this on my other Arc'Teryx jackets as well. Nonetheless great jacket, I'd buy again if I had to

Purchased this shell with the intent of using it as a three season rain/wind shell. So far I used it in variable Michigan winter conditions; 40F rain, 35F wind, and now upper 20F with layers and has performed above my expectations. I am now considering using it as a snowboard shell in mild conditions. I did not expect to use this as a lightweight winter shell but am pleasantly surprised. My only stipulation thus far is the sleeve length is much longer than any other jacket I've ever worn. This could be desired for some as the cuffs won't ride while active.

Ive owned early sl hybrids and the new ones are certainly an improvement. In the early models, the entire backing consisted of the more fragile pac lite membrane that would wear and tear with use and time, the new ones, however have gradually transitioned more away from a full pac lite and more of a traditional membrane material that is more wear resistant.
I often find myself using this more over my heavier shells due to its weight and better packability. The pit zips and more pockets make it a better piece over the normal sl.
Overall this is a nice garment and is improving with newer versions. The only thing that has failed me is losing zipper cords but those can be addressed easily.
The jacket fits true to size so size up one if you want to layer.

And the reviews are freaking me out. Pooling water in the pockets is freaking me out. Is it going to damage my phone? Should I return it? For a brand such as Arcteryx with their high prices there shouldn't be any irregularities. I'm worried not sure if I should return it or take a gamble.

I've worn this Beta Hybrid four times in the rain, with this week seeing some heavy downpour on my motorcycle ride home from work. It's actually a replacement for my Beta SL that was "wetting out" causing my iphone (also in lifeproof "waterproof" case) damage and needing replacement. I had my headphones in so the case was not sealed completely. As I got home, i found the phone was partially submerged water in my front pocket that had been closed. I'm reluctant to purchase a higher teer jacket without contacting customer support. fearing that this too will occur. It's a great jacket for light rain, but will not hold up in serious storms.

I have been using my rain shell for about 6 months now, the GoreTex fabric is very convenient when running or biking under cool weather.
However I am a little bit disappointed regarding its ability to keep me dry under the rain. When hiking or biking under the rain, I was wet under the jacket after about one hour (not soaked, just a bit wet). I am unsure if it is normal but I was expected more from this jacket (I don't have this problem with my GoreTex pants).
Overall it is still a great jacket, lightweight and breathable, the GoreTex Pro version might be a better choice if you plan on hiking under the rain.

Bought the the SL over the winter as i have fallen in love with a lot of my Arcteryx gear, and i decided to add this to the collection as a light weight carry along for heavy wind or rain.
A minor issue that i can across that i can overlook is the DWR. The first time i had it out there were spots on the jacket that began absorbing water almost instantly. It was light rain so i thought maybe there was not enough precipitation to bead off, this has continued and i will have to redo the DWR. A bit of a pain. This being said it has been completely waterproof.
After saying that i must say that it does have some great attributes. This thing is completely windproof, fits nicely, and packs down without taking to much space.
The main issue issue with the jacket is, I bought a gore tex shell for breathability, and it is, unless it is raining (the main reason i bought this jacket). After about 15-20 minutes of moderate to heavy rain it is wetting out and becoming nothing more than a waterproof shell. At first i thought it might be a paclite issue (not being as breathable as other gore materials), so I took it out for a few long walks and it was fairly breathable for a hard shell.
This jacket is great in many areas but because of its lack of breathability in the rain it eliminated its main purpose for me. Would probably give 3.5 stars if it was an option.

This jacket is great, very breathable and looks to be high quality, time will tell if I am right.
What I don't like about it and about the new line of Arc'teryx is the lack of natural colors, like od green, brown etc. Not all of us want to be shinning stars in the great outdoors, some like to blend in with nature, go in and out without being noticed by wildlife from miles away. I think this shift from the brand will disappoint a lot of customers.

This jacket had all the features and fit I wanted except a full 3 layer system. The packlite laminate started peeling in under 3 months of ownership...and not near a seam.
I realize this is an "emergency use" she'll but I had expected it to hold up better for everyday non mountain use.
I'm going to try the Beta AR and the Zeta AR but I think the fits are going to be off. Will come back to the Beta SL Hybrid and give it another try if so. Beta AR is either too big or too small. Zeta AR is probably too long plus backwards front pocket zippers are odd.
Will update my review if I give the Beta SL Hybrid another try.

The Boston marathon 2018 was an excellent opportunity to test this brand new jacket. I bought it the day before because I knew what was coming.
The weather was horrid with very heavy rain. The ultimate test for my jacket and me.
The jacket kept me dry, but although I closed the zippers very carefully there was something wrong with both pockets. After the race they were filled with about one inch of rain water! I had my new IPhone in one pocket and because it was water resistant it survived; but my papers, like tickets did not.
From such an expensive jacket you could expect a better performance. I brought the jacket back to buy another brand. It was disappointing. Maybe there was something wrong with the seams but my trust had gone.
