Customer Reviews Birkenstock Arizona Big Buckle - Nubuck Leather

I have several pair of Birkenstocks but this is my first pair of the Arizona style. I’m in my late 40’s and I think the Big Buckle style is more fitting for my age group. I fell in love with these, as well as the Gizeh Big Buckle (I bought those in white). I can wear them with a dress or with jeans and they look classy! My only complaint is I have a tailors bunion, which get aggravated when I wear them. None of my other Birkenstocks do this so it must be the Arizona style. I’m going to continue to wear them because they are just that beautiful! I wear a size 8 in shoes and can wear both a 38 and 39 in Birkenstocks. I got the 38 in these because the straps looked too long on the sides of the 39 after I adjusted the straps (I had to buckle them tighter).

Love the look but the straps are stiff and caused an immediate blister on the top of my foot. I assume they will soft up but out of the box they are not the most comfortable Birkies I’ve owned. That said, the color is adorable and more fashionable than the traditional sandals.

Okay,this is my first review ever and this are my first Birkenstock I got.I had to right this so I can help others with my experience.I bought this color and when I got them I was so disappointed.They were so uncomfortable and I called my friend to complain because she was the one who told me to get them.She told me that I have to breake them and then they going to be very comfortable.So I was going around the house wearing only them and still they were not comfortable and I returned the shoes.She told me to order another pair because to her something was wrong with the shoes.So I was embarrassed to order the same color and I ordered yellow.When I got them and tried them on, they were totally different.Very comfortable and I didn't had to break them at all.So then I returned yellow and got the color I ordered first time and they were great.So just so you know,if you really want to have this shoes do what I did,you never know.

I ordered and returned 3 pairs of the this shoe. Ordered a narrow width, and each time it looked to me like it was a medium width as the "M" was after the size. Can't find any indication that this shoe is a narrow. If this Sandel is narrow, It is too wide and I will have to return them and look for another white sandel. Cameron was the customer service person I spoke with. He was so very helpful, and a pleasure to talk with. Is very professional and I'm sure is a great asset to Zappos.

These looks SO good, but I'm so much more comfortable with the typical Birkenstock footbed. These are a leather, I think, and I do this love that as much. They do make noises when you walk, but they're so cute that it doesn't matter much.

Fits good. The material on the bed of the shoe is a little sticky but I washed it and it’s a little better. Makes noise when I walk

I want to love these but they squeak every time I take a step. This is my first pair of real Birks, trying to love them but for the price I don’t....

The buckles are plastic ugh

Fit great - my family thought the big buckles were too blingy and I kind of agreed. I also thought the leather was a bit more rustic looking than I expected and didn't seem quite right with the large, bright brass buckle.

I have ordered this style Birkenstock sandal in narrow several times over the years. This is the first new pair that feels narrower than prior purchases. If you have very narrow feet than this sandal will be good for you. I guess my "old feet" are less narrow now. BUT all of the other shoes, boots, sandals that I own and wear are "narrow width". ....makes you wonder???

Pretty yet smaller straps and buckles are more comfortable

I wear a 5.5, wide feet and in other Birks a 36 fits great. But for this big buckle shoe, the 36 is too long. Even with the straps tight my foot is sliding all over and the little toe ridge is in the wrong spot all the time. They are beautiful, but I want to size down. No 35s available on Zappos atm, so I'm looking at the Birk website to try these in a 35.

I am so sad about these - they are super cute, and would be comfortable, but they squeak when I walk! It isn’t the shoe itself squeaking, there is some suction between my sole and the footbed every time I step and it makes a sucking/squeaking (fart) noise.

The leather was very stiff and uncomfortable so had to be returned

Fit and size is as usual with all birkies. Order the narrow even if your feet are wide. The 40 is my go to perfect size. I ordered the butter high shine and returned it. Looked and felt like plastic. I ordered the antique cognac as a replacement and they are beautiful!!

These Birks are going back. I didn't care for the shininess of the gold buckles. Also, the smooth footbed instead of the sueded footbed leather didn't feel nice on the foot.

I bought my usual size 39. My toes were at the edge of the sole, where there was a strange ridge which poked the underside of my toes. I put the straps on the tightest setting and it was barely tight enough. I usually wear a narrow. This was the narrow. I sent them back.

