I've had this for a few weeks and so far here's my assessment:
Pros: waterproof and windproof
Love the color
Fot is good overall
Hood is very adjustable and easy to see in - best one I've had
Collar also very adjustable - this is great
Seems durable - time will tell
Cons: very noisy - like wearing a paper bag
Zippers are difficult to move, not smooth
General: fit is good overall but the arms are a bit long.

Used this all of last winter in below 0 degrees celsius weather mostly doing mild output outdoor activities. Really comfotable fit allowing for unrestricted movement even with layers underneath. Breathes wuite well and if it gets too warm the pit zips help a ton.
As I have a beard the stand up collar is a littlebit annoying but other than that I have found no issues with this jacket.

Compare with ALPHA AR JACKET I like Beta AR design better, especially the design of the two front pockets. I was trying to get a better color (red-bright) and was wating for a long time. But Custom Service told me that the new color would not come until in Dec. So finally, I selected the pinkish purple color since I need a replacement for my old Beta AR jacket for this season.

I have had it for 3 years and after 1/2-2 years the GoreTex began detaching around the sleeves.
After just under 3 years one zipper broke, teeth detached in an area leaving a whole between the teeth and the rest of the zipper leaving it not water proof and unusable to zip all the way at least without it breaking further.
Was very very good while it lasted though I expected it to last at least twice as long special when thinking of my very light use pattern and the price tag.
Its a 50/50 for me regarding recommending.
If durability was better this would be the best for all-round use.

I own this and anther arctyex shell because they are the best built. Unfortunately those who aren't perfectly slender climbers will have trouble with the fit in the waist and hem areas. I'm 6' 190 and the large fits fine in the top but the bottom is just a little restrictive.

I shopped around for a Gortex shell to invest in. I chose the Beta specifically for the collar, so please keep it! It's great for keeping out the elements with the hood down. My only complaint is the sizing. I am between xs and small, opted for the small for layering. The shoulders in both sizes seemed to have too much fabric. Some reviews said the jacket wore better after some use, I still find it an issue still. I have broad shoulders and even with layers underneath there is still extra fabric that bunches up in the shoulder area. For the price point, I want it to fit amazing which is why I give it four stars. I'm also not a fan of the colour scheme these days, bring back vibrant mountain colours! Also shout out to Arcteryx customer service, it's a big factor when deciding on Arcteryx so keep up the good work!

I bought the BETA AR Jacket and I am very please with the fit and feel of it! I was surprised how different the colour was from the original website picture. I got the Kingfisher orange and the coat I received is a lot more of a light brown than orange. I expected a different tone but not a different colour.

This is my first Arcteryx Goretex jacket. It is a great jacket overall especially for waterproof and windoroof. The only drawback for this jacket is the hood. It is more designed for people to wear helmet inside, otherwise you need to adjust which could be annoying.

Pretty much everyone has had a similar experience with the jacket. Waterproof, durable, yadda, yadda, yadda. Just one thing, the sleeves are like slender man long. Most places fit alright, ample spaces for layers under, but I am short and can't really downsize from XS, gonna look like I have super long arms. Maybe just the cutting of this year.

This jacket was my first Arc'teryx product and I was so excited when it arrived. The jacket itself feels amazing and the materials are excellent. The only problem is that the sleeves are just crazy long. Like 3 inches too long. I ordered a small and the jacket fits perfectly everywhere else so I wouldn't bother sizing down, especially since I'll usually be wearing this on top of other layers. But I just don't understand why the sleeves are so long. You can tighten the cuffs which is nice but I think I actually have slightly long arms for my size and the sleeves come down to the very tips of my fingers before any adjustments. Just kind of bummed that i have so much extra material bunched up on my arms Overall, almost perfect jacket, the sleeves are truly the only flaw for me.

I have had this jacket for a while, and it has done everything expected and advertised. However, I wish the jacket was a bit longer

Just purchased a second one after destroying the last one. My previous Beta AR lasted 10 years. I wasn't very easy on it. Surprised it asked that long. Was happy to buy a new one knowing it would serve me well for the next decade.

This replaced my first beta AR (which I loved until it delaminated after only one season and the pockets would fill with water). I would like to think I simply had a jacket that slipped through the cracks in terms of quality control, especially as none of the quick "fixes" worked either. But oh how I miss that Whiskey Jack colour.
Can't fault the customer service - this was very quickly taken care of for me in terms of a credit and once I could find a replacement (I get it - the outdoors is in an even higher demand during Covid). However I wanted to upgrade to Alpha AR which was to be "restocked in 2 weeks" yet that message lasted for 2 months until I was informed "try Fall 2021". So I'm giving the beta a second chance.
Have high hopes for my replacement especially as the price has since increased and I still think highly of the brand. I can understand wear & tear but I'll be raising my eyebrows if I only get a season out of this. I have no problem paying for quality but that's what I should then receive.
The kingfisher colour is much nicer in reality than online too (apparently I like the bird theme colours). I can still nicely layer underneath too even in an XS. Sleeves a bit long on me but not a big deal in the grand scheme.

