Bought a pair direct from Altra. Liked them so much, when I saw them on sale thru another online vendor, I got a second pair. True, the arch seems really high, but after wearing them for a while the arch compresses and your feet adjust to the different form factor of this shoe. Definitely the most comfortable and supportive shoe I've ever had. I'm not a runner but these shoes are great for walking and everyday use. I'm a 10.5. My first pair was this size, there was only a tad bit of extra space for the toes, not uncomfortable. But the second pair I got were 11's and they fit better with adequate toe space. Only drawback to the shoes is the sole can slip on outdoor wet pavement on incline.

My first impression was "I can't wear these things", but my trainer at the local gym encouraged me to keep trying. After three days, I didn't want to take them off. They are like barefoot but with cushion and support. I orginically purchased these for walking on trails in remote parts of the South Pacific, but thedy have also become my go-to training shoes. Think I'll get another pair...

I am a walker not runner. I love the zero drop shoes. Provision is tighter fit over Altra Instinct 4. (just to give comparison if you are familiar with the Instinct style) I always ordered 8.5 in the Instinct 4, a half size larger, but Provision 8.5 is too big. Need to order my usual 8.0. Great Heel Cup and amazing Arch. Much more pronounced arch support over Instinct. -- holds the back firmly in place. Much firmer overall insole than Instinct. Toe box is smaller, firmer over Instinct. Comfortable though.

I have somewhat narrow, and somewhat flat feet, but am an avid backpacker and have stepped up my running game in an effort to further improve my hiking conditioning and overall health. I made a move to zero drop shoes for hiking (Altra Timp), and figured that it should trickle into my running as well. These shoes are great!! I’m still in the process of transitioning to zero drop, so there is that initial soreness in feet and calves, but these shoes are the perfect assistant to improve your running mechanics, particularly in the minimalist/natural running style without having to actually run barefoot and give up that cushion that shoes offer. My foot strike was better the first time I laced these up. I have no doubt that these shoes have and will continue to improve my running, and the comfort is definitely there. I haven’t had them long enough to comment on durability, but they seem sturdy and well-made. I wear Injinji toe socks with these, same as I hike in, and that really opens up the freedom in these shoes, in my opinion. The move to zero drop can be fairly easy and painless as long as it’s done the right way, and I can’t recommend these shoes enough.

Love the shoe. The toe box is roomy and comfortable. The shoe seems to run small. I ordered a 9 1/2, my normal shoe size but it was cramped. I contacted customer service and arranged to get a half size larger and it was perfect. Arrived the next day! Can't ask for anything better than that.

Im a heavier guy that is trying to get into shape, I have flat feet and recovered from achilles tendonitis/peroneal tendonitis. Altra brand helped me regain muscle strength that I was lacking wearing other brand shoes that were more a fashion statement than actual footwear. The provision 3.5 is everything I wanted in a shoe, FUNCTIONAL, comfortable, and makes you feel like you can take on the world. I like the color choices they chose - very classy with the all black. please keep this for the next gen. My only request is that the white bar for the next gen be dark gray or black so the shoe actually is ALL BLACK. otherwise, its more premium material this time around as well. sizing is the same, i have wide feet and these fit perfectly fine.

Love the large toe box and this is the first normal production shoe I've had that seemed to really support and help correct my pronating ankle.

Shoe fits well and seems to be of quality construction. I am a bit heavy and stop when I run so this shoe does not provide enough cushion for me. So I will be returning them and getting something a little more chunky.

Definitely Altra's "heavy shoe". Has all the stability and support that other Altra's don't. I'm a big guy and use it as a gym shoe. Good for a wide foot. I feel like a more serious runner would get 6 quality months out of this dynamic shoe.

The shoe is a relatively narrow D width with the toe box around a 4E width. The body feels a little snug to me but that might be because of the stability features. It is comfortable and light with an understated appearance in black. I usually wear a size 9 but had to return them for a 9.5, probably because of bunions rather that the shoe.

Runs a full size small. Striping over mesh looks thin and cheap; do not expect it to last long. So far, so good. Only used once. If you are going to wear socks, get a full size larger; otherwise go 1/2 size larger.

Shoe needs a little more cushioning and this could be a perfect shoe. Holds up well to daily wear.

I wish these had fit as they seem good for overpronation and arch support. I normally wear a women's 8.5 and men's size 7 usually work for me. These were, unfortunately, just a little too small and unavailable in a men's 7.5. In comparison, the Escalante in a size 7 was too wide and long for me. Wish Altra had more consistent sizing and more options for overpronators. This seems to be the only shoe that's not either neutral or for supination.

I have flat, wide feet with bunions so I needed the wide toe box. I've tried every running shoe out there, always some pain somewhere. First time with Altra. 10 miles on them and no foot pain, just a little getting used to the zero drop. So far so good, the one down side I needed to go up 1 full size and they still are a little tight in the width. I did not see a wide on any of the sights. Only give them a 3 because the other reviews said they fit true to size, Cannot agree..

Light, comfortable, stable, awesome, love the zero-drop. I've worn size 14 Men' Brooks Beast for years, and a size 13 Provision was perfect because of the ample room for my middle toes. However, the sole treads began peeling off after 10 days of daily wear and only 4 miles of running. Thanks to Altra's guarantee, I was able to get a refund. I may try one more pair to see if the first bad pair was a fluke.

I like the idea of these shoes! They have a nice wide toe box and there is a nice amount of arch support. Sadly the arches didn't line up well with my feet and it hurt right out of the box.

So you know a little about the basis behind my review, let me tell you that I'm a male, weigh 131 pounds, and have low-volume feet. As far as my running is concerned, I'm a heel-striker who has some pronation, and I run about 35 miles per week at 7.5-9 minutes per mile with hills. Fit of this shoe is wonderful. Roomy in the forefoot and fitted in the mid-foot and heel. Heel to toe transition is very smooth. Really loved the built-in varus wedge. It supported my pronation like few other shoes I've ever worn. This should be a standard for pronation control instead of a rarity. What spoiled this shoe for me was how firm the mid-sole was, particularly on heel strike. On heel strike, the shoe offered little cushioning and was punishingly firm. The firmness in the mid-foot and forefoot was appreciated and helped to control the pronation. Perhaps if Altra were to put their new Ego mid-sole in the heel, at least on the outside, this could be a great shoe. For a contrast, see my review of the Paradigm 4.0.

This shoe was too tight on the back side of the toe box. It squeezed my foot. I returned a size 13 for a 14 and it still was a poor fit. My Torin 3.0 does not exhibit this tightness. It appears that Altra has changed their design shape to the detriment of their shoes. Tried several other models and I had a similar poor fit. Wide toe box is ok but the fit tapers too quickly and squeezes down on my foot. Why the change? Look at the dimensions used that you followed on the Torin 3.0. There also seemed to be very little cushioning in the sole. It felt hard. I also returned this shoe.

If you are looking to correct a collapsed arch these are probably great. If you just have flat feet with no pain otherwise, these have way too much arch support. Feels intrusive.
