I have many pairs of Frye boots and they are all comfortable, beautifully made, high quality, and last a lifetime--these are also perfectly made, comfortable, true to size, and if I loved them, I could have seen myself wearing them constantly! I've wanted this particular pair for a while, and wanted so badly to love these boots, and I love the style on others, but I just felt like they didn't work for me; the way they cut at the ankle, coupled with the rounded toe, make my legs look stubby and I am 5'10" and all legs! I tried them with different pants and different color pants and debated keeping them, but for the price I just couldn't justify only occasionally wearing them, and not loving them when I did.

I purchased this pair in brown a few years back and love them, so thought I’d get a black pair as well. Same size and style, but these were so stiff and tight in the toes that there was no question that they were going back. No amount of breaking in was going to ever make these as comfortable as my current pair, though the quality and construction seems to be the same. No idea why that is, but I’m disappointed.

I wear a 6.5 in shoes regularly. I ordered a 7 to accommodate thick socks. These felt so tight and uncomfortable. One seemed bigger than the other. Rubbed my heel in a terrible way. Are these defective boots that aren’t labeled as such?

Really good looking boot but the fit was suboptimal. With every step, my foot lifted so far out of the boot that I could not keep it on. Very disappointing.

Not as high quality as my old Veronicas - and feels and looks a full size bigger. Sadly will be sending back.

I love Frye, but often the leather is too stiff, and thick. The heel part is very hard and stiff, not much bend ability in the shoe. You'd have to wear this shoe, and many of Frye shoes, for years daily before they ever soften and loosen. Sadly, had to return them. I love the style and distressed color however.

I was so excited to for the boots to arrive. They are very stylish to wear with out outfit. I was so disappointed that I had to return them. I read other reviews which talked about the difficulty of getting them on. That was the case for me. I have a high instep, but there seems to be an issue with the back of the heal support on boot. There is not enough space to slide your foot in. I returned my first pair and reordered a half size larger. Still could not get boots on without a huge effort, shoe horn and another person helping! I am going to try a different style Frye.

I couldn't get my foot into the boot. The top was too narrow and didn't have enough give. They're beautiful boots, but the sizing is awful

You need to break them in, about 3 wearings, you’re good to go. Quality leather can’t be beat .

Soft beautiful leather. Heal slipped at first but stopped after wearing around the house. Love these.

I have a narrow foot and they are a little wide, so I wear heavier socks. But love all my Frye boots.

I wear a size 9 but always get a 1/2 size up when it is a boot style I anticipate wearing thicker socks. These are that style. They are great but really are more of a distressed brown than black as in the pic. Zappos never disappoints! Devoted customer here:)

I first ordered my size. I tried them on and they were tight and my toes were at the very top of the boot. I exchanged for half a size up and they fit perfectly. The exchange was easy and both times I got the boots within 3 days.

These boots are fabulous - the minute I put them on they were beyond comfortable and easy to walk in for hours! They are stylish with jeans/casual clothes - I highly recommend these boots.

I almost always take a 7 1/2 but in this boot I would need an 8. The heel slipped (which according to the other reviews would take care of itself with wear and breaking in), but the toe box was crunching my toes. I don't have fat toes so I think this boot runs small.
