I have had this bag for about 6 months in a size medium, it fits everything that I need for my train ride to/from work daily. Gym clothes, breakfast, lunch, laptop, you name it! Medium is the perfect size and the perfect fit. Honestly though, my favorite part is that if anything leaks in the bottom it wipes right out! Couldn't be happier. Only wish I could re-position the strap since I'm a lefty...

I purchased this as a second carry-on bag for trips to avoid checked luggage, after trying two other types that for various reasons didn't work in the end. This medium size bag has terrific volume if you need it and is well made. My only concern is the internal bottle holder, the neck of which is not wide enough to accommodate a Camelback, which is too bad since I have a water-purifying Camelback I use on overseas travel. I'm concerned that forcing the Camelback in would tear the seam. Perhaps an elastic drawstring there to solve that problem in the future.

This bag is the perfect size to throw all your stuff in and go. It has a lot of room, lightweight, and I have no problem getting it into concert and show venues with all the bag restrictions. The only negative is I personally feel the strap is not long enough. I like to wear my bags a bit lower, not high up on my chest or back. If the strap was a bit longer this would be the perfect bag!!

I got the Brass/Army bag.
I have 3 Classic Messenger bags, and thought I'd try this one. I love the material - very sturdy and has a great feel. I also really like the new center strap. I wish my other bags were made like this.
But I also wish there were more pictures online. I thought the brass color would be the plastic bits, and the "army" part would be a military khaki fabric. The army color turned out to be olive green plastic buckles. The "brass" is the fabric - but in reality the bag is almost orange, and has a neon yellow lining. These colors should not be used together.
When I first opened it, I hated it. But within a day I grew to like it.
This is seriously the best made Timbuk2 messenger I own, including my one custom bag. I hope all messengers are made like this in the future. I'd like to buy another one with custom colors.

This bag is so versatile! It fits a variety of tablets (my fire tablet, my Chromebook, and iPad) so the sizing is perfect. Whether it's gym day or travel day I can keep my water bottle secure, although the sizing for the pockets is tight, certain water bottles don't fit, but it's not a deal breaker for me. I care more about holding electronics, keys, and using it as a travel bag and for that purpose it fits my needs. Overall it's a wonderfully designed bag and you even use it like a purse due to the size. I would definitely recommend this bag to my friends and family.

I bought this bag to downsize from a large backpack and because I liked the color. Overall I like the quality but I did not see that it does not have side pockets large enough for a water bottle, or at least one on one side, with some sort of mesh or something. I waited for the color I wanted (Rust) to be back in stock, and it is just as pictured. The side pockets are useless, because I am not going to put my keys or my wallet there, where they could be easily taken, but also because they don't fit. It came with the extra length of the strap hidden there, and it looks like it's the only thing that it could work for. For the price, a stretchy pocket for a small to medium water bottle is not much to ask for. My MacBook Air fits in the Small size, and it's OK for work, but I would not travel with it due to the lack of pockets on the side.

I love this bag. I use asa camera bag with the proper inserts. I wish the buckle straps were made with the same material as the sateen shoulder strap. The buckle straps are made of cotton and it gets caught on the Velcro which caused them to fray. After a while it gets pretty ugly. I wish I knew before and had purchased the Bag Silencers.

I bought my first classic messenger bag in 2009-2010. It had external pocket sleeves for bottles, additional internal pockets/zippered storage, external zippered access to the padded laptop storage and an exterior luggage handle sleeve. I physically wore out that bag from daily use for work and for travel and ordered new one about two years ago. That version moved the bottle storage inside (which works better than I thought), eliminated the external zipper access to the padded laptop space inside (also fine and better rain protection), reduced some internal storage/zipper storage (also fine), but also eliminated the exterior luggage handle sleeve. I still bought the bag but I am always looking for a new travel bag with the sleeve for rolling luggage bag convenience. My wife and I just took an island hopping trip through Greece. I really needed the luggage handle sleeve. Now, you create a "Flight" Classic Messenger bag and still have no handle sleeve?

