I ordered these from Amazon but should have checked here first as the description is a bit better. I was expecting this boot to be leather and what looked like suede on the back of the boot shaft. It's not. It's synthetic material and thin. Amazon did not have that in their description so I was shocked when I took it out of the box. At $200, I wasn't expecting a good part of the boot being synthetic. Otherwise, it's a nice looking boot. I ordered 37 (6.5-7) because I have a couple of other pairs of Dansko shoes and that is the size I have. I normally wear 7.5 in other brands but have found Dansko runs a little big. However, I should have ordered the 38 (7.5-8) because the 37 just fit and would be too snug with a sock. The feel light and pretty comfortable, but I just am not going to pay that kind of money for a half synthetic boot. Maybe one day they'll be on sale and I'll grab a pair then. But for now, I'm going to return them.

I got these because I love Dansko and they have a removable footbed which I need for my orthotics. The back half of the shaft is sort of an elastic fabric and the front half is leather. That stretch would be great if the shaft portion was slim, but it's absolutely huge. The foot of the boot is comfortable and typical Dansko quality. I have fairly slim calves and the shaft portion is much too big for my legs and gapped out at least a couple of inches around the top, even over jeans. If you have quite large calves these would be terrific. Otherwise they're too wide up top to be attractive..I really want a tall Dansko boot but I had to return these, unfortunately.

I tried these on at a department store. At this price I needed to be sure of fit and style. Fit and comfort are perfect. The style and look are disappointing! The "stretch fabric back" looks cheap and feels really flimsy. I would have purchased on the spot had the back panel of the boot looked and felt more high quality. It's like Dansko spared no expense on every other element- leather is buttery soft, foot bed exquisitly comfortable, easy to walk in and would be excellent in climate with snow & ice. The back looks like a dollar store micro fiber towel. And, if your calves don't fill the boot that fabric back sags. I also envisioned what these boots would look, and feel, like after a week in the salon cutting hair. Cactus came to mind! So sad.

Not a good design The side zipper is closer to the front and you can totally see from the front And there is a very heavy, awkward wrinkle in the leather on top of the foot, causing even more of a clunky front. The back microfabric is like a fake suede, and I really doubt how waterproof it is. It feels like it would be cold too. I was really excited about these boots, but I was appalled at how cheap these boots looked and felt Thanks to Zappos for their return policy for letting me try them

LOVE Dansko. Sizing is consistent. The 40 fit was spot on even with the left toes a bit longer. This is always nice when you have to try 2-3 sizes in others shoe brands ( Tried sizes 9.5, 10 & 9.5 W). Which I did! I had to try on about 12 pairs. Only to come back to these. They were the most comfortable. The VERY most comfortable. And I'm kinda mad about it because WTF! Where's the leather on the back of the boot? It's some fake stretchy super thin microfiber ish. These boots are for very mild winter weather at best. I feel a bit cheated for the price, honestly. The boots don't even have a warm lining. So with some new warm socks, I'll rock these new boots because the comfort, man, the comfort is undeniable. Let's see how long they last. My last pair of black boots (Merrell) lasted about 14-15 years before they gave up the ghost. AND I could wear them through all kinds of snow in KY, WY and still be cute in the office. I don't think I'll get my money's worth with this pair of winter boots. No kicking around in the snow.

These are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn!! Right out of the box, even! Some people complained about the synthetic back on the calves, but it makes the boots nice and light. Some boots feel heavy and clunky, but in these I forget that I am wearing boots, even with legs crossed. No clomping around! Also this footbed is the most perfect and comfortable thing I have ever put on my feet—seriously, I have since bought a pair of the ankle boots, the loafers, and today I bought a second pair of the mary janes (and I am not an Imelda Marcos type). I am stocking up in case they discontinue the line!

HIGHLY recommend these boots - stylish and comfortable straight out of the box. I disagree with reviewers who complain about how thin the fabric panel is; while lightweight, it is strong and windproof. This weekend I wore these boots for two days straight in 20-degree weather in Maine; was warm and comfortable the whole time. Boot is wide enough to accommodate my slightly wide calves and skinny jeans but narrow enough to look great with tights, skirts and dresses. Have been looking a long time for this solution and Dansko delivered!

The fit was perfect- my foot is slightly wide and slightly bigger than a 7.5 and these fit wonderfully. They are the most comfortable boots I’ve ever had. I am just finishing a 30 day trip to Europe that including lots and lots of walking on old stone streets, lots of stairs. My feet were never sore or tired!! I also have thinn calves and it was a very simple fix down the stretchy center back seam at the shoe cobbler too make them fit:)

