I wanted to love these boots, but it was a miss for me. I will say that they are very comfortable, which is why I was so drawn to them as I have the ankle version of this boot and it is the most comfortable boot I own. These provides adequate arch support and are perfect for walking around town or city for extended periods of time, but the styling is terrible. The shaft length is very short (not knee length, not ankle length, but an awkward length that falls in-between). It actually looks very unflattering and cuts off the leg, making it look shorter. I don't know why they cut the shaft so short on these. The boots also slouched and bunched up on me around the ankles. I had to really pull and tighten to get them to stand straight, but I imagine they would stretch over time and not hold their shape. I wish they had kept the shaft height at a true knee length (at least 15" instead of the 13"). I'm sad to send these back, but for $300 I wanted BOTH style and comfort, and these just did not cut it :(

I have been waiting a couple years for this particular style and color (all black, Cate wedge tall). I will be replacing the laces with all black round for a more formal look. My calves are also larger, so the existing lace I was too short to accommodate my calf and reach the top laces. The extra laces will fix that issue and the side zip is great. The adjustability is great. Expensive but worth it!

I love the Joan of Arctic tall wedge boots! I have a pair from 2 years ago and wore them constantly until the corded eyelet loops frayed. :( Last year SOREL offered a similar boot but with no tongue! What's that about?! Finally, this year SOREL is back with a beautiful version (with a tongue) and with eyelets that will not fray along with a side zipper!!! I jumped on the black version and I love them! I have small calves and I'm so happy that the laces allow me to cinch in the shaft so that it's fitted to my calf. Two years ago, I got constant compliments on these boots and I can't wait for cold weather to wear these with confidence again. Yay!

These are amazingly comfortable and cute! I walk an average of 5 miles a day to get back and forth to work. They are warm and perfect for the winter, even in deep snow. Despite the heel height, the wedge keeps them stable. I have very large calves so initially I did have some gapping between the tongue and the sides, but after a wear or 2 I was able to tighten the laces to close it. I am 6 feet tall so they hit me mid calf. I wear them with everything.

I have the ankle height slip on version and love them so when I needed new y’all boots these were the easy choice. I’m an 11 or 12 and have skinny calves so the laces were perfect and I’m totally a 12 in these. So if you are on the upper end of the size scale maybe lean into larger sized. Quality seems excellent just like my other sorels. Shockingly comfy for a wedge. And the style has just enough edge to look interesting without being over the top. A strong recommendation from this girl

These boots are awesome - I am so happy with them. They are surprisingly comfortable -i can where them anywhere. They are a stylish alternative to welly's when the weather's not great. True to size.

I have what you would call ‘large’ calves, at least 15 1/2 inches. I bought these boots assuming I would be retuning them because they would look stupid. I was WRONG! I love these boots. I do have skinny ankles so I synched them in at the bottom and let the laces out at the top and didn’t use the top holes. But they look great. They are just as comfortable as the ankle version, which I have and love. Some people are commenting on the shaft height as a negative. But I think they look great.

I read the reviews so purchased a half size up. I love them!

Crazy to see that the comments show that these fit girls with wider calfs. I have skinny legs, and they're nicely fitted. They don't come up fully to the knee per someone else's comments but they're darn close and I really like the look. Comfy but they're super snug. I'm going to try a half and a full size up. they're realtively warm but I might want the option of thicker socks in the northeastern cold. Heel doesn't feel as high as they say so I think I'll be really fine to walk the streets of NY with them. I hate the cold but these will lend a silver lining to this winter

I love these boots! Thank you Sorel for making this style again. I bought a pair 2 years ago and have been hoping to find another. The color is so rich and the leather is gorgeous. They are very comfortable to walk in, even in snow.
