The sherpa lining is super warm. I love the vintage design, and the overall features. I wore it when it was super windy and frigid and it keep the chill of the wind out. Excellent price, excellent coat. Get one. Fits a little big, so it is great to layer with.

I bought my son this jacket as a gift. He lives at 4400 ft elevation, and he enjoys the warmth and comfort that this jacket offers, without being bulky or heavy.

I've had 10 or 12 Columbia Jackets over my life and I can say this one has been my favorite. It's so warm. People complain about the fur not going all the way down the arms but personally I love the smooth lining down the sleeves. It heats up quick with your skin. The look is sleek and keeps me dry from snow and rain. Columbia is the best and this jacket is a great example of their premium craftsmanship.

I got this jacket, as I needed a new "everyday" winter coat. I already have a heavy winter coat for the coldest of days but wanted something for the rest of winter. I knew from the pics and previous reviews that the fleece lining does not go to the bottom of the jacket but stops about 2/3 of the way down. There is no fleece in the sleeves/arms either. The hood is fleece lined and warm. The wife says she likes how the coat looks. The fit of the coat is spot on, 5'8 170lbs athletic build male who wears a medium shirt, pants and jackets. Ordered the medium and it fits well. Plenty of room to move around and will allow for a mid weight layer to be worn under the coat. Warm air leaks out of the bottom of the jacket but the drawstring at the bottom of the coat can be sinched and fixes that problem. As for warmth, it's a warm coat. Today is Sunday, I got the coat on Friday. Friday evening we drove to white mountains of New Hampshire for a long 3 day weekend. Friday night, when we arrive at our cottage, it was 9:30pm and negative 11 degrees Fahrenheit outside. I had on a light weight long sleeves shirt and this jacket (hat and gloves too of course) while I unloaded our car. The jacket kept me warm for what I was doing. I could feel the coldness creeping in thru the jacket. I wasnt cold per say but I was lifting heavy suitcases and going in & out of the cottage, back and forth. If it was negative 11 farenheit and I was going for a 30 min walk outside or standing at a soccer game for 2 hrs, I would be cold with this jacket on. However it did keep me warm enough while I unpacked the car. The following day, on Saturday, it reached in the 20's. My wife and I went walking with the dogs on some flat trails. I wore a similar lightweight long sleeved short and was plenty warm. TL:DR -- this jacket is perfect for what I was looking for. It will keep you warm on the typical new England winter days where it is 10-30 degrees. For subzero temps, you will need layers to stay warm with this jacket or simply, a different jacket.

Great jacket. Warm, cozy, plenty of pockets, and most importantly, a spacious warm hood. Water-repellent, too.

I have not had much of a chance to wear it in really cold weather yet but I was surprised at how insulated it felt. The liner is really nice and although not extremely soft ( not the most comfortable to rub directly on your face) the texture is great on my neck and ears and it is very warm while seeming good for moisture wicking. I did wear it in 30 deg with significant wind and was not cold at all. It blocks the wind well. I do agree with other reviewers that it would be nice to have the "fur" lining all the way down the jacket, but overall I think it is a somewhat unique coat that is warm, functional, and good looking.

The jacket is a little big in the chest and mid section but that's good for layering up. The length of the arms is perfect for me 6'0 athletic build 190lbs. Jacket is very warm and waterproof, more than enough for Texas winters but when we get down to the teens its perfect.

I bought this coat for my brother who works at night. He needed a warm, durable coat to help him make it through the Polar Votrex we're experiencing in Michigan. He loves it. The fit is good and he expects it to be durable enough to last a while. Thanks Columbia for making quality products to keep us warm!

I wore this jacket in 20-25 degree weather in windy, snowy conditions, and it generally kept me warm and dry. I especially appreciated the lined, adjustable hood that kept my neck protected from the wind and my head toasty. The jacket has a nice, modern look, roomy hand warmer pockets, and storage for devices. It also allows you to cinch the bottom to prevent the cold from coming in from below. The fleece-like lining on the top half of the jacket was great. My only quibble: there is no fleece-like lining in the bottom part of the jacket, so I had a bit of a cool spot at the base of my spine. I hope that the next generation of the jacket takes the lining down closer toward the bottom, which would make it more evenly warm. I bought the shark color, which is a nice shade of grey that can be worn with dress clothes for work and looks good with jeans. I'm about 6'2" and 185 pounds, and the Large fits well, with room for a mid-weight sweater.

Bought this jacket for my husband as a gift and he loves it great for chilly weather, it was just a bit to big but worked out fine since he likes to wear thin sweaters underneath. I got him an XL he weighs about 215 and is 5'11.

We live in the upper Midwest, South Dakota to be exact. Our temps are bitterly cold, windy and sometimes downright fridged! This Jacket was for my son and he's never been more pleased with a coat! He explained that it's extremely warm, not bulky, very comfortable, while still having great style! A++ from us up in the bitter North!

I've been searching for a new winter jacket for 2 years. I've bought a few North Face jackets and that just won't feel right. Either too snug under my armpits or just not comfortable to more around in. One was $350 and I wouldn't have kept it if they gave it to me. Finally after about 3 hours of looking online I found this jacket. Ordered it the next day and when it arrived it was perfect. The Shark color was great, not black but not gray. It has plenty of room in the arms, enough to wear a few extra layers if needed. It's long enough to cover your belt line so wind doesn't creep up your back. Sleeves cuffs are adjustable and the collar comes up nice and high to protect your neck from the wind. I'm 5'10", 185lbs with broad shoulders and the larger was perfect for me.
