The mesh you see in the construction of these shoes is misleading. They are NOT breathable. It's a shame because I was hoping these would be comfortable shoes for work. Aside from sweating feet, they are fairly comfortable. But, the sweating is pretty terrible. I would only recommend for winter-wear. And, at that point, I'd rather wear a boot. Style-wise, they looked much better online. They aren't the worst, but they certainly couldn't be called stylish. I asked my girlfriend how they looked when they came in and I tried them on, and she said "they don't provoke a response."

I really wanted to like these - a lot, but they just didn't make the grade. Every other New Balance shoe I have owned and tried fit perfectly in an 8 EE Wide (anything else I take a 7.5 Wide or 8 D Medium), so that is what I ordered. Believe the other reviewers who say they are too narrow! Way too narrow, especially in the toe box. I held up the insole against several other New Balance insoles of the same size and they are much narrower all the way around. I'd order the next width up, but the sole is stiff enough that my heel slides up as I walk and a wider shoe would be even worse. I also don't like the gray sole edge, I'd much prefer brown to match the rest of the shoe, but that's just my personal taste. Unfortunately I'll be returning them.

Not sure what's happened here, but I ordered 4E shoes. These were either put in the wrong box, or New Balance has a very different definition of 4E. They were considerably too narrow. Had to send them back.

I normally wear shoes that are EE width and that's what I ordered with these shoes. When I tried these on it was immediately apparant they were too narrow even though the size on the shoe indicated EE wide. I sent them back for a return...Zappos return policy is awesome! The 4E may be what I need in this brand...

This was a very nice shoe I wish I could of keep. However, the 4E width was not wide enough for my wide feet. I had to order a different shoe in the 6E width that meet my comfort level. I just can not order shoes any more that has a pressure point on my feet. I like a comfortable shoe that doesn't hurt anywhere and does not restrict the sides of my feet. Zappos return policy let me finds shoes that meet my requirements.

Great looking walking shoe but, I am having to allow a break-in period to avoid blisters. For those of you who need an "out of the box and go" shoe this isn't it.

Thanks Zappo for great service but am giving up on finding a New Balance replacement for my old MW799 EEs. Tried the MW1350W1. Tried the M990v4 and the MW1201v1 (recommended by NB). Had to try multiple sizes, of course, since a 10 in one was a 10.5 in another was an 11 in the third. Tried EE and D widths. Tried one insert after another. None hit the mark for the fit and comfort I want.

Loved the look of the shoe, but unfortunately I returned the shoe for an exchange. I wear a wide shoe and even the 4E seemed tight on me. I also did not like the Fresh Foam midsole. I need a more stable midsole. It might be the right shoe for someone else, but it didn't work for me.

Not really waterproof in a real rain storm. Had to use some waterproofing spray , after drying them out . Wore them a second time today, in the rain. Still little a damp inside, although my socks were drier this time. New Balance needs to get their Chinese partners to use better "waterproof booties " inside.

nice looking shoe, but not a good fit for my feet

This shoe feels fairly comfortable so far. However, it is advertised to be waterproof. I wore it out in the rain today, and I can say it is not waterproof. New Balance had better tell their Chinese friends to learn how to make a "waterproof bootie" that really works. Or perhaps New Balance is being cheated, which wouldn't surprise me. I have decided to give them a good spray of waterproofing spray to see how it goes. I bought it to wear in rainy conditions, not hurricane, but a regular rainy day. So far not meeting expectations.

The fit is not good. The toe boxes press on my big toes. This seems to be a general problem with New Balance. I have another pair of New Balance shoes with the same problem.

I ordered 4E shoes. The shoes I got in the mail are not any wider than normal shoes. If New Balance says they are 4E, they are straight up lying. This was a complete waste of time and money.

15 4E and unable to wear because a VERY narrow toe box. The shoes bloated out over the inside midsoles leaving me to believe this shoe was designed for some kind of mutant. Go with the 510V4. Wide toe box and proper shoe shape.

I wanted to like these shoes however they are too narrow and not comfortable in the ball of the foot. I wear orthotics and my orthotics fit the shoe but the shoe is really not comfortable. I wouldn't recommend them. I think New Balance has slipped a lot in the quality of their shoes. The fit is just not there and I am finding this with all New Balance shoes now a days. Too bad, they were a great company! Zappos is the best.
