According to the description the shoes are "Waterproof full-grain and oiled suede leather. Fleece lining. Seam-sealed waterproof construction." and recommended use for heavy rain. Lo and behold I bring these shoes for the sole purpose to use in Italy on my vacation because I knew it would be raining for most of my trip - little did I know that these shoes would completely break down and become useless on day 2. I discovered while trekking the Roman Forum and Palatine Hill that my socks and footbed feel wet - unfortunately I was stuck with them most of the trip since they were the heaviest I brought. I seriously wanted to throw them out but I wanted something to show and complain with - these shoes basically ruined my whole Italy experience because it couldn't even protect me from mild puddles after day 6 of the trip. What cheap quality and utterly false claims.

I was looking for a in-between boot that works for the colder fall days AND the freezing winter days, and this boot is it! I have the tall sorel arctic boots and they are pretty heavy and take a bit of time to put on so I wanted something smaller. The snow melts off clean and doesn't bring in a mess in the entryway. They're water proof and keep my feet perfectly warm. The style is super cute too (I bought the black color so they match with everything). I bought a size 9 and returned them for an 8.5 which fits perfect now (I am usually a size 8-9 depending on the brand/style); I bought bigger because of previous reviews.

These boots have been a staple for my wardrobe from Fall to early Spring. My toes get cold easy and these certainly help to keep my feet dry and warm. I did add an additional liner at the bottom to help combat the cold, but these boots are comfortable and functional.

I was on the fence about ordering these because I wasn't sure I needed another pair of duck boots (I have the Slimpack in black), but the moment they arrived, I knew I would be keeping them. They're so well constructed, warm without being too hot and so, so cute. They'll be peeedr for days that are snowy, rainy or just plain cold. Don't hesitatebuy these boots!

I recently purchased a size 8, my normal size, and they are too small. Size up - I didn't listen to the reviews and how I wish I did! I had to return them and by the time I returned, the size I needed was sold out. I ended up purchasing a similar boot after returning these. Once my size is back in stock, I will buy again.

These boots are amazing. I am a frequent international traveler and spend most of my time traveling hiking in the mountains, often in fairly wet conditions. Before finding these Sorel boots I toughed it out in tennis shoes or an older pair of boots I have. I have a trip to Iceland and Scotland coming up in October and knew I needed something else.
I've worn these around our property and for some local hiking frequently to "break them in" before our trip, but they honestly don't need to be broken in. Right out of the box they were sturdy but not stiff pretty soft, great ankle support and very comfortable. The inside soles do come out, like other reviewers mentioned, but I think this is so you can use your own inserts. While they are on your feet they stay in place perfectly.
They keep my feet dry in two inches of water, and I'm confident my feet would be plenty dry and warm in an average hike in the snow.
The lace-up feature is excellent because they run a bit small in the foot, I ordered an 8 (I normally wear a 7-7.5) for a snug fit, but the ankles were a little loose. The lace-up feature helps this so I can tighten the ankles.
The buckle makes these boots feel a little bit more feminine/polished, I think. They're of course great for hiking and walking, but they also look great for fall/winter casual boots with jeans or leggings tucked in. They don't feel as casual as standard rain boots or hiking boots.
I'm looking forward to taking these boots abroad!

Loved these boots! Bought them for a trip to Montreal and they kept my feet warm in the snow, dry in the rain, and great for walking everywhere. They were extremely comfortable, especially since there was no break in time. Thank you for the previous reviews that said to size up... I'm usually a 7 and I have a 7 in the Lea Wedge which I also love, but definitely needed a 7.5 for this one.

I'm happy with my decision to finally take the plunge to buy a pair of Sorrels. I was borrowing a pair from my mother (from the 80s) for my snowy adventures, until now. I ordered these for my recent trip to Banff. First of all, they're incredibly comfortable. They kept my feet warm hiking in the snow, while not ever becoming uncomfortably warm while indoors. The traction is decent for flat ground, but I added crampons for traction on the steeper/icier hikes. I find this particular style to be a great balance of stylish AND practical. Both my friend and I (who ordered the same boots for the same trip) received several compliments about the boots. Since the Banff trip, I've been wearing them around Portland on rainy days. I would strongly recommend!

I had a similar pair of boots by another brand but they weren't comfortable but these, I can wear these all day with no problem! I live in Colorado and it has snowed a couple of times since I bought these. They kept my feet super warm for how lightweight they are. I am a Sorel fan for life! This is my 6th pair. All different!

I wanted a boot that would work in the snow, and heavy wet area's, but didn't want the bulkiness like most Sorel snow boots. Winter Fancy is exactly what I was trying to achieve, I wanted something stylish and slim and not bulky, and comfortable to walk in. I can walk into work wearing these and not feel like I'm underdressed. I bought black, so it goes with everything. Another boot I'm glad I bought! I should mention I did half size up, I'm usually an 8, and fit most sorel 8 boots, but based off the reviews they said this runs small, and I bought 8.5, I'm glad I did, they fit perfect!

Love these boots. Very cozy and stylish. I'm between a 5.5 and 6. The 5.5 was snug, and the 6 fit just right. I'm able to wear one pair of thick (wool) socks, but if you want to wear two, I'd suggest going a half a size up. Since they're lined, I do not think it is necessary to wear two socks. Have received so many compliments!

