Last month I purchased my 3rd pair of X Ultra 3 Wide Mid Gore-Tex. Since my first pair I have been thrilled with the comfort of these lightweight boots. I do a lot of jagged rock scrambling and these boots offer excellent grip and support that has kept me from falling more than once.

I absolutely love these boots, they are my go to shoes for hiking and walking in the hills where we live. Best ever!

The X Ultra 3 has been my sole warm weather hiking boots for the last couple of years (Quest 3's for the cold and wet). Comfortable right out of the box and never fatiguing. They have held up well in Colorado, Idaho and Montana terrains.

I decided to upgrade my hiking boots as I have started to hike more in retirement! Glad I got the wide as people recommended. The toe comfort and waterproof has held up on the 6 short hikes so far and have been impressed with their grip in a lot of creek beds. Looking forward to a long multi-day hike next month to really put them through a thorough test!

Since I've retired I've had the time to do the hiking I've always wanted to do. As a matter of fact I've gone through 3 pairs of boots already! I shopped around and tried different ones. The 3rd pair was so good, I bought the same thing for my 4th pair. It was these Solomon hikers.

Trail runners have always been too light for me. I have a pair of heavy backpacking boots that seemed a little too heavy. These seem like a great compromise. They're the most grippy shoes I've ever had. And, they seem to have good ankle support. Used on some big day hikes in steep terrain. Only complaint is that they're a little more blue than they appear in the photo - I think they're ugly.

I bought these as all around hikers and backpacking boots for the Midwest. However, I recently used them on a 6 day backpacking trip in the Sierra Nevada's which included climbing Mt. Whitney. They hold up under all terrain and are completely waterproof. I'm a big guy, 270 lbs, and I was carrying a 47l lbs pack and the boots did great.

Listen I have a very wide foot and I also wear a size 14, when I saw these I didn't think they would fit nor did I think they would be any good since I've almost never seen anyone wearing them on trails I hike. Well, these are amazing! They inspire a confident step on trail like never before. And they fit like a hiker is supposed too; able to wiggle my toes yet still get a snug feel everywhere else without it being tight. I'll try to update down the line because I have more trails to put them through.

I got this x ultra 3 mid gore tex this year and in March and used them to went to Santa Isabel Volcano which is locate in Tolima, Colombia. These salomon are great for rain, mud conditions. The weather to get to the volcano's top was harsh conditions but the salomon x ultra 3 mid gore tex were EXCELLENT

The quality and comfort are great. Easy break in. The GTX works!!

No need break in and very comfortable worth to buy it

This is the second pair I have owned. I wear them every morning for a 1.5 hour dog walk/ hike. This is the only shoe I have ever worn where I am walking down a trail and marvel at how comfortable they are. 1st pair exploded after a year of abuse, worth 3 times as much as you pay full price.

I've been wearing my X ULTRA 3 MID GTX boots for 2 years of extensive use. Whatever you can think of using this boot for, it'll probably hold up. These have held up so much better than the X ULTRA 3 GTX shoe that I also have. I attribute that to the solid construction and welding of materials in the toe box, that give the shoe plenty of protection and durability. The fit is (slightly) narrow, but after a short break in period, they are almost too comfortable. Who knew a hiking shoe like this could feel like a sock! After 2 years of putting them through the wringer, the X ULTRA 3 MID GTX have performed up to the standard that I have come to expect from Salomon. Now that I live in AZ, and the temps are high, I am looking for something that offers more lightweight breathability, but I will always consider keeping room in my closet for a pair of Salomon X ULTRA's, and while I'm looking forward to trying the X ULTRA 4 MID GTX's, my 3's still have lots of juice left! Thanks Salomon, you did it! NOTE: I did, recently, experience the forming of what feels like a small bubble in the inside of the toe-box by my big toe. It was so uncomfortable that I had to stop wearing the boots completely ( BIG SAD!) Because of the (solid) construct of the shoe, I could only access that spot by finger to feel it out. By working the material with my hands, I was able to smooth out the bubble for the most part, and can now wear the boots again (YAY!) This makes me very happy because I would like to continue to use these boots for many more adventures!
