I don't understand the positive reviews for this jacket. I find it to have little warmth and it feels like a cheap jacket from an outlet store. The insulation is flimsy and the zippers are ok but don't feel nearly as sturdy as competitors (many who also have two-way zippers). I don't know what I'm missing--I really have tried and wanted to love this jacket but it'll just take up room in my closet. And it's not about the money--I'm happy to spend on a great jacket, it's about quality.
I'm in marketing and know all of the Q&A you see in places about "why does Arc'teryx cost so much" and other things that talk about the amazingness of Arc'teryx are extremely likely to have been planted by the brand's communications and digital teams, but maybe it's me. I'm a quality snob and this is just a huge miss in my book.

After just over a month and with no more than 10 light wears my has started to show pulls and pilling and just generally poor wear. Would definitely expect better given the brand reputation and the price.

I bought this a few months ago, but only wore it this season a couple of times. Super disappointed with the quality of this as I've never experienced this with Arcteryx stuff in the past. In the photo you can see the back of the jacket has the fabric pilling so much it looks like it's falling apart. The water resistance is obviously compromised as well. Got this in-person from a store while traveling so I can't even return it to the original store. Pretty disappointed with this potentially defective but otherwise fine product.

I bought the 2021 Time-lapse model to replace my 2019 Atom LT and was dismayed by the fit of it. It was overly baggy around the arms, way too long of a length in the front and unnecessarily longer arms makes for a very clumsy look
The previoud 2019 fit was spot on, short enough in the front, boxy enough to layer without looking clumsy

I bought my Atom LT on the outlet store last summer but didn't wear it until the fall. I used it for 30 - 40 hours of backpacking over a two month period, and sporadically on short hikes and while walking my dogs. I had bought a second jacket in the same class as the Atom from a budget brand and only used the Atom when the forecast was calling for high winds due to its amazing hood.
Midway through the fall, I noticed the back side of the Atom's zipper garage had begun not only to pill, but appeared to be shriveling up and dissolving (see first picture). I've owned a number of Arc'teryx items and have come to love the brand based on the quality of it's clothing, so I was surprised and disappointed to see the fabric of one of it's signature items fail so quickly. Nevertheless, it didn't seem like a big deal to have a seamstress sew a thin piece of felt on to that area as well as the other parts of the jacket that rubbed against my chin which had also begun to show premature signs of wear. I decided to wait until next spring to have that work done and put the jacket into storage.
It got unexpectedly warm and windy this week, so I took the jacket out of storage and noticed, for the first time and to my dismay, that there are two large holes in the insulation in the back of the jacket (see second picture). Shining a light on the jacket revealed that much of the remaining insulation in the back has begun to thin and separate. A detailed inspection also revealed insulation escaping through the stitching (see third picture) and pilling on the brim (see fourth picture).
My budget insulated jacket, in contrast, still looks new, despite even more use than the Atom. My Gamma LT, which I always wore over the Atom and the budget jacket, and which I've never been delicate with also still looks new.
I will never buy another insulated jacket from Arc'teryx and may turn towards other brands in the future for my high-end, outdoor performance clothing needs.

Super warm, love the fit, but it literally started disintegrating, ripping, and falling apart when exposed to zero abuse.
Warranty isn't helpful so I would say save your money, you can probably get a better jacket for less elsewhere

I'm not usually someone who does reviews, but I bought this jacket in the spring, and I wish I had bought something else. My first complaint is that it shows dirt and grime very quickly, the wrists feel like a ribbon material, and the discolouring comes on quickly. I would not recommend having this jacket as a standalone, which is what I was hoping it would be. You need a Gortex cover; otherwise, this hoodie will look dirty and get torn very quickly. Yesterday a spark touched my sleeve, and it burned a massive hole in no time at all. So it's completely ruined now. Save your money and go with something else. If you want a "hoodie," just buy a hoodie, and get a jacket that's more durable than this.

Dear Arcteryx,
This was one of my favourite jackets by you. I bought multiple ones, the first one in 2016. They always fit. Unfortunately, the new fit is not good. It is too trim around the shoulders and the hips. It feels constrained when I cross my arms and it is very tight around the hips.
My body has not changed. The older versions still fit fine. Worst decision ever is that you shortened the arms. In cycling position the arms go beyond my wrists up.
I owe in comparison a new Beta AR, Atom AR, they all became wider and longer, even in the arms. While this was also odd, it is better than trimming everything.
I think that change in design is also why you introduced suddenly a women XXL. But do you know, that none of the retailers in Europe have it? What's the point, if you don't force retails to sell as well XXL and potentially XL. In France, often L is the max. size in store. I checked multiple big outdoors shops, none of them have the XXL version. What's the whole point to change such a good jacket that was selling well for so long?!
I am sorry, but I don't think I will buy any Atom LT until it changes back. I loved it and planned to by more in other colours, but ain't going to happen.