Took these boots on a 10 day trek through France in February, and they were magnificent! I could NOT be more pleased. Originally I was looking at another brand that was backordered til kingdom come, and these were cuter anyway (I got the Elk color), so I went for it!
Sizing - after reading the reviews I was totally torn on what size to get for my wide, flat feet. Typically I am a 7.5 in heels and an 8 in tennis shoes. I stayed true to the size 8 and had no problems, but only after hyper analyzing the dimensions of my foot. Even with wool socks I could put them on just fine.
Durability - I was on my feet constantly, backpacking with my sister through towns, castles, and museums. These are lightweight and can be worn for looooong periods of time with no problems. To break them in I just wore them around all day one Saturday previous to make sure they wouldn't kill my feet. They have held up beautifully and did a great job in uncertain springtime weather.
Function - as cute and awesome as these are, it is important to note their function. They are perfect for light rain or snow, running errands in inclement weather, or even if you just need warmer footwear for a cold day. But they are not the boots you wear to go sledding, or anything involving major snow. I wore them in light snow, cold, heavy rain, light rain and there wasn't a single leak. My feet stayed dry and warm. Please note that they are not golashes either, so puddle jumping is not recommended.
All in all, I would totally recommend them. I anticipate them lasting me a long time.

After much searching and even purchasing another brand of boot, I kept coming back to Sorel. I wanted a boot that could stand up to Indiana winter slush and snow but that would also look stylish enough to wear casually (amidst all that slush and snow), and the Winter Fancy Lace II is exactly what I need. For me, it hits at just the right height a few inches above my ankle (instead of mid-calf like some others I tried on). The felt lining on the inside is warm, and the rubber outsole keeps my feet dry. I like the little bit of heel, as well, for the slight elevation out of the slush. I typically wear a 9 or 9 1/2. At the time I purchased, no 9 1/2s were available in the peat moss color, so I ordered 9s. I can feel my big toes at the end of the boot just a bit but not to the point of being uncomfortable, even with thick socks. (A 9 1/2 probably would have been best, but--hey--I have no patience.) I really like the way the peat moss color coordinates with black and brown, and these boots look good over skinny jeans or even under boot cut jeans, but I feel confident in their construction to wear them out in the snow to play with my kids, too. I expect these will last me many years!

I read many reviews and was skeptical about what size to order. I am a normal size 6.5 and after measuring my foot by Sorel measurements.. it also concluded 6.5 as well. So I ordered the boot in my normal size and they are PERFECT! I was surprised at how flexible they are, I assumed they would be pretty stiff.. and they're not! Today is my first day wearing them after I got them for my birthday yesterday and so far I am very pleased! Not to hot & very comfy (as soon as I put them on). The only thing that was not what I expected is that the shaft is a lot bigger and fits pretty loose, but still great for wearing thick or extra socks! Over all love these boots 100% and will be a returning Sorel customer!

I have been patiently waiting to find the perfect Sorel boot to fit my needs. As a college student, I'm often out on campus, waiting for buses, and still playing in the snow. I was weary about buying your boot online due to previous comments about sizing. I ended up buying the Women's Winter Fancy Lace II in store and am happy with my purchase.
Boot Rating Criteria
My main concerns were fit, weight, weather, and style. The fit of the boot is what held me back from purchasing online. I did look at the size chart but was untrusting. A combination of Sorel's size chart and categorizing the fit to be small, buying the size 9 boot and measuring my foot at 25.5 centimeters was accurate. The area around the toes was a bit larger than most other shoes; this is understandable for a winter boot in order to wear larger socks. Considering the boot is made for light snow, the weight of the boot is not overbearing, making them easy to walk in. I used the boot for about three hours while out sledding. This was the only time my feet have been cold in my Sorel boots. I assumed the high quality boots would provide warmth for that long, but they are considered to work best in casual and light snow environments. The style is up-to-date while keeping my feet dry; essentially perfect for a college student.
As a student at Iowa State University, where winters are occasionally in the negative digits, I highly recommend this boot for the casual and light snow purpose it is directed to serve.

These shoes are great for the snow or when it's slippery out. It has great traction, so I don't have to worry about accidentally falling. I did go a half size up since I have wide feet and I read that they fit a bit small, and they fit perfectly. I have enough room in my shoe to wear thick socks if I wanted to. Also, the shoe is lined so they give you an extra layer of warmth which is great for when I'm standing out in the cold for a long period of time.

I ordered these boots a little bigger than I normally would, based off of previous reviews. I normally wear a 6-6.5 but ordered a 7 and I am very happy with that decision.
The boots are super warm and functional! I can wear them easily with warm socks and leg warmers or boot socks. Like any winter boot they take a little work to get off, but lacing them back up is never a problem.
Living in MN it can be hard to find a boot that not only keeps you warm while trekking through the snow but allows you to look cute while doing it! These boots do just that for me!

These boots are very comfortable and warm- perfect for in between slushy spring weather in Colorado. That said, they squeak a lot when you move in them, so they sound really cheap and old when you walk around. The construction also somehow feels lighter and flimsier than all of my other sorel boots (I own about 4 pairs). I'll be curious to see how they hold up through a full winter here.
