I wanted these shoes to work. The style and color are versatile and could be worn with jeans or khakis. The problem is, they just do not measure up to the standards of New Balance. The foot pad is thin and shapeless, offering no arch support, and the inside of the shoe was not finished off the way I would expect a $99 pair of NB shoes to be. For an additional $23, I bought, and will keep, a very rugged but nice-looking NB turf style walking shoe that is water proof and has a much thicker and shaped foot pad.

The pluses: instep was high enough, easy to get on and tie for a snug fit on the heel. The minuses: didn't fit my broad toes - the shoe was too narrow and the toe too pointed, it pinched my toes together painfully.

These NB shoes were not rounded in the toe box as some of their other shoes and therefore the length was too short. They also felt a bit narrow and I ordered an EE width. I will have to try again.

The wide size 9 women's shoe looks and fits so much better than the men's shoes I've had to buy in the past because I couldn't find women's shoes that were wide enough and roomy enough. I like that the treads add a little more grip than some of the other walking shoes that have a smoother sole, so I can wear these on the trails too. I use orthotics so it works well for me that the insole is somewhat thin. I don't need the shoe to provide arch support or a thick insole.

Years ago, New Balance was my brand of choice for sneakers. There was always some inconsistency in sizing between styles and I had to be patient and try on many, many shoes before finding one that worked for me, but eventually, I'd find it. No more. I don't know what has happened to this brand that used to be the 'go-to' and represent quality for people with feet of all shapes and sizes, but I haven't been able to find a New Balance shoe that fit me since the pair I purchased in 2013. This shoe is not wide. Not at all. If you need any extra width in your shoes, move along. This is not the shoe you're looking for. They are long, narrow and stiff. Not too bad to look at, but that hardly matters if they feel awful on your feet. They do have moderate arch support.

I bought size 11, E width for my bunions and narrow high arch. These fit well right out of the box. Plenty of room in the front, plus deep enough for my orthodics. Firm sole with ridges will do well on pavement and trails alike. I will be using then in Europe so style and versility for different outfits is important. Shoe has a more elegant city look then other athletic hiking shoes. I tried on Salomon shoes but these New Balance shoes fit best. Glad I got them.

I wanted to like these so much, because I need a pair of black shoes for a trip where I'll be doing a lot of walking, and I wanted them to be attractive enough for a sophisticated city. First I tried 9 Wide, but it felt like my toes were hitting the end of the shoe. The New Balance WW577 shoe in size 9D felt good, strangely enough. My biggest shoe-fit problem is finding something with a wide enough toe box to accommodate bunions, so I ordered the 9.5 Wide, thinking surely they would fit the bill! Alas, after wearing them around the house for an hour, my feet began to hurt. These are quite attractive shoes and had good padding. I almost kept them, but ultimately I went with the granny look, a more clunky New Balance WW577, in which I could walk for an hour with no pain.

I usually wear a 9XW, but always need to go up to 9.5XW in New Balance shoes. I appreciate that they fit my wide feet and high instep, but it would be nice if they had a better insole with more arch support. I didn’t pay attention to the fact that these are waterproof, so they will be going back as I need something with more ventilation for a trip to a warm climate.

I loved the way these shoes looked on my feet (stylish, not clunky) and they felt wonderful too, until I'd had them on for about an hour. Then my bunions began to send shooting pains, which I always know means the shoe is a bit too tight across the joint at the base of my toes. If you don't have bunions, I'd highly recommend these.

Material was good, just the width was narrow than expected for a 2E fit.

Seems like a good shoe, but I usually wear an 8 1/2 or 9 and the 9 was definitely too small. I suggest ordering up a half size. I'm going to try the 9 1/2 to see if they work!

Thank you Zappos and New Balance for providing those of us with wide feet an online option for footwear. I just ordered a second pair, knowing from experience how difficult it is to find just the right fit.

These shoes feel great on! they are supportive and truely comfy! i usually order a wide shoe to accomodate toe box but these work well with any sock. they are dark color and not flashy which i wanted. i am very happy with them. i walk on dirt roads and they work wonderful.

I already had a pair in dark blue. Sometimes companies stop making your favorites so thought I'd get one in a lighter color.

I really like this walking shoe. I ordered it in my usual size, 5.5, but my toes were touching the end! I have reordered in a size 6 which I have never had to do before...hope it works.

I bought a 10B, which would be my regular size shoe. I haven't walked a distance in them yet, but they feel comfy around the house. Certainly better than the very old NB walking shoe I've been wearing for too many years. I have always worn New Balance because I have a narrower foot and they fit me best. This is a nice looking shoe (if you like black or dark charcoal) and I'm satisfied with my purchase.

I have returned this item. It looked fine and I had hoped for even moderate arch support but it wasn't there. Just slipping my foot in and my foot was rolling inward. I put my ortho. insert in but without some substance to the shoe it didn't help. In addition, one of the grommets for the laces had already come apart.

This shoe is miss marked. The size and width are not what it is marked.

Perfect fit and comfortable right out of the box.