I bought this looking for a bag that's not a backpack, will hold my laptop, and will hold a small lunch and a mug for my tea.
This does all that, but...
The handle is on the side of the bag. Why is the handle on the side of the bag? In my experience, handles work best on the top.
The strap isn't removable. Good for durability, not great for convenience.
The laptop pouch really could use some more padding. Laptops are built thin and flimsy these days, I'd definitely like more protection.
There's purple. I mean, it's a nice purple, but you still should know that there are a significant amount of purple things on this bag. I mention this because the description says "Scout/Shade", no mention of "purple" or a picture.
The handle that's on the side really isn't very handy. Just a very basic nylon strap. Did I mention it's on the side of the bag? Like the vertical part.
One thing though, the strap that's not removable can slip inside the laptop pouch for some needed extra padding.
---------------
That said, the bag is very well made. If you're going to be using the shoulder strap all the time then I'd recommend it. If you're not keen on the shoulder strap then I'd look for something different.

Shoulder Strap always twists. Always. The straps on the front get stuck on the front Velcro and fuzzed out. Velcro on the inside is tearing off. 2 years of near everyday use.

The bag itself is solidly constructed. I bought the XS and the strap is a tad short, but still workable.
The really annoying part though is that the pictures on the website are not of the bag they send you. I bought it in in jet black/blue wish, and in the pictures the interior of the bag is blue. In fact, the interior is fluorescent yellow!
Additionally the lining had blue ink stains on the inside that appear to have been caused during manufacturing.
Ultimately, those cosmetic issues may not matter to you as the bag is strong and the materials look sturdy, but I'm going to return it.

Overall the bag is well designed. However, the strap is too short for me to comfortably use it as a crossbody bag. Works as a shoulder bag.

This is a small messenger bag, and I'm a small person. Unfortunately it is too small to take a surface pro and portfolio to work - if you pack nothing else it almost works, until you ou hit the mesh pockets inside. Hard to use and I end up carrying the bag and other papers since it's such a squeeze. Get the next bigger size! Also strap is not adjustable to the ultra short (me).

It's pretty good! I bought this to be a lighter weight and more stylish option than my large backpack for running errands, bringing on planes, and commuting. I had put the bag silencer straps on it but removed them because my items kept falling out through the gap between the bag and flap. I've had other bags that were more weatherproof - I recently got caught outside in a strong rain storm and about a tablespoon of water got in the bag. On one hand, only a tablespoon is pretty good, but my stuff still got wet.
The capacity is sufficient for a light bag or purse. I find I have a lot of trouble keeping it closed securely with the internal magnetic strap- it doesn't seem like it works well to cinch down anything bulky and it makes getting things out of a closed bag complicated. I worry constantly that stuff will fall out.
The pocketing is well organized, but I wish the key leash were attached to the napoleon pocket instead of the frontmost pocket - I can't keep anything in there because it bulges too much.
The strap is a weird length - I have a very short torso (like; mike wazowski over here) and I find that when I adjust it so the bag rides in the small of my back, I am limited by the strap pad on how much I can shrink it.
Overall, I have no doubts about the bag's durability, so I'll keep using it, but I wouldn't buy another one. The colors are also gorgeous, even if the red looks brighter / more orangey in all photos (including my own). This is probably a great bag for someone who doesn't happen to be me.

Use this bag daily.
Not too crazy about:
- the magnetic clasp loop that is supposed to help cinch the bag closed snug; doesn't help much.
- moving the elastic webbing for eyeglass case/water bottle to the inside of the bag; eats-up space.
- the napoleon pocket, zippered pocket, and shove it pocket being piled on top of each other; can get bulky quick.
- the ineffective pen pouch; bag frequently vomits pens.
- the lack of padding in laptop/tablet pouch.
- the "adjustable" shoulder strap; mechanism fails and strap slips.
My 10 y/o timbuk2 TSA friendly commuter bag was better designed.

I like the bag but am concerned about the Prop 65 hazardous materials warning that came with it. I am guessing that lead in the plastic lining may be the source for this warning. Can you source materials that don't pose a risk to consumers? Thanks Joe

This bag meets all my needs but I purchased the S size rather than the XS because it stated that the strap was removable. It is not. At least I have yet to figure out how to remove the strap.
The bag itself comfortably fits my GoPro gear, gimbal, and drone with a little room to spare for odds and ends. The bag is sturdy and seems constructed well enough to last for many filming treks.
The bamboo colour is not quite what I expected but it's not horrible.
