I loved the idea of this jacket, being thin and able to keep you warm from the "thermoball technology". It looks great on and it is nice and thin. However, it is not what I would consider a winter coat. The wind goes right through it, and it just does not keep you warm. I have to wear many layers under it. Still a great jacket for Fall and chilly nights, so I decided to keep it. But I am still in search for a winter coat, this one just did not fit the bill.

For an extra large the upper arm and shoulder opening felt like a medium. I am disappointed in the sizing range offered by North Face for women. I hate buying Mens sizes because arm length is an issue, but I have shoulders that match my body size. Very discouraged. I want a feminine looking parka made for a woman who has some upper body strength.

This runs SO SMALL. I don't have particularly wide hips and it didn't come close to closing over them. If you aren't built like a stick figure, I'd order at least a size up, if not two. Insane sizing.

The color did not look like the beautiful gray pictured on line so I returned this jacket. It is greenish gray and looks kind of dirty. The lining was a better color than the outside of the coat.

I've tried on a number of synthetic down jackets, an item I've wanted for a few years. I keep coming back to the Thermoball. Excuse everyone I know that has one likes it but it's too long! I'm 5'1" and want to use it both for backcountry hiking and camping as well as in town in cool weather however it's too sloppy at its current length. Please make a petite version!

The jacket was not what expected. I order it online in black, which in person looked like a hefty bag. And for the price, definitely was not expecting super lightweight.
However the Crescent fit my needs way better.

It's so thin that when you hold it up to the light you can see threw it.

The fit was bizarre: top was too big and loose and hips were too tight (I am a size 2, 113 lbs, and size
small fit did not fit). I tried virtually all versions of this - including the down jackets, with and without hoods,
and all of them had this odd fitting problem. I returned the jacket.

So the color (and image) say asphalt gray - which you expect to be a dark grey. This jacket is black. Perhaps closer to navy blue, but there is nothing about it that is grey. Even tried on with a pair of black pants and it all looked like one color. The zipper color is also actually more of a true bubble gum pink, but that isn't nearly as poorly misrepresented as the "gray". will be returning the jacket.

This jacket was way too small had to return it ...my friend has the same jacket XS size and I purchased S size was exactly the same measurements ....I went to the local store that has this kind of jacket and small size Was fine true to size in one color then I tried another color size S it was to big .... Very confusing what I discover that there is three different jackets that I tried on size small that actually are three different sizes in the real life ......

I felt like the Michelin tire guy in this jacket. North face site recommended size M, but the sleeves were puffy huge, and the jacket itself felt loose, not form fitting, sleek as pictured. I am 5'5", 128 lbs, slightly curvy, average figure. It was a lot more lightweight than I expected, but it did seem that it would be warm. Not for me .Returned.

I had been looking at this jacked for a while, contemplating buying it. I've been needing a simple, lightweight down jacket to have for all conditions - just something to throw on anytime that would keep me warm in winter, but also not get too warm when I wear it indoors or while being active. An outdoor store by me was having a sale, so I bought this jacket for a discounted price. However, when I wore it to dinner that night, I realized I still paid too much.... It was kind of windy out, but not snowy; maybe like 40 degreesF. I was freezing. It felt like I had no jacket on at all. I'm hoping that I was just cold that night, and this jacket doesn't actually suck as much as I think it does, because I can't return it.
Overall, I think this jacket was hyped up wayyyyy too much, considering that it didn't even keep me warm on a mild winter night.

I ordered a thermoball recently and was so excited. When I got it it was HUGE! I was so disappointed. I got a large because I am still growing and I have a large northface fleece and went by that. I got it and my dad could fit into it. I was so disappointed because this was a jacket i have always wanted.

This jacket was everything I hoped for...until I wore it. Lightweight, packable, warm, and it looks good both on the trail and on the street. Here's the problem: all of the baffling started coming unstitched the very first time I wore the jacket. All over the jacket --- shoulders, sleeves, front and back, threads are popping and unravelling. This is causing the stuffing to migrate and leave cold spots all over the jacket, significantly affecting the performance. I I should note I have not subjected the jacket to extreme wear...though I would have expected to be able to. Walking to work is all it took! The elastic-fabric on the cuffs is also getting pilled and destroyed...from just putting my hands in the zipped pockets! The finished, knotted thread ends where the cuffs were attached to the jacket are also dangling from each sleeve. This is not simply "normal wear and tear". This is clearly a quality issue. It really is a shame. This jacket had so much promise but sadly fails the quality test. Very, very disappointed. Considering the price point and the North Face's reputation for quality products, I expect better.

Though the style and warmth of this jacket were exceptional the overall color just wasn't as pictured on website. Unfortunately the jacket was returned. Was really excited to finally see a pure blue option for woman instead of the regulation light colors and pinks always offered. I just don't know why as a woman I cannot find earthy,or bright color varieties. Truly let down.

Had high hopes for this jacket. Have a loyal North Face customer for years. The proportions of this jacket are all wrong. Seems like a man's cut. Dies fit right. Can't stay warm because when I get a size that fits my hips and bust the arms are way too long and the body is way too loose. The size that fits my arms and legs is too tight on my hips and bust. I am in good shape but this jacket is just wrong. It was a wonderful Christmas gift from my husband but I am going to have to return it.

This coat is very cold. A draft blows down the neck and is very chilly. I would not recommend it for any thing cooler than 0 degrees celcius. Am very dissapointed in this coat. Ther is no way that is as warm as my 600 fill down coat.

The fit is more like a men's cut - wide in the shoulders, narrow in the hips. Their XXL sizes of everything else fits me great, but I could not zip this jacket (nor the hoodie version of thermoball) over my hips. So disappointing, it would have been perfect for my needs. I'm sending both slim fit thermoballs back :(

I own several Thermoball jackets in different colors. I was wanting a soft pale pink color. I was so excited when I saw the Pink Salt color. It looked like the pale pink color hat I was hoping for. I ordered it right away. When it was delivered I couldn't wait to open the package, but was so disappointed when I saw the color.
It did not look like the soft pale pink on the website. How could this be. I was so much looking forward to this being the perfect pink color. How could they get this so wrong. It is not pale pink but a light peachy color, but not a pretty color. It is to fluorescent. A shrimp color or the the coral color in my Himalayan pink salt shaker. The jacket was returned that day.

I had worn the jacket just a couple times just out to the grocery store etc. I then noticed holes on the sleeves.
Nothing had happened and the jacket had not even been worn but a few hours. Very thin material. Not durable at all. Very disappointed!

North Face used to have a tremendous reputation which is why when My son and I both needed winter coats for an upcoming trip, I immediately went to their store. My son's coat zipper puckered within the first few wears. My thermo ball is starting to have white pilling or fuzz coming out of the seams on the grey coat and it looks cheap. For the price and the infrequency of wear, I should not have issues with them within two months of purchase. North Face quality has gone downhill and I won't be wasting my time and money with them anymore. You're better off going somewhere else.