I bought the shiny leather version, bc I love the look and the gold buckles. They are REALLY cute on the foot. I have normal width feet and the narrow did not seem narrow to me. The main issue with these is that shiny leather … it’s very stiff, and very uncomfortable. The foot bed even feels less comfortable bc it’s lined with a similar material. I will be returning, sadly, but may come back to try the suede version.

The narrow fit was good for my small 6.5 sized foot. But I was not a fan of the big buckle style. I have been looking for a traditional Arizona with original footbed in dove gray and this was the closest thing I could find. Maybe I missed out and they are now out of stock? The only other traditional looking Arizona in dove gray is a soft footbed. I may try it but I hope Birkinstock will make more in dove gray with the original footbed.

I ordered this sandal specifically for the “big buckle” - but the very feature that gives it high style points, alas, really detracts from the fit and comfort. As usual with Birkenstocks, the leather is high quality, thick and substantial- but a bit stiff at first- and the straps are so wide, to accommodate the oversized buckle, that I felt them digging in to my foot. Also, the Big Buckle model is not available with the soft footbed, which I have found I really prefer. Thank goodness for Zappos excellent return process - here I am, only 1 day later, wearing the soft footbed Florida Birks I ordered as a replacement!

I wanted to love them but ended up sending them back. First, they are too narrow for me, and this style comes only in narrow. Second, the leather felt rough and too hard. Third, I was not crazy about the color and the look. They look better in pictures than in person, in my opinion. Zappos were phenomenal in making the return easy! And they issued refund the minute I took the box to UPS store, without even checking it, just like Amazon does. This is what I call customer trust and respect. Love Zappos! Will definitely buy again. I returned them, I understand that with Birkenstock you have to wear them a while before they are comfortable. But the issue I had is he strap closest to my ankle dug into my ankle and didn't think that was going to get better.

I already posted the review for these shoes, well let’s do it again. I love these shoes they’re so cute with big buckle even cuter, but they are not comfortable which is strange for Birkenstocks. I know it takes time to break in, but with these shoes that was not the case. Anyway I ordered apricot color because I had some store credit. When the shoes arrived they were the most comfortable shoes ever the only difference was these are yellow. So I called the customer service and I explained what happened with the same style, same leather ,but one was extremely uncomfortable and the yellow one very comfortable. They told me that sometimes that depends on the color. That didn’t make sense to me at all so I called the Birkenstock store. They said that that’s not true, they should all fit the same, if it’s the same style and same leather which in this case it is. So now I re-ordered the one I wanted to double check if they’re going to fit like yellow. So don’t give up. If you like the shoes and the color and they don’t fit how they supposed to fit, you returned them and you re-order another pair. I know it’s a hassle , but if you like them and you want them so bad you will have to do that and see if it’s going to work out for you like it did for me.

The foot bed is not like any other Birkenstock I have owned. It is smooth leather and not comfortable. It seems like quality control needs some improvement as there is glue coming out all on all parts where the sandal is glued together. There was even some on the inside arch that was causing pain just while trying on. The glue made it look like they could start to separate at any time. I was really hoping these would be a winner since I am on my feet all day. Thankful for Zappos wonderful customer service and hopefully accepting my return (fingers crossed) as there is no way these are worth the price.

I haven't worn Birkenstocks in over 20 years but have seen how people raving about them lately. So, I bought the Arizona in copper metallic from a department store. I loved the look but noticed a scuff mark before I even got to wear them outside the house. I came here and discovered that many have reported that the shoes scuff very easily. So, I returned them because shoes that are this expensive shouldn't scuff so quickly. I decided to try the Big Buckle because I like how the buckle elevates the shoe from the standard Birk. I bought the fire red because I love a pop of color and thought they'd be cute for fall. (I live in Central Texas where sandal season lasts through November.) When the shoes arrived, I knew I'd be sending them back. They are not the vibrant red shown here. Instead, they're more of an antique, slightly faded red. There's nothing wrong with that look, but it's not what I was going for. I can wear an 8 or 8.5, depending on the shoe, and bought 39, which fit perfectly. The foot bed was very hard, but I understand it can take a while to break in Birkenstocks. Had the color been what I wanted, I'd have been ok with the breaking in period. Alas, I had to return them. Given my experience with both shoes, maybe this means Birkenstocks just aren't for me. ?????
