Lots of pockets, expandable, everything you need for a flight and nothing you don't. Not that I expected anything less from Timbuk2.

This backpack was amazing out of the packaging. I read the specifications but did not truly expect how versitile the large, expandable main pocket was, nor the amount of inner pockets for the secondary area. The laptop pocket is perfect for my Razer Blade 15 with its padding and side loading access. The build quality of the backpack and all straps are of the high quality expected of the Timbuk2 brand. I am giving this backpack 5 stars, but be aware there is one issue I've had with the design and it is the zipper for the water bottle pocket for when not in use and you desire to keep it flush against the bag. The zipper does get caught on the main elastic band so it takes but a small nudge to fully zip down or up. This is my fourth bag from Timbuk2 and most likely not my last. I can't wait for what is in store in the future.

Backpack from another company failed when the zipper broke after just a couple of years. I wanted to get something high quality and reliable and I looked at many options from Timbuk2. I chose this one because of the pockets and overall capacity, and I'm really happy with it. I typically carry a laptop, an iPad, a library book, my lunch, a knitting project bag, small water bottle, and various small items (glasses, sunglasses, reading glasses, pens, metal straw, wallet, car key, office keys, headphones, hand lotion, reusable grocery bag, Advil, etc.). Do I 100% NEED all of those things every day? No, but like a security blanket, I have to have them. Everything has a place in this bag, and everything fits and the bag still looks tidy and sleek. The ability to expand the bag is there, but I haven't had to use it yet. The materials are high quality and I am hoping and expecting the bag lasts at least a decade. I would have liked more color options.

This is used for me in my business, I purchased this model due it it's versatility and robust looks. As I ma based in the Middle East at the moment, I utilised a USA address to have this shipped to and then forwarded onto myself - this may not have been the cheapest route to follow but it's what I did. My only gripe is that the interior colour of my Jet Black backpack is 'silver' when I expected BLUE! as shown in all the captions for the backpack.

Bought this bag a month ago. The simple lines of this bag are great and it's the perfect size to tote to the office and expands to function well as a small travel bag. Definitely my favorite bag.

I need a backpack that holds my musical instruments, accessories, music and, lap top.I went to Timbuktu with the intention of ordering a custom one, but found this one was perfect for me off the rack. It's roomy, but not too big, and I love all the organizer pockets. My back feels better already. And because it's black, grey, and dark blue, I can take it onstage too. It seems very sturdy and well-made too.

I'm a consultant and travel every week for work. After about 6 months of dragging around a tumi roller plus a small backpack on trains, planes, and automobiles, I decided there had to be a better way. I heard a few other guys at work talk about one bag travel, but most their bags looked pretty bulky so i searched the web and found this timbuk2 bag. I really wanted something big enough to carry enough clothes for a 5 day business trip, small enough to use for daily commuting with laptop, and professional looking for when i'm on client site. this thing delivers. I'm currently between projects, so i decided to fly out to wyoming and visit family for 3 weeks. I'm working remote, and exploring some trails on the weekends. Got here yesterday and everything i brought fit in this bag. i'm amazed. i even brought a couple button up shirts just in case for video calls and fit an additional roll up light weight day backpack for hikes! I'm sold, this bag is awesome. i have one bit of feedback for timbuk2, i wish the bag unzipped all the way (clamshell), but it admittedly hasn't been an issue since i use packing cubes.

This is a great bag! I was looking for something that could fit under the seat in front of me while travelling by plane and that could also hold everything I need. This is the one. The bag is very well built from high quality fabric and it looks fantastic. After researching quite a few bags online, I ended up buying two of these (one for both my wife and myself). She is using hers as a daily carry bag for commuting by train to work and it's perfect, not too big at all. I would use mine too, but I don't want to be too cheesy so I'm using a different bag, but I'm itching to use mine! The bag holds way more than I thought it would easily and expands even more to hold about 30L. The pockets are great and very well placed. The one thing I would suggest as an improvement would be for the buckles that block the zipper to the front organization pocket to be magnetized so as to facilitate/improve speed of access. Typically I just undue the top one right now for expediency. The other thing is that I wish there was a key lanyard in the front vertical slash pocket as that's where I think most people would keep them (I do). Two other minor things that would make this the perfect bag for me would be a top felt slash pocket for glasses and a zippered pocket on the back (top) to stuff the straps in to hide them away while boarding the plane or when holding the bag from the side handle. If Timbuk2 did those things I may buy two more!

