Alright, 200 miles with these shoes and I think I should finally write the review I keep saying I'm going to write. First thing's first: break in time. These are Salomon shoes, break in was about a mile, and everything felt fine. I've been using these for road walking/jogging, which is not really what they're intended for, but they were great. Plenty of traction even on damp surfaces, great in grass and dirt, basically good all-surface shoes. I was wearing them during the winter, but they were warm enough that I didn't mind the mesh upper. Will I buy them again? Probably. Will I recommend them for people doing casual hiking on easy terrain and dry condition? Yes.

I'm finding a trend with many Salomon shoes that they tend to be narrow, and this pushes up the outside of the insole to result in uneven support of my foot. The Salomon Trailster and the Outline look very different, but the Trailster must be slightly wider to better support my foot. The styling is nice but these unfortunately don't fit me.

I’ve had these Salomon Outline’s since Oct. at first they were amazing.. right out of the box they were the most comfortable pair of shoes I’ve ever owned. They looked amazing too for hiking shoes. Living in Florida we don’t have any “real” places to hike, but being a photographer I have the opportunity to travel and hike wherever I go. I took these on a couple trips to north GA and hikes a few portions of the Appalachian Trail. This is where the shoes started to fail. They really do not grip on ice. (I managed to find myself in the middle of a freak snow storm and the trail froze” the rocks were relentless as well, and unfortunately the Solomon Outlines did not hold up to adding and additional comfort. I also made a trip out to TX and OK for some hiking as well, and just as in GA my feet were quite sore from the rock hoping and skipping whole hiking. I will add they do dry out fairly fast when they do get wet, and they breathe great in the heat. But these are simply just nice trail shoes not a light hiking shoe. I’ll definitely keep using them around here in Florida, but I believe I need to get a better pairs for my out of state adventures.

Ended up needing a half size smaller than my usual in the same brand. Super comfortable!

Salomons always feel the best to me. These did feel slightly large in the toe area. I could have went a half size smaller than normal.
