Our 10 year old son has been wearing his Merrill sneakers for a few weeks and loves them. We live in Maine and want to do some late fall hiking where there can be cold rain or early snow. The shoes are both comfortable and waterproof.

My kids tend to be on the warm side. Getting them winter shoes that are lines gets them uncomfortable. Inlove merrel has half sizes for kids. My son is not 13 anymore yet size 1.0 in kids is way too big. Shoes have grip for snowy and icy sidewalks! Love it!

So far my son loves these shoes. He said they are very comfortable and he loves the look. They seem to be very durable, which is needed for my very active child.

Got these for an overnight backpacking trip for an 8yo. Sized up by a half size to accommodate thicker hiking socks. After carrying 15 lbs over a 2-day, 13-mile backpacking trip, kiddo reported that shoes were comfortable and supportive. Did not find any hot spots or blisters. Had to ford a shallow stream - shoe dried out quickly. Also, hiked through some really muddy spots - shoe cleaned up nicely after rinsing off with a hose when we got home.

Ordered for my son using his Keens to compare but these were much smaller in size, so you may want to consider going at lease a half size bigger depending on how long you want them to fit.

I've only had these for 3 months and they are starting to come apart. Very comfortable but don't last long. I like Merrell in general but won't buy this specific shoe again.

I have small feet and often order kids shoes size 3W. I ordered sizes 3W and 3.5W and am glad I did because the 3W was too small. I wore these shoes for the first time on a short hike in Michigan and got some small blisters, but the shoes were pretty comfortable on following hikes, they just needed to be broken in. I took them on a trip out west to a variety of national parks, and they held up well.
I have noticed that even though I ordered wide shoes, my toes still feel a little cramped in the toe box. The laces also do not lace up tightly due to the small amount of lacing holes, so I found myself having to retie the shoes every hour or so. These are fine hiking shoes from what I can tell, and I will keep them for a while, but for me, they're not to die for

We bought this pair for our 8 year old boy. He really liked the shoes but unfortunately they were just too small

Purchased these shoes for my 11 yr son. He is about 80 lbs. he liked the shoes and stated they were comfortable while he wore them for about a week around the house and such. Then we took them hiking after one day of hiking he started to complain the bottom of his feet hurt bad. We hike 15 miles that day and when we got back I chexked them out and the insoles were flattened like paper. There was not padding left in them they were just crushed flat. We put Dr Scolls insoles in them and completed a 20 mile hike the next day up Half Dome in Yosemite and to other trails with not complaints at all. So address the poor insile padding and its a good shoes.

Horrible product! Hurt my sons feet with something jabbing him on the foot the first day- bad workmanship. Also the threads on top seam are unraveling. Waste of money.