I bought this jacket for both backcountry skiing and mtn climbing in the NW where it can get pretty wet. So far i've mostly used it for bc skiing and it has performed very well by keeping me completely dry when snowing hard and of course blocking the wind. It seems to breathe pretty well also. I've also had it out on some mtn climbing trips where it was snowing hard and it performed well. The reason i gave it 4 stars instead of 5 is i wish it came in a shorter sleeve length. I ordered a small which is the correct size for me but the sleeves are just too long for a person of my height.

Practical and versatile coat and seems robust. Has enough features to be worn in extreme weather but is smart enough to be worn casually too. 4/5 as the hood doesn't pack away, but other than that a fantastic hard wearing jacket.

Great jacket...really keeps you dry. The underarm zipper is an excellent feature to have. The velcro around the wrist is very strong. On the down side, I wish it had a packable bag to put it in so you can just hook it onto a backpack

I bought this to replace my Beta LT I had and so glad I did. It's a perfect fit and keeps me dry. I wear this everywhere. The hood is big but not too big and has a cinch if needed. I don't carry a purse/bag if I'm out for a walk, and wished there was an extra chest pocket for my credit card or cash so I can keep my hands in my pocket without worrying that they'd fall out when I take my hands out.

1st Arcteryx jacket. Very durable. Big fan of the side pockets which most of my shell jackets have. Not a big fan of the hood. I like the fast the goretex logo is the same color of the jacket.

I've had this for over a year now and it's been great, I've used it around the city, for hiking, backpacking, and skiing. It's kept me dry the whole time! And the pit zips are great for venting.
My main issue is that I personally don't like the drophood, the collar doesn't nest well with other hoods and I prefer the bigger stormhood that covers more of your face. It's also really big - this means it can look a bit weird if you're using it with just a tshirt underneath. So unless you know you're layering a lot you should size down.
Overall an excellent do it all jacket!

I had a Beta AR in 2010. Served me well for a solid decade. I have lived in Nunavut and wore this as part of a layered setup. When a cold blizzard is blasting and you need to keep going, this is what you want to wear... or maybe the SV version but I was walking to the grocery not crossing antarctica.
In 10 years, the goretex did not delaminate, but the bottom fold holding the bottom cord came unglued. I contacted the customer support expecting to be told it was out of warranty and that they couldn't do anything. But to the contrary, they were standing behind their product.
I was really happy with the solution they proposed and I ended up ordering another of the same jacket but this year. The construction quality is outstanding. The fabric feels even more rugged than my old one.
If you read stories about delamination, or glue coming off, know 2 things: it usually happens after more than a few years, and arc'teryx does stand behind their product.
Can you think of many other pieces of clothing that lasted you a decade?

This sturdy Gore-Tex shell is my go-to outer-layer when I need the most weather protection. For wet days, it keeps me dry, and when it's bone-chilling cold and windy, it's a great barrier between my insulation and the harsh world outside. Zippers are in the right places, hood fits over a helmet, cuffs are easy to manipulate with gloves, and no superfluous peices.

I wear this jacket for hiking and skiing. Overall it's a great waterproof jacket unless you caring about plastic sound when you move your arm. 4 stars because I got some white stain on my black jacket. Not sure why it's can't be wiped with a wet cloth.

So, I purchased my Beta AR a month ago. it got its first use on a raining morning on the trail. performance was excellent with no water penetration in moderate to heavy rain for about 4 hours. My one gripe is that the jacket got dirt marks along some creases where my pack's wait strap was cinched down. I washed it immediately after getting home (per the instructions with the Nu Care detergent), and these dirt marks didnt come out. I did get the Glade color, so I understand that dirt will be easier to see. Still, I'm disappointed that my first noderate use already has these lifetime stains.

Love everything about this jacket except when it is zipped up to the top - the chin guard comes up so high on my face that it is extremely uncomfortable - it rubs on the chin because the jacket is so stiff around that area due to the heavy duty zip and the stiffened fabric around the chin area. Maybe ok if you wear a balaclava over your face or have fabric that can be covering your chin to stop the friction....but it can be raining in warm humid weather too and I won't be wearing a layer over my chin for those days. I am returning it as it was too annoying and stiff for me. I am Petite at 5 ft and 105 lbs, but I think this issue would still hold true for people taller than me.

Just bought this jacket and used in on a hiking trip near jasper BC. It rained for 3 days straight and this jacket kept me fairly dry, which considering the conditions, is awesome. My only complaint was that the hood felt a bit uncomfortable, I just couldn't quite since the straps in a fashion that I was happy with
