So this is another "What on earth has happened to my go-to shoe?!?" review...I am a faithful Gel Cumulus patron, one who year after year when the new ones come out, disregards the nay-sayers who complain about changes and go ahead and order another pair in my regular size: 8.5 Regular. HOWEVER...this time, I just have to write a review. The nay-sayers speak the truth: This shoe is shorter, narrower, and nowhere near as cushioning as any previous Gel Cumulus. This shoe is so narrow I could hardly get my foot in, and once I did, the shoe just feels sooo much narrower!! When I compared the treads on this forefoot to my old Gel Cumulus, this new shoe was about 1/4" more narrow on each side. So if you are going to order the shoe, DEFINITELY go up at LEAST a half size. Once my foot was in, my toes did not have any of the "wiggle room" they typically have, the arch felt like it was in the wrong place, and the cushioning felt nowhere near the usual exciting, springy feel that I used to get when I ordered a new pair of Asics. I am beyond disappointed with this shoe...except for one thing. I LOVED that there was finally a neutral (black and white) version. No doubt that this show is going back...I ended up with a pair of Brooks Ghost 11, size 8.5, as the Brooks are the closest thing to my old favorites I have been able to find...and I have tried on A LOT of shoes! If you are sitting on the fence about this shoe, or not believing other reviews...I gotta say...they tell the truth. This shoe is not what it usedta be. What a shame!

Unfortunately, Asics continues to disappoint. I was really hopeful with the 20 they would get it right, but the shoe continues to run small, fit way too narrow in the toe box and this one just felt very stiff. I have worn asics for over a decade, but starting with the 18 the shoe never fits. Asics used to be my go to shoe, but no more until they go back to their old ways.

Very disappointed - I've been wearing gel cumulus for over ten years and they worked well for me as I have custom orthotics and a high arch and a sciatica problem in my back. Now the 19 and 20 I've tried - they hurt my back! Wish they had left them as previous years (before the 19)! I ended up trying many pairs of other shoes and brands and ended up with a Brook.

I have purchased many ASICS Gel Cumulus running shoes over the years. I get the same every time, just the newest update. The past several have been very inconsistent in fit and comfort. I had to return the Gel Cumulus 20 due to much narrower and too small. I already go up a half size due to orthotics. I will have to order a full since larger. Come on ASICS! Don’t let us all down as loyal customers. Be more consistent in size with your new versions of the same model. I ordered Stone Gray/Black 2. Love the look but not the fit.

Great update from the Cumulus 19. Toe box seems to be wider and the overall cushion feels more plush than its predecessor. Love, love, love! Are there any more colors coming later this year?

I’ve been wearing the Cumulus for a few years but unfortunately had to return this model because they were too stiff and were giving me blisters in a few spots. I don’t know what Asics changed from the 19s to this model but these are just uncomfortable now to run in.

I’ve run in the Cumulus for years now and all with the same size. I had challenges with the 19 being too small (lost a toe nail!) so I went up a half side with the 20 to ensure I had more room. First run was 4 miles and I immediately felt the difference in the toe box design for the 20 vs. the 19. Big improvement. I run w/ no socks and after 4 miles, my feet felt great and not a blister to be seen! Happy customer and happy with the improvements in the 20!

Walking 3 miles with my wife every morning, she complained about problems with the narrow toe box in her normal 8.5 size, Medium Width ASICS Gel-Cumulus 20. Kicking up to 9.5 size solved the problem without any downside. 78 years young!

ASICS are my go-to workout shoe and these are no different. I think other sneakers are more stylish, but lots of them hurt my feet. Not ASICS. I have a narrow foot and I always buy my ASICS a size too large and that’s what works for me (normally a 7/7.5 in boots; I buy ASICS in 8.5).

Great fit for high arches, narrow feet. I needed to update my gel equations that ASICS does not make anymore. I usually wear an 8.5-9 and the 9 felt good. I also tried the 9.5 which were a little more roomy width-wise but I didn’t feel comfortable going bigger in size. I have plantar fasciitis with high arches and narrow feet. I need excellent arch and heel support which these provide. Light weight and great cushioning. Not quite a perfect replacement for my Equations, but pretty close. I run about 15 miles a week. Would recommend.

They just don’t feel like Asics used to feel and fit. Feels like card board with a little bit of foam attached. Don’t know what’s up with Asics last several years, used to be an avid fan. Have gone with Brooks for the time being.

