Overall, In my opinion its a very nice jacket. However, it is not as warm as a down, but warmer than a leather, wool, poly-filled jacket. I get a lot of compliments on the jacket too! I think if you wanted it for skiing or working outdoors in the snow you would need to wear layers for it to be extra warm. It runs smaller than the regular 3/4 coats, especially around the hip and waist. I purchased in a size large but it was too big so I returned it for a medium. I believe its design to react to body heat because when I am in the car it can be too warm.
Nevertheless, I brought it, and I am keeping it.

The ThermoBall zip up jacket is a great idea to use for a shell or just an all-purpose jacket. Very versatile and compacts incredibly for storage.
Be careful with sizing, the wrists and waist fit snug because of the elastic.
A great product, but I wish there were less vibrant colors in the women's version. I appreciated the colors of the men's Thermoball jackets a lot more. Earth tones!

I bought the women's thermoball jacket in two colors - coastline blue and dandelion yellow. Both colors looked lovely online, and as a Steelers fan, I was particularly happy to find the yellow one.
When I pulled them out of the box, I noticed that you could see the color of the lining from the outside around the stitching, where there was no insulation to block the inside color. This wasn't very noticeable with the blue jacket - its acid green lining appears as a very faint luminescence around the stitching. But the grey lining of the yellow jacket made it look filthy at the seams. It was not something I could overlook in a $200 jacket.
I went to a nearby TNF store, and was able to look at a few other colors in person. The silver-colored jacket (I think it's called High Rise Grey) has a white lining, and the light mint-colored jacket had a color-matched lining. I don't know why TNF didn't take one or the other of these approaches with the yellow jacket. If they had, I would have kept it.
But the blue one is lovely and super-stylish, and I love it! :)

Such a warm jacket but it's not too heavy. Perfect for school on cold fall days. I love it

My wife loved the look of this jacket and ordered the pink w/ grey lining. Jacket came and fits great, and seems to be very warm, but the pink shell material is so thin that the grey lining shows through on every "puffball" cross-hatch stitching--ie; the entire jacket looks pink with 'dirty' pink crosshatching, not good.

I really love this jacket. It is as warm as they say. I bought the borealis blue and the color is as shown. I get a lot of complements. I bought mine with the hood. The hood and sleeves are fitted and keep the wind out. It washes up really nice. Doesn't take up a lot of room in my luggage while traveling.
The only reason I didn't give it 5 stars is the material. With in a month of buying it, the sleeve cuffs pilled up and I have several snags on the sleeves. It really looked worn. I hadn't worn it for any outdoor activities, just running around, shopping, traveling. I almost returned it because of this, but decided I loved everything else about it. I hope next year the material will be a bit better.

Love it! Super packable. Nicely, gently fitted. I can layer it under my ski jacket if necessary. I haven't washed it yet, but I presume it will be much easier to wash/dry than my down filled NF. One thing that I'm not happy about- I'm getting 'pilling' of the fill material on the surface of the coat from seatbelt wear and from using a backpack for travel. I hope this doesn't affect the lifespan of the product. Love this product so far and bought 4 for family members at Chrismas. The pilling of fill material is the only drawback-never had this with my down filled NF.

I like my coat but it is more blue and less green as pictured. On the website and even your email that you sent to me the jacket truly is green. My jacket is more blue. Could they have made a mistake?

Very lightweight and warm at the same time. The best thing I like, being tall is the sleeves are nice and long and the fit is great!

This jacket is very light and compressible. I usually purchase Down insulation pieces, and although this is not as warm it is almost as light, and packs really small too! I did a water test and compared it to untreated down and it worked very well, keeping most of its loft and still keeping me warm after being dunked in a bucket of water.

I really like the color! I think it could be a little wider around the stomach. I am not a large person, but I had to get a large! What would big women get. I lam also not sure that it is as warm as they said.

Very lightweight, can fit a fleece or hoodie sweatshirt under it for colder temps. Was looking for something lighter than my down TNF 500 jacket and this is a good fit. Ordered the XL for arm length and it's plenty long, as I like it (I'm 6'1"). The high rise grey looks a little "space-agey" metallic, but I can live with it.

Just like any north face product this jacket was great . Even though it's light it is very insulated and warm . Living in the Windy City this jacket comes in handy.

The jacket looks great, fits me (6 feet tall, 160 lbs.) perfectly with sleeves just the right length. Features like zipper pull and pockets are fine, keeps the wind out too. It's the expected warmth that's not there.
I first wore the jacket outside, 43F, no wind, light base layer and my arms were Cold. Once I started hiking it held in my warmth just fine, but standing or sitting in a cold place it does not retain my body heat.
That said, I've increased the thickness of the underlayers and the jacket is fine.
I haven't hiked with it and a backpack yet, nor taken a bike ride. Will I wear it skiing? Can I get enough layers on under it? I'll know in another month.

This is a nice jacket it's warm and extremely lightweight. The only downside is the price. I think it is very overpriced. Also, there were a lot of loose threads not cut on my jacket when I got it.

Got this jacket today. Wore it during the day and it kept me warm, but tonight at 42 degrees (feels like 37 degrees according to the weather site) with a brisk wind, I felt the cold come through. I was wearing a thin sweater underneath so maybe with a sturdy fleece it would fare better. Nice jacket and I'll enjoy it through Fall, but not sure how well it will work through winter unless I make sure to have thick layers.

This jacket was a little more fitted than expected, especially since it comes down lower than your hips so I would recommend sizing up. The tin grey does not look like the white in the picture. It is actually grey and shiny which I did not like so I returned this jacket.

I bought this jacket, as well as a ThermoBall "Eco" that has a much more shiny look, because I wasn't sure which my daughter would prefer. Having tried other styles of NorthFace in local stores, I was confident that she was an Adult XS. The Eco fit as expected - snug but not too tight when worn over her t-shirt and fleece (just what she happened to be wearing when the package was delivered). But this jacket she couldn't even get zipped, it was so tight! Even without the fleece under it, it was uncomfortably small. I personally much prefer this more matte black over the shininess of the Eco I ordered, but daughter liked the shine, so I didn't bother exchanging this one, I just returned it.

Jacket was nice, high quality as expected from North Face, but the body was longer than expected and didn't match what I was looking for.

I tried this on, really wanting to like it. I LOVE the bright white. But the shape was funny and flared out at the hip, which is not flattering. Returned.

True to size and fit well. I really did love the style, but it wasn't warm enough for me. I live in NC, so temps aren't super low here, but a 20 minute walk with the dog in roughly 40 degree weather and I was a popsicle. I returned it and will be purchasing the real down stretch jacket.