I have been searching for a perfect pair of tall black boots I can wear with leggings, jeans, and skirts for the dark and rainy Fall and Winters in Seattle. I have been struggling with plantar fasciitis recently, and wanted a boot with a removable footbed so I could put an insole in. I have loved Danskos in the past and have had many of their shoes, but since the PF I have not been wearing them at all. I was so amazed when I tried on these boots. They feel just heavenly on my feet, and the insole is so supportive and comfortable that I don't think I even have to trade them for mine. They don't feel like the typical Dansko clog footbed at all. I am a true size 6.5, and the 37 size was definitely the best size. They are a tiny bit loose with my socks on, but I don't feel like I'm slipping in them and the calf fits perfectly (I don't have huge calves but I sometimes have a problem with the calf being too tight). I just discovered an adjustable strap on the ankle so I'll try that one notch tighter. For all of the reviews regarding the back part being a thin, synthetic material that will probably not be very warm - I totally agree. But for me it is perfect - in the rainy Seattle weather we don't often have snow or below freezing temps so I wasn't concerned about warmth, and I think it will be easy to wipe clean. I was expecting a heavier suede or synthetic for the two-tone part and it was a surprise - but I must admit I love the feel and look and I'm so happy to have found boots that I hope will carry me through the next few winters.

These boots appealed to me because of the removable foot bed so that I could add my orthotic. They're absolutely gorgeous in person and I loved everything about this boot-except that even with my orthotic inserted the support just wasn't there. I have badly pronated feet so arch support has to be number one. Sadly, back to zappos they go.

I ordered a 39 bc all my danskos are 39. They seemed a bit small. I can only use a thin sock. And with a thin sock I love them. The upper part is leather in the front and a synthetic somewhat stretchy material at the calf. Works great for me, but if you have slim calves, perhaps not.

Fit is perfect! Super comfortable footbed for my wider feet. Extendable calf so fits snug but comfortably. Best fit ever in a pair of boots!

LOVE LOVE LOVE THESE BOOTS! Have had them over 2 years and wear them regularly in the fall and winter. They feel like you are wearing running shoes - that comfortable. But they still look good enough to wear out and about. The only boots I've ever had that I will wear walking for a full day in a city like NYC. The mix of leather and fabric means they are stretchy around the calf, so they fit well. I have "athletic" calves and these fit great - if you have super-slim calves, they might be saggy. I'd buy another pair if they came in different colors. I went through about 20 pairs of black boots and returns to find these - try them!

These are the most comfortable boots I have ever worn! I am not sure why some said the stretchy fabric on the back was cheap and that they were disappointed with Dansko for this reason -- it is super nice in my opinion -- almost like velvet. I love everything about these boots! They are, as always with Dansko, top-notch and super well made!

These are THE most COMOFORTABLE boots I’ve ever owned, and I always go for comfort! I have a slender calf (difficult to find boots for) so I knew I’d probably have them altered. I did, and it was and easy fix because of the fabric in the back. Hesitated to spend this much on boots, but am happy I did. I tried on abou 10 different pair. These won, hands down! Yeah Dansko!

These don’t fit like the dansko clog, the clogs have great support and you could wear all day, these are just like any other boot. The style is good, but the toe box is too small, not enough room, no arch or other support and it is a narrower fit as well. I was disappointed. I guess I assumed that the boot would be like the clogs and it is not!

These are Danskos?? What? These are more like super-flimsy boots I'd buy at Payless. Where is the supportive, firm/rigid sole that classic Danskos have? The bottoms of these are akin to ballet flats in quality and flexibility. If that's what you're looking for, you've found your boot. Me: nope. nope.

These feel like cheap boots. No arch support. My foot was rolling inward due to lack of arch support. The only reason I buy Danskos is for the arch support. Very disappointed. Another pair of Danskos I bought with these also have little arch support. What is happening to the quality of these shoes?!

My foot is a size 11.5 narrow, so finding a comfortable, well-fitting shoe is close to impossible. These are perfect!

I absolutely love these boots. I’ve been a dansko girl for 20 years. I’m very happy with the support and style. Well worth the money. I don’t mind the thin material on the back, it’s very comfortable. Very true to size. I’m a 37. I like that the heel is not too high.

Some reviewers don't care for the lighter weight fabric panel in the back but I am happy with it. While lightweight, it is still strong and high-quality and I'm looking forward to many years of wear with these boots - which are incredibly comfortable and look great with both jeans and dresses.

I ordered the boots in size 37 Medium. The length, width, and heel height are perfect. I wore the boots all day without any discomfort. Will continue to purchase Dansko shoes and boots.

This is my first pair of Danskos. I’ve always shied away from them for fear of twisting an ankle with the slight heel and platform. But I needed some tall boots for travel that would be super comfortable for walking. I think these will be perfect after a little breaking in (ankle area is a bit stiff right out of the box). I really like that the back panel is light and stretchy because I have wide calves and am often tucking in leggings or jeans and this leaves plenty of room. They are also lighter weight this way. True to size 7(37).

Whew!! After an exhausting search for Black boots to wear with dresses or jeans, I finally found a pair that fit, look cute and are comfortable. I have wide toes and need that scooch more room but, my calves are not wide. They do have a fabric back so I was hesitant but then, I read the review about packing was easier so I tried them. They are the perfect weight for mid Florida. They have a rubber sole which would handle some rain. they are very comfy with this socks, good arch support and are not too hot for our limited fall days. I also go to Washington state... I have heavier boots for winter there that are too warm for Florida. I go compliments the first day out and they look cute with leggings and skirt.