I ordered a wide in my regular size. There is a nice wide toe box with a just-right narrow heel, and it’s cushioned around the ankle. Toes have enough room to flex inside this shoe. Really secure, stable, comfortable and breathable shoe. I’ll probably add a Spenco Arch cushion to fit my high arches. The blue color is sort of a denim shade, pretty low key, not fluorescent or flashy. Really great fit and nice-looking too.

Why is it so hard to find shoes that fit? I tried these (Cumulus) and the Nimbus, both in the same size (12M) and neither worked. Both were really narrow, though the Cumulus seemed a bit less narrow. The Cumulus was also too short - though my toes had a little wiggle room, it wasn't enough and not something I'd want for cruising through our hilly neighborhood. The Nimbus was longer and more of the length I was expecting. The Cumulus cushioning seemed ok; nothing to write home about but maybe it's not fair to comment on that aspect since they were just uncomfortable overall. Sending them back and will keep looking... hopefully I'll find something before spring outdoor weather kicks in!

I have worn ASICS for several years now. The Cumulus 20 just didn't feel right. I wish I could explain in detail - just was uncomfortable. I was very disappointed. It has been my walking shoe - I walk 5 miles a day. I had to order Vionics which I have done before.

I was looking to replace my fourth pair of Ascis GEL-Cumulus. Although I wasn't too thrilled with the color selection offered for the 20, I went ahead and purchased the azure/blue. I had to return the shoes. The soul did not seem to provide the cloud-like comfort of my past versions. The toe box was also too narrow for my high arched duck feet. I've never had to order wide before but perhaps it's time since the regular just appears to be getting more narrow with each iteration.

I wear a 7.5 in street shoes and an 8 in sneakers, but I went up to an 8.5 in this shoe because I wear orthotic inserts that are a little thick and can be too wide for a lot of brands. I had the version 18 of this shoe and while I loved the look of that shoe, it was just too narrow throughout and especially in the toe box for me to wear my inserts. With this version, Asics has definitely given you a lot of room in the toe so your feet don't get too scrunched up while you're walking or running. It is a little stiff at first but within a couple of wears, it loosens right up. I also think it feels more cushioned than other brands (I also have a pair of Brooks Ghost 9 on rotation). I had gone away from Asics for a little while but, for now, I'm back.

Not sure yet. Have worn gel cumulus for many years. The 18 was the best. They seem to have changed the last so that my bunion is not as well accommodated. Just wearing them in my apartment.

The sizing on ASICS’s has gotten so wonky! I’ve read reviews of this shoe saying it ran small...and it does...BUT it also runs large! I am size 5 in street shoes and a 6 in most running shoes, including ASICS. My last 4 pairs have been the Gel Nimbus 18 because they were so good but I decided to try the Cumulus. Not sure what size to order, since there’s many reviews advising to size up, so I ordered two pairs, a 6 and a 6.5. The 6 was def small, smaller than my Nimbus 6 and the 6.5 was huge, like at least a whole size up from a 6. See the pic....the pink shoe is my current size 6 Gel Nimbus, the dark grey is the 6 Cumulus and the light grey is 6.5 Cumulus. IMO the Cumulus 6 fits like a 5.5 in all other running shoes and the 6.5 is like a 7! It seems like this model’s sizing is completely off and like they skipped a size between the 6 and 6.5. Sigh. Now, not sure which size I should keep, a slightly smaller than ideal shoe or larger than ideal! ? So, jury is still out on this shoe, will come back and update review...if I keep one!

I really wanted to like them! Well because everyone has said Asics are great? They might have been before? But not now! They had lumps on the insole bellow my foot? I could tell that if I wore them for more then 5 minutes there was going to be a problem! But Zappos will always take care of you!

Asics just doesn’t seem to be made as they have been in the past. It’s super disappointing, because I have always loved Asics. I’m not sure what’s going on, but I hope they get it together and go back to the way they used to make shoes. These heel of these shoes were very narrow (I have a medium width foot), and I also had to order a half size up, which is different from previous Asic purchases. I exchanged for a half size up, but I was still disappointed.

I have been running in Gel Cumulus for a quite a while and have loved them. However, the new Gel Cumulus 20 is more narrow than my previous Gel Cumulus shoes. It doesn't fit my foot the way my others have. I'm now on the search for a different running shoe unfortunately.