Material is horrible!
I have had this product for one year now. I Only washed the coat one time following all instructions for wash. After the first wash I started noticing a defect in the material around the hood and back of the coat. The picture here is after the second wash

While the jacket is very comfortable, versatile and light the outer layer will get torn very very easily and will not be fixed under the "lifetime warranty". I have only owned this jacket for 3 months and the outer layer got torn! Really bummed at the quality and not at all what i expected for longevity so be aware!

Long-time fan of the brand. They've always done everything perfectly - design ethos, materials, technical functionality, etc. However, the newly redesigned Atom jackets and vests have deviated from that historical consistency.
Take this jacket - the logo is now STITCHED on. In the past it's been printed on. Perhaps the brand thought the print logo would wear away over time, but that has never been my experience no matter what the age and how many times the product had been washed.
That former print logo has always had a beautiful sheen to it that popped, but the new stitching is ugly and dull and as a result, the branding just falls flat. Blah. Bring back the old logo, ditch the terrible stitching and stop changing things that don't need changed!!!
Because Arcteryx has been so consistent historically, I've recently made the mistake of buying a few new jackets, failing to look at them or put them on to test, and have washed only to find out later how disappointed I am, but of course with no recourse to return now.
I give the jacket a 1/5 stars now. I get that the deviation from the norm is minor - it's just a logo - but again, if something is not broken, don't fix it. Moreover, because the brand ethos has always been minimalist, and because people that buy the brand tend to have a minimalist mindset too, even the tiniest changes relative to baseline blow it all up for me psychologically. Sounds ridiculous, but that's just the way it is.

I bought this jacket last year to use during this winter. I have delta LT and hard shell jacket from Arc'teryx. I had high hopes from this expensive and popular jacket. I have used this jacket ~10 times as mid layer this winter. Zipper broke on the day of my critical winter hike causing huge inconvenience. I had plans to get proton LT and beta AR for severe cold hikes but I need to look for more durable and reliable alternatives now.

I have owned several Atoms over the years and loved them. However, the most recent one I bought developed small holes in random areas after 1 month. There had been minimal wear and it was never washed. Arc'teryx wasn't willing to resolve the issue, despite their "practical product lifespan" warranty. Obviously the quality isn't what is used to be.
Dissapointed,

EXTREMELY disappointed with this product. I usually think of Arc'teryx as a reliable brand with good quality outdoor gear, but they really dropped the ball on this one.. After just a few days of normal use, there was already a tear on the jacket (not sure how it happened). This had never happened to me before so I brought it back to get it fixed, I had to pay the repair cost and just a few days after getting it back there was already more damage to the outer layer of jacket. The jacket itself is confortable and fits nicely, but it might not last you through the season. Overall, I regret this purchase.

I used mine three times briefly, once with a small, lightweight backpack on, I have not even washed it yet, it has not been anywhere a source of heat, yet the material has all scrunched up in several places in an ugly way. I don't see how it could be linked to wearing a backpack since the material under the shoulder straps has not been affected, the scrunched up material is spread unevenly on the back. It certainly doesn't look as though this jacket will last very long... Given the price I am definitely not impressed!

Let me start with I LOVE ARCTERYX. I have more items than I can count. This is my second Atom hoodie my first was stolen after 1 year. I loved my first Atom so much I went out and bought a replacement right away. I have had it for 2 weeks and to my dismay the back is destroyed. The fabric has worn through to the point where it's almost see through. I haven't even had a chance to actually use it so this damage occurred from wearing into town. I'm so disappointed.

Bought this piece for my partner ahead of a ski trip to NZ. After a couple commutes into work, the threads along the cuff all came undone. We were left scratching our heads and decided the get the cuff professionally repaired. Fast forward to NZ and all the threads throughout the jacket started to come undone which lead me on the believe there was some kind of defect. Note that threads had unravelled throughout all the inside panels of the jacket and outside along the sleeves.
After raising an RA, we were told that the threads coming out were down to general wear and tear which was really disappointing to hear. After owning a Theta AR, Photon and phase AR thermals myself and putting them through the ringer, I've never had such issues with threads coming out (Tassie/ bucket loads of trips up in the Mountains of South island NZ).

It's comfortable and lightweight but not durable at all. Worn with a backpack and over-layer a couple of times on walks and it's already showing signs of wear and bad bobbling. Returned it and got it back with the bobbling removed (doesn't solve the problem). Very poor for a 200 garment.
