I have bought several pairs of Merrill hiking shoes over the past few years. I usually buy men's shoes because my feet need wider shoes. I have found that most shoe makers don't believe women can have wide feet. But, I liked the style of these shoes and I wanted to buy women's shoes, so, I ordered longer and hoped the medium width would be okay. It wasn't. The shoes were much too narrow and the length did not help. The other problem I had, that I find in many women's hiking shoes, is that the shoe strings are too short. I normally double knot my hiking shoes because they don't stay tied well. These strings were too short to double knot. They were returned.

These are Great! true to fit - very comfortable. I have low arches, and these are great for support without irritating them. Super light weight - almost don't feel like I'm wearing hiking boots.

I wear leg braces, so I had to remove the inner sole to fit my braces in the shoe. There aren’t too many shoes out there that I can wear, but these are comfortable and fit the braces well and give me stability. I just wish I could find all this in a more stylish shoe, something more feminine and pretty.

I really liked this shoe. However when I removed the insole and placed my orthotic in, it was too tight. This shoe doesn't come in wide.

Got these in 9.5. The heel was loose and the toe box is a little too tapered for my left foot which has a bunion. Returning.

Would have been perfect, but left side, the top of shoe rubbed against my ankle bone. It would have bothered me constantly. I had to return these, unfortunately.

These are great shoes and I really wish I wasn't returning them. I have difficulties with shoes that have laces and it is hit-or-miss. Unfortunately, these were a miss. Good comfort, support and the removable insole has decent arch support (for most people). I am a 6.5. The 6.5 fit true to size unless I added my orthotics, then I had to go to a 7 and that fit well. I bought the slate/black and thought they were cute. I think they are even cuter on than in the picture. For everyone else they would be great walking shoes and I recommend them.

I love these shoes. I have one size 10.5 foot and one size 11 foot. It is extremely hard for me to buy shoes to fit. My foot is rather narrow, but the medium width worked. I bought these in black and tan.

Excellent!!! I was able to remove the inner soles to accommodate room for my leg braces.

This shoe was by far the best of the Merrells I tried and I tried a number of them. (Thank you Zappos!) First, the monument/wing color is great. The grey is more of a neutral, while the seaglass adds just a bit of color to make the shoe more fun. I did order a half size larger. At this point I do not know if it is a change in my foot or a change in the manufacturing. This increase in size often also changes the width of the shoe for me. In this case the shoe must run on the narrow side since I could still tighten the laces withou a bunch in the toe box. I also have a higher instep which can make shoes look odd because the laces won’t close on top. In this case this does not occur and the shoe makes my foot look proportional. It provides sturdy support for a walking shoe and hopefully I can do some hiking in it as well. The arch support is good, but I see this as one of the areas that Merrell could continue to improve on.

These shoes look like they would be comfortable, and may be ok for light wear, but they feel thin, with little support and a lack of cushioning for the bottom of the foot, which means they would Not be good for a serious walker. Zappos is so efficient.

Terrific shoes. Waterproof. Good for city walking. Supportive. Comfortable like Merrells usually are! Roomy enough without feeling like my feet are swimming around inside them!

Fits great. This is actually my second pair of these shoes. It’s hard to find a shoe that is so versatile.

Handsome shoe and well made. Exceptionally happy with the quality of the Merrell brand. Sold on the brand and pricing. Purchased these and a second Merrell hiking style for an upcoming trip to Western Canada. Have worn each pair to “break in” and it took little time for them to feel totally comfortable.

These are very comfy with nice arch support and feel substantial. They're also light and cute, not clunky looking as some hiking boots. As others have said, these run small. I ordered a 1/2 size larger and they fit perfect. I do wish they were waterproof but I think the leather will keep out water pretty good. I've been looking for a supportive and attractive hiking shoe for Europe and I do believe this is it!

Bought 1/2 size larger based on other reviews and they fit perfect. Exactly what I wanted, black and light weight. First time out went in 6 mi hike and feet felt fine afterwards. Could be a tad more cushy but worked out fine.

Love at first sight! They fit just like an 8 1/2 with socks. They feel comfortable and lightweight and I will test them out when hiking in Panama. I’m sure they will be fine.

They feel really comfortable and seem to have good support. I bought them for a trip to Europe as I will be walking a lot and will be doing a little bit of hiking. I love merrells and wear the jungle Mocs everyday at home. I wear a size 9 in the Jungle Mocs but wear a 9.5 in hiking shoes.

I took a steep 4 mile hike today, lots of up and down. This was the first true test of these new hiking shoes. They were great! Very comfortable. I took the insole out and put my orthotics in, and the fit was excellent. I got a half size bigger than my normal size to be sure that my orthotics would fit. I like the brown and black color - I am not one to like flashy bright colors. These are subtle and toned down.

Just was a bit too small...

Bought these for a trip to Machu Picchu. They are just what I was looking for! Comfortable on first day, wore them in rain and shine, no problems. Would highly recommend and I’ve never gone wrong with the Merrill brand.

Comfortable shoe! Light weight, yet good support.

Extremely comfortable shoes. I struggle to find shoes that are comfortable on my feet and look good. These are casual but work with jeans and khakis at the office. Even the shoestrings are good and not slippery like most shoestrings.

Pretty much everything about this shoe was as expected except the length was slightly short. It’s a good rugged shoe with good protection and support for hiking and walking.
