Beautiful suede, typical Born comfort and fit, but a little slouching at the ankle has created pain after my first wearing, so I'm cautiously optimistic that after a couple of more wearings, these will be broken in and the slouching leather will soften and not create pain and rubbing along the inside of my ankles.

I got the 8.5 so I can use an arch support cushion which runs the full length of foot. I have average calves and I found the regular calf to run on the roomy side and roomy ankles too. I wish Born would make a boot that actually flatters the ankle and calf and not make these hip wader style boots for dress boots. On the Zappos video the model looks like she's wearing hip waders as they flap around so much at the calf. this style comes in a wide calf but the regular calf feels like a wide calf. The lace up does little to cinch it in. Otherwise the boot is nice with a perfect heel height and suede is nice, good color in grey and rust, which is a nice brown tone. I also will be either replacing the laces with a thinner more manageable lace, and or keeping the laces tied in a knot with the extra partially cut off and tucked inside. This lace up back needs to be refined.

These boots are very nice, but am disappointed that the calf was too narrow, and I don't have wide calves. I couldn't get them zipped up. I wish that I could have!

I'm 5' 3 1/2" with muscular calves--I got the size 9. I am usually an 8.5 or 9 in most boots. The 8.5 was too tight. The fit of the 9 is good--snug with jeans but I expect the leather will loosen slightly with wear. I would like the boots to come up a little higher under my knee which makes your leg look longer, but it's good enough. The color and texture of these boots (rust) is perfection. I also like that they are not super flat--a small heel that is very flattering for a riding boot. Very versatile boots. I expect to get a lot of wear out of them.

Nice boot but a tiny too narrow at the widest part of my big foot. My foot is wide but 99% of the time I can wear a medium width. I asked if this boot was suede because it looks like it is to me. The reply was no....but I really think it is a suede. It is soft. Is distressed leather the same as suede?

I loved these boots, but due to the "distressed" look, the toes on the boots look like they were "old" without having ever worn them. I feared they would look awful after just one or two wearings. They also were a bit more casual than I had hoped. I ended up returning them as they just were just not the right boot for a more dressy look.

Very comfortable boots with a beautiful finish. However, the back doesn’t really adjust. So if you have a slightly athletic calf, this will probably not work for you.

Great color but not a true wide calf, about 1/2” to 1” less than most advertised “wide-calf” boots. Had to slouch them down and open the laces all the way, but knew I wouldn’t wear them like that. Had to return.

Felt tight in the toes, but the length was right. I would hate to go half a size up and then have the heel slip around. Not nearly as comfortable as the other pair of Born boots I just bought. I'll be trying a different brand next time.

Fit was good, but the "distressed" toe and heel just made it look old and worn out.

Love these boots, and I have fairly skinny calves, but I could barely zip these up. I'm returning them, reluctantly.

I was super excited about these, but after wearing them for a few hours, my feet were starting to hurt. I wore them around the house. I have flat feet & bunions, so I'm hard sell for good shoes. I need more support & superb comfort for that price point. I'll keep looking for style and comfort.

Felt too tight.

The zipper on one of these boots gave after just a month or so of wearing them and not even particularly frequently. I would really like a replacement!
