I used to love Salomon shoes, I have had several pairs and they used to be my go to hiking shoes. They are finally getting worn out so I need new ones, but these are just not the same, not even close. Salomon has changed their quality as they are no longer nice and padded with thick comfortable soles. These shoes are not comfortable inside, there is no padding, the tongue is very thin and narrow and the footbed feels thin. They also feel narrow, not just in the front by the toes but at the midpoint of your foot as well. I'm sad I have to return these and find a new go to hiking shoe. I wish Salomon would go back to the way they used to be a few years ago as they feel like they have gone cheap.
I'd also recommend:
I don't know, would like a recommendation myself for quality hiking shoes.

I've had these for a few months now. I honestly got these to try out for Disc Golf. They have kept my feet dry, stuck to all surfaces amazingly well and very light. I've worn them in all conditions/terrain (rain, mud, rock, concrete, wet grass, etc.) besides snow. Kept my feet dry and comfortable. There is only one Con and it isn't anything I'm surprised about. The outside sole (rubber) is very very soft and with twisting on the concrete tee pads it is wearing out pretty fast. But like I said, not surprised. Super soft grippy rubber wears out faster than harder rubber. It's a compromise to have premium grip. I've been in the industry for a long time (climbing/hiking/etc. with experience in many brands) and Salomon has the best shoes in the game. With all this being said I wouldn't hesitate to say these would be perfect for light/quick day hikes that need premium grip in all weather conditions. Great shoe!

Have had these boots for about a month and a half now; I them every day at work. I have fairly wide feet and was worried that these boots would fit right as they don't sell a wide option. I tried them on in the store, noticed how tight they were and decided to take a chance and order them anyways. My feet were a little uncomfortable for a day or too but they are broken in now and are the most comfortable boot I've ever worn. I've worn them in the woods and mountains so far and they've held up great. I also have run in them and put some serious miles in hiking with them so far. Haven't developed any hotspots and they've held up great so far. They stand up well in the Washington weather too. They obviously arent waterproof but the Gore-tex does a great job of keeping your feet dry. I will wait to see how well they hold up I've had tearing in the outside of my last two pairs of Salomon boots after a few months of serious use but these seem to be a little more durable. Would definitly by again

Had these boots for a month now in the middle of winter. They are really comfortable out of the box and have excellent traction in snowy terrain. Paired with a Marino wool sock they are perfect. Gore tex keeps your feet nice and dry. They are exactly what I have come to expect from Salmon, a comfortable, functional, built to last boot.

Bought a pair almost 2 years ago. These are one of my favorite boots I've ever worn. I like an athletic/tennis shoe like feel. It is a narrow boot and at first I felt like it was fairly skinny/tight but I've absolutely loved these things. I hike a lot and have worn these up and down many different slated rock mountains, and always like to get them wet in a creek because the Goretex actually works. I got a permit to hike the JMT this year and I'm going to order a brand new pair for it, that's how confident I am in them. I have these neck and neck with my Lowa GDX's, but these provide a bit more athletic feel, while the Lowas may have an edge on durability.

I've used these shoes on a few 10+ mile days in the wet, rainy Cascades, and they do not disappoint! Through rainy downpours, slippery creek crossings, and days of wear, they held up. They have an amazing amount of grip too -- while walking some icy paths my friends were slipping and sliding, but I was fine. They kept me dry and happy. I usually wear shoes/trail runners and these really do a great job of being the middle man between shoes and boots. They take a few days to make the toe box fit well, but I didn't get a single blister wearing them. Amazing shoes!

My Wife and I got the GTX Outlines for our recent trip to Havasu Falls. I was a bit worried since we had no time to break them in, but honestly they were super comfortable and didn't cause any hot spots after 30 plus miles over the course of three days. Having the Gore-tex was also nice since we had a few shallow spots of water to cross, they kept our feet dry. The ankle support I would say is average, but did the job. I've worn Salomon shoes in the past and love the grip they have on the trail, these were every bit as good as my past shoes. One thing that I do need to mention is that I wouldn't say they are great for long backpacking trips. They are more of a day hiker boot, but it's not to say they can't do the job of a long backpack, they're just not made for that in my opinion. Overall I'm really happy with them, I also like the style and look of them, they have a more urban feel which I really like.

I sell this in my shop and is one of the most popular mid-level hiking boots we sell. I had to get a pair myself, they are incredibly comfortable.

I just started wearing them today, and the fit was excellent. I have a small food and depending on the shoe, I can wear sizes from 6.5 to 8. Since I wear a size 8 walking shoe, the representative recommended I go with an 8 in these boots. The length and width are very good, and although I haven't worn them a lot yet, the shoes appear to have good arch support. The mesh is breathable. I have shifted to these shoes since I broke my ankle a year ago; my orthopedist thought it would be good from a safety and comfort perspective. Thus far, these shoes/boots fit the bill. They look good too!

I posted that the boots are great. They are. Only not waterproof. Salomon came through on a warranty replacement. Thank you Salomon. I am still a loyal customer. Great lighter hiking boot if you don't need waterproof.

Comfortable on the foot, very light but zero grip on wet surfaces and does not seem waterproof at all compared to my Salomon XA Discovery GTX. I recommend looking at a different Salomon boot unless you only hike in the dry.

I loved these boots. Snug, comfortable, they feel like half hiking boot, half trail shoe. All good until the first time using them on a trail crossing a stream. Water got up on the front of both boots just to the lowest eyelet. Should be no big deal, except both feet got soaked at the front. I specifically sought out a gor-tex waterproof boot and paid a premium for situations exactly like this. They couldn't keep your feet dry getting water on them crossing a small stream. These boots are NOT waterproof. Imagine wearing them on a hike in the pouring rain? Very disappointed.

Out of the box, I hiked 8 miles of The White Mountian Range with no issues. Great support and ruggedness. This was my first experience with Salomon, I couldn't be more pleased. Boot ran about a half size small.

I have a narrow heel. Any regular-sized boot will rub blisters up to the size of a half-dollar after 4 miles. I normally hike between 6- 10 miles without any concerns in these boots! The feel is great and when worn out will buy another pair.

This boot keeps you dry and comfortable on the trail. I've stepped in one foot of mud (hiking in Dolly Sods, WV) and walked through six inches of creek water, no wetness inside the boot at all. It's also a very comfortable ride, you feel protected when your foot lands on the ground. The tread and support isn't as aggressive as the 3D/Ultra lines (which I also love and should be a better choice for heavier backpacking loads through rough terrain), but it's a complete package for what it is: a reliable waterproof boot for everyday situations.

I don't like wearing big hiking boots so I tend to wear trail runners even for multiday trips, but when the weather turns it's nice to have something that feels like runners but offer a bit more protection against the elements and puddles. These mid-top boots are perfect for that. I wear them daily in the city too when it's raining. I find the fit quite narrow at the toes so I went up a half size and they fit great.

Great boot that feels like a running shoe. The fit and comfort are excellent. Light weight with minimal support but just enough to make the difference. They have kept out water but don't expect dry feet if you wade above the ankles as tongue has minimal covering there. Great boot love them.

Developing some land, have destroyed a few pairs of running shoes out there because I don't want to wear bulky hiking boots all day. This is the perfect thing for my feet. These are essentially high top, waterproof, durable/indestructible, comfortable, running shoes. They handle the puddles, dirt, thorns, rocks, anything I can throw at them. They are also comfortable enough to run in on the trails. Can't say enough great things.