Take it everyday with me to office. It meets the capacity demand of both routine workday and short term bussiness trip. The side-zipped computer bag is an excellent design!

Amazing design, the perfect bag for work/gym/lunch/all the things to get me around each day. Haven't flown with it just yet but have my first trip coming up in a couple of weeks and am looking forward to having an organised carry on, with enough space for once!

Love this bag. The fact that is designed so you can access it from the side makes it very easy to use. I looked for bag like this for a long time. This is by far the best one I have found.

The bag feels solid, durable, lightweight and looks classy. It's roomy, the straps are well-padded, and it has numerous pockets of different kinds to store all manner of items. The main compartment is roomy. I store my 12.9'' iPad Pro there with all my cables and adapters. The back compartment is quite roomy for a 15"" laptop. I have my 13.3'' MacBook Pro there. I love the zip compartment in the front for easy access to my pens and passport. The zippers feel solid and are good at keeping out moisture very well. The buckles and exterior (a combination of a black-grey and ink color) and interior (a near midnight shade of blue) give the bag a very professional look.

I have semi-retired my TUMI leather briefcase after years and moved into the Never Check. Fantastic unique look along with great functionality. Separate, easy access to my laptop which is fantastic. Lots of pockets to situate your personal items, gear and paperwork. Versatility spoken here. Made of great durable materials. I have been scouting a bag that would appeal to me for some time and this bag nails it. It is not your typical cookie cutter look backpack. Well done!

I bought this backpack for its water resistant feature. Was tested in the rain immediately after I received it and it works great. Has many pockets and compartments just how I like it. Slim, and not bulky (but can be a little slimmer for my use of it). I also like the separate laptop access which fits my 15" perfectly. One little gripe I have is the zipper is a little sticky in one location, which I hope smooths out after a bit of use.

I work in NYC and use it for my daily commute. Going from the train, subway, or plane It looks modern and sleek and pairs well with my business casual attire. Great for packing light but can accommodate much more although I haven't had to use the expandable zipper just yet. It has the right compartments for what I need. I'm not used to having single zippers though - the small front pocket and laptop compartment have single zippers - I've always felt more secure with double zippers. But, I store small non-valuable items in the small front pocket. As for the laptop compartment, I was initially concerned that the side opening would allow the laptop to easily fall out but when properly worn, the laptop stays in place even with the zipper open. I own various Timbuk2 bags and this backpack has the same quality and practicality Timbuk2 is known for.

Son, living in Seattle, needed a waterproof backpack that could work for work and his trips home. This expandable backpack fits the bill perfectly. It was the perfect birthday present and will accompany him daily to work, fitting his laptop easily, and then when he flies east, he merely expands the bag that fit a couple days of clothes too. Love the look of it and am sure it will keep his stuff dry in the Seattle mist and rain.

This should be called the TARDIS bag. I bought it to be a second, larger backpack for international travel. When I took it out of the shipping package, I was surprised at how compact and manageable everything looked. Then I opened the main compartment and realized it had a ton of space inside enough for all my tech gear and my running shoes. It can be expanded to hold even more stuff. So, bigger on the inside! Within minutes, I had transferred everything from my main backpack (another Timbuk2) and made this my primary backpack.

I've been using the bag for 2 months straight, out of which 5 weeks were international travel with this as my only luggage. It fits everything for my travel needs, yet is small and professional enough to be used in the office. The back panel molds to the shape of the back over time, and the shoulder straps are great, I never had a need to use the chest strap. Organization is fantastic, I can get through most days without having to open the main compartment. It looks very sleek, especially with the asymmetric front. Good enough for professional use, but still works for daily use. Two minor things I would change: The main zipper goes down all the way, but there's a triangular fabric insert at the bottom that prevents the pack from being used as a panel loader, making packing more awkward than necessary. Will probably cut those out at some point. Also, the lower mesh insert in the front organization compartment is very tight when the bag is full. Adding 1" of fabric and zipper would make it much easier to access items in there.

This is an understated, classy, well designed and comfortable backpack. I bought it for short-term trips but it's so well designed I feel great carrying it to any professional function. It's designed so well my laptop feels lighter when carried in it. My old bag was a nice Briggs & Riley with a lifetime warranty but this is my primary laptop bag from now on.
