I walk a lot, between 3 and 5 miles each day, so having good, durable shoes is really important to me. These shoes look really cool. The tongue is not as wide as I prefer. You can definitely see my socks on the sides of the tongue. The laces are a little finicky. It's easy to make them too tight, especially toward the toes, but if you don't make them tight enough, the tie will become undone. I'm still figuring out these shoes haha

Had the last downshifters and loved them, these updated ones have a redesigned lace aspect which catches the laces at particular spots and is much more likely to have uncomfortable tension build up rather than sliding through and evening out.

These felt somewhat tight for 4E and pinky toe is really squished. Hopefully breaking them in will make the fit better. No cushion at the bottom, but they are really nice looking shoes.

I have a pair of Nike 4E in size 10 so i ordered the same size. I wore them around the house for a day and they were very tight. So tight it caused tingling in my foot. The pressure points were by the wide part of my foot/ball of foot and where the laces tie (I do have high arches). Returned for a larger size. I do like all black look.

As parents of boys who are pretty much just writing a monthly check to Nike, we've owned a few pair of shoes. These are standard, but they feel pretty basic. They seem true to size but were a little narrow in the front (necessitating a larger size when the length isn't really necessary). Overall, they're fine, because our son will wear them for ten seconds before his feet grow. But I wouldn't invest in these for the long term.

I'm normally a size 9 and bought these as such. They fit ok, except that the front of the shoe in the toe area is really shallow, so it felt like the top of my toes were touching the top of the shoe. I went on a short run and they rubbed too much so I ordered a 9.5. The 9.5 did have more room in the front but had the same issue so I'm returning both pairs and trying out a different running shoe.

Not comfortable to run in. This shoe is mostly for people with narrow feet.

I used to order Nike size 10, but this one I think I have to order Nike size 9.5. The shoe is a bit too long. I can feel my feet slipping inside if the sole is slippery. It is also hard to tighten the shoe laces.
Also, no protection up front like the RN 7. If someone step on your foot, the feeling is the same as they are stepping on your bare foot.

I wear these shoes every day for both working out and daily use. They are very comfortable.
I purchased these 4 months ago and they are starting to degrade. The sole is starting to pop when I walk and the back of the heal is starting to break apart, even though I use a shoe horn to put these on each time.
Additionally, the soles are wearing out faster than any shoe I've used in the past.
I have fallen arches. The support was not enough, but I bought additional arch supports and they fit nicely and comfortably in these shoes.
I'd also recommend:

This shoe’s sole has completely separated from the rest of the shoe in less than 4 months! This shoe has only been worn during my 11 year old’s school day. Would not recommend purchase!!

The shoes were ok to us while being up and about. I used this shoes to run 3.5 miles several times, after my run I would pain in my heel. I noticed the shoes don’t provide me with adequate protection while I run. I will be returning this shoes because I cannot use them for what I bought them for-run.

I have purchased and loved 3 pairs of the Nike Downshifter 6 and 7 shoes. Thiese shoes don't have nearly the cushion in the forefoot, the new lacing system is difficult to use and the toe reinforcement is on the inside where it irritates the toes.
I sent them back. Why can't they just leave a good thing alone?

The shoe felt really comfy and had plenty of cushion in the heel, which is what I've been looking for, but the issue is that the sides are really soft and offer no support to keep my feet from leaning to the side. It felt really awkward to walk as the heel would sink in at random and cause my foot to lean inward.
Also, I guess it's my fault for not reading the description, but the pictures aren't that clear to show that the top front part of the shoe is a mesh type thing that lets air in. Which is good for running but not for an everyday shoe. My current shoes have that mesh and whenever it rains my feet get soaked.

I wasn't sure how to mark the sizing on this shoe. Nikes always seem to run small. My last pair was a 9, though I tend to wear a 7.5 in most other brands. So I ordered a nine again and it was a full size too big. This shoe's description is for the underpronator, but it is definitely for the overpronator. Just from standing position my heel felt like it rolled outward. Plus the construction of these would only work for people who have flat feet (which underpronators largely do not have). Too bad, they were nice looking in person.

After only two months of light use the heal cup developed a burr that dig into the skin on my heal. I would not recommend these to anyone.

This shoe has no padding on the ball of the foot. It has a great style but feels very weak in support.

This shoe was not a true 4E width. I have bought multiple 4E shoes in other brands and they fit without issue, but that was not true of this shoe. I had to return it because it was not wide enough.

Unfortunately these are the worst Nike running shoes I've ever purchased. I've been buying various versions of Nike runners for several years now from Zappos, and almost everything about the Downshifter 8 is off. I had to send the first pair back because they were *at least* a half if not a full size bigger than the same size I've always bought from Nike.
Once I got a comparable "size", they still feel ridiculously tight around the middle/top of the foot, and ridiculously wide in the ball/toe area. Some Nikes in the past took a few miles to break in, no problem, but these are at 30+ miles and have no change in the discomfort areas described above.
Also perhaps less important but really annoying, the mesh area above the toes almost seems to wick any moisture INTO the shoe, so even if just the ground is wet my feet are still getting soaked.
So nothing good to say about these shoes... hoping it's an anomaly within the Nike running family, but save yourself from this particular iteration.
