I like the shoes the walk in them were great until the top side of shoe started to rub on my right foot. Can you do something about it, I think it is the stitching? I loosened the strings but it only caused shoe to be too loose which rubbed area even more. The left foot felt great. Please help!!!

I wanted to love this shoe, but found the leather to be very stiff to the point of uncomfortable. Sizing up would have been too big so had to return. They were extremely stabilizing to stand in which was awesome if I could stand the rigidity of the uppers. Didn't work for me but really wish it could have, will keep trying different pairs with Hoka as seem to be excellent shoes once you can find the right fit for your specific needs in a shoe.

It gives me some support around my ankles that I don't get from other shoes. I have arthritis so it would be great if these were just slide on shoes without ties for people with arthritis.

I have to be in sneakers day-to-day due to orthopedic problems, despite being on the younger side and having a general aversion to sneakers. The gaviotas are very supportive, yet feel nice and cushioned. I can walk longer distances pain-free in these, but really wish there was a wider selection of neutral designs. Like another reviewer, I opted for the leather version because the colors for the synthetic were not suitable for everyday wear. That said, the leather isn't breathable and is very stiff. I had issues with my heels sliding out the back (even in the smaller size), which I did not experience when I tried the more flexible mesh version on in the store (months ago, pre-COVID).

I bought 2 pairs of shoes, fabric shoes, and leather shoes, both the same size. But the pair of leather shoes are wider so they are a bit looser on me especially when I take walks. I have to wear them tighter. A bit disappointed since they were a lot more expensive but still extremely comfortable.

i needed a white sneaker to wear to go out. I had back surgery and i can only wear sneakers. I also overpronate and needed a lot of support. These had a wide base through out. I can not wear sneakers if the sole comes inward by, the arch feels though there is not enough support and these soles are wide. I returned them because these were not as cushiony at the heel.

I walk 2-3 miles each morning in this shoe, at a fast pace. These walkers are very comfortable and do not "pinch" my toes (wide toe box); plus, they have given relief to the pain in the ball of my foot. That being said, they seem to "magnify" my feet and make them look bigger than an already big (9.5) shoe size!

This was a different version from the Gaviota 2 that I also ordered but did not feel as comfortable. Like that it was leather but there was definitely a difference in the feel of this version.

I tried Hoka for the first time, I'm sure it's as good as everyone says, just weren't wide enough.

It wasn't a very attractive shoes. But for those that do not have trouble with feet, it should be okay. But for those with fussy feet, these shoes are too stiff and not flexible at the ball of the feet. I am assuming it will be okay with all those who like leather.

This is my 3rd pair of Gaviota shoes. I have wide feet and the Gaviota original and #2 were the perfect fit when I ordered them in wide. I ordered wide again on this order of Gaviota 3 and I wouldn't have know this was the same shoe. I am hoping they will stretch as this wide is not wide as before, I double checked the size because I thought I might have not ordered correctly, but I did. Won't purchase this style again.

I really wanted to love these, but they're a little heavy. I'm a nurse and am on my feet for long hours, but these feel very heavy and clunky.

Ever since my 1st pair, I thought changing the fabric was a bad decision. Now that the fabric has changed closer to what it originally was, so far so good. Will see how long they last before updating this rating.

This shoe ended up being too small, stiff and hard, and has been successfully returned. It's hard to always get the right shoe, sight unseen. But, seeing this shoe up close and personal helped me decide on my next shoe being a "wide" and a "half" size larger, and I'm going for a hiking boot instead.

They fit good and I like the cushion, but because they are all leather and not mesh on the top they are very stiff and hurt the top of my foot a bit if I walk in there more than just casual every day wear. If I get on the treadmill the top starts to hurt after a few minutes. I was hoping with some wear they'd soften up, but after a few weeks they still rub and hurt on the top (where the toe meets the rest of your foot. It's probably just me, I would recommend them assuming this doesn't happen to everyone.

Unfortunately, these shoes run very Narrow. I have Narrow feet, but think the wide would have been better. The shoe itself is very well constructed of top grain leather. With that being said, allow for a long break in period. I have another pair of Hoka OneOnes that I love. These shoes just didn't work for me.

The size and width on these shoes were true to fit. I currently have a pair of the same style Gaviota only the fabric/ mesh version. This leather version was not as comfortable, so I returned.

I like it because it is leather and I work in a hospital so I like the protection of my foot . The size 10 gives me the width but the step is off and my ankles are beginning to hurt again , and they are sliding in the back. I need a return label please .

They are dorky. I’m a 48 yo woman, and these look exactly like my dad’s shoes. You really notice in person, and you feel like they are very wide while wearing them. They’re also very hot, and they don’t breathe at all. I don’t care about being dorky, but the heat is killing me. The leather feels cheap and hard. If I spent less than $100, I might keep them given my knee and ankle problems- surgery on both in past 2 years. I had a fractured and dislocated ankle, then a meniscus tear on the other side. They are more cushy than my Brooks. But then again, they’re really hot and the tops are stiff. For $159, nope. My orthopedist told me to stick with Brooks anyway. I can imagine the cushion could irritate my ankle after a few hours as cushy shoes require more fine motor movement than my ankle can give, and these shoes have a deep heel. I have limited dorsiflexion.

The shoe is comfortable, but not comfortable for 12 hr shifts on my feet. The leather quality seemed to be lacking.

I have both the Clifton 4 and the Bondi Leather in 8.5W, so I expected the Gaviota to fit about the same and hoped it would have the same cushioning in the sole. It fell short in both areas. The shoe felt wider than either the Clifton or Bondi and lacked the support of those two models. My bad knee started hurting immediately after trying them on. That usually tells me the arch support is wrong for me. I thought perhaps they needed some breaking in, so I walked around the house in them all day. My knee didn't improve and I felt the shoes lacked the cushioning in the sole that the Clifton and Bondi have. I hated to return them as I liked the color, but I just didn't think they were as comfortable as the other two models.

I have very high arches and have developed foot issues recently (ligament pain on top of foot and ankle). I saw an orthopedist who recommended Hoka because of the stability and rocker function (she said I need deep a heel cup, rocker bottom and a firm sole so my big toe doesn't have to hyper-extend). This shoe feels like a dream on my feet but the design is super-dorky. Fine for running but if you're like me and want to find a shoe you can walk around a city in and not look like the "stupid American tourist" these won't work. It's too bad because sneakers are so "in" right now, it would be so nice to find something nice looking that also helped my feet. In addition to this leather version, I tried the non-leather gaviota in "blueprint" which looked slightly better but still not wearable. My fingers are crossed they'll come up with some better color designs with non-white soles. In the meantime, I'm on the hunt for a supportive yet chic shoe (ideas welcome!) Sizing: I'm usually a 8.5 or 39 in shoes and an 8 in running shoes (Saucony, New Balance, On Cloud). These run large and the 7.5 fit perfectly. *note: the Hoka "Hupana" slip-on style is cute but unfortunately they don't have any stability,,,

I wanted these to work out so much! I wear my mesh gaviota's every single day. They wear out too quickly, but are the perfect shoe for my needs (stability and cushion), so I keep buying them. I wanted a pair that I could wear in wet weather to avoid having wet socks and thought these would be the perfect solution. However, the leather is awful- it's hard and feels more like a plastic composite than actual leather. It chaffed the tops of my feet, so I returned them. Perhaps one day they will make a Gaviota-like shoe with Gor-tex.
