Fit and size was good. Laces are poor quality material and have to keep re tying them constantly as the knot loosens up frequently. Calling Salomon was no help. Invest in good laces after purchase and you will have a good pair of boots. Nobody cares about quality anymore

Good shoe for walking, standing. They are a little slippery on wet surfaces like metal, concrete. Not so warm in the winter I recommend some warm socks. I love theses in the summer, like them better than keens. Just based of the one I have personally owned.

Bought these as my moderate weather and temperature around town and hiking shoes. Have been an exclusive Merrell owner for the last decade (sneakers, boots, hiking, work shoes) but lately they just do not hold up like they used to. So I've just started to branch out. Upon first wear off these I was unsure if I liked them. However I made myself keep them around and wear them around the house for a few days and they quickly grew on me. Now after some around town wear and a couple short hike I'm very happy I kept them. Love the snug fit, but they are more narrow than you're standard similar hiker so I could see some people needing to order it in wide. Also as I saw in other reviews the tongue and ankle support is very thick so the first few wears will require retying of the laces until you get used to what you need to do to get it properly tightened for your personal comfort. After only 2 weeks I already feel the boots tighten easier and hold well.
Bottom line, definitely recommend these and plan on getting more Salomon a for additional conditions. Also can't wait to get these boots on some long hikes.

I normally wear a size 8 USA men's size boot. I ordered an 8 EE to make sure that the width would be sufficient, as some said these were narrow. I had to return the 8 EE and get an 8.5 EE, as even with the wide width, these were too narrow. My feet are neither narrow or wide. I would go up 1/2 your normal size, and additionally order a wide width, if you plan on wearing a thick hiking sock with these, or even a medium hiking sock if you don't have extremely narrow feet.
Other than sizing issues; these appear to be a very solid boot.

They are waterproof like any other I've had. The are comfortable and get hot out in the sun. After about 6 months mine are coming apart the glue is wearing off. Do not recomend these shoes for that kind of money if you plan on going outdoors and getting rough with them. Other than that they are a good shoe.

My wife bought these for me for a Christmas gift in December 2020. I've never had a comfortable pair of hiking boots (due to not knowing I needed a wide fit!) These were comfortable, light and waterproof until the upper started to fray and eventually split. I'm really disappointed because comfort-wise, they were an excellent boot. I think I got about 6 months out of them before this happened. Ireland is a wet place, so I really can't use them now.

Very comfortable and versatile hiking shoe. Used it for hiking 14ers in Colorado, Mt Kilimanjaro and Grand Canyon rim to rim. Excelled in all kinds of terrain and technical hikes. Comfortable enough that they can be worn for casual winter wear.

Initially I was irritated that the size 13 wide was not available when looking to upgrade from my Merrell boots, but after trying some Keen (too squishy), La Sportiva (too narrow), and Lowa (too heavy) boots, I finally found these in stock and picked them up in the spring of 2022. They were comfortable out of the box, break in was super easy, and now I have worn them for miles of spring practice hikes in the Appalachians, summer vacation to Rocky Mountain NP, casual weekend adventures, and more, and I could not be more happy with them. I am over 250 lbs. and pretty heavy on my feet, and these offer plenty of padding and plenty of support for easy hiking and quick downhills on the rocky trails. I have been having difficulty finding comfortable shoes since I started having to buy wide size, and Brooks Ghost running shoes and these boots are all I wear now. I pair them with Weatherproof wool blend socks when its cold, and ordinary Hanes X-Temp athletic socks when hot or normal, and my feet are comfortable and not too hot to cold or sweaty. Never a blister or anything. Offers great traction in everything I have walked through, from dry sandy Colorado trails, snow banks, muddy trails on the AT in Virginia, and everything else. The included laces are even pretty good. I'm a 5 star man, and I give these boots 5 stars too.

The best boots I've ever had, I had bought Nike pegasus trail but I think they are not for me, Salomon gives me more stability and better comfort for my feet, I highly recommend them.

I have worn Solomon's for many years, they are the best hiking shoes, I am size 8.5 EE wide fits prefect
I'd also recommend:
Other brands for wide feet are Keens, it has the wide toe box.

IMO ... THIS is the ONLY day-boot to own. I have been wearing Salomons (exclusively) for years and THIS boot is AS GOOD AS IT GETS! It would be a HUGE shame IF ... they ever discontinue ... the model.

Boots are comfortable and long lasting. My feet are EEE and the boots provide enough width that I feel no crowding on my feet. They provide good foot and ankle support, as well as adequate traction when hiking/hunting. I bought my first pair in early 2019 and wear the boots almost daily. Treadwear is highly acceptable given the fact that wear the boots daily. The old boots are being retired into a work boot roll and the new boots will become the new daily wear boots. I highly recommend these boots!

This is the first pair of boots that lasted past a full hunting season. I walked cross country over rocks, mud and water. The lightweight helped me walk further out then I usually would. I cannot believe the toughness and comfort of these boots.

I bought a pair of X Ultra 3s in early 2019, my first Salomon purchase, and have loved them. These have been my only shoes for that span of time, and was happy how well they held up to all activities and daily use. Was even more happy to find the design/fit completely unchanged when I went looking for a replacement pair today, three years later. Really appreciate the quality and sticking to a great design without feeling the need to unnecessarily iterate.

My best friend nagged me for a while to take better care of my feet. He turned me onto Salomon for a solution for my work boots. I have now purchased my 5th or 6th pair of the Ultra 3. I cannot say enough good words about these boots. I am a certified chimney sweep and wear these boots all day every day. I work 12 to 16 hour days and spend much of that time on roofs. I definitely put these boots to the test. I love how comfortable they are, they do a wonderful job of giving me proper support and keep my feet in great shape at the end of a long hard day. I walk on all types of surfaces and regularly get them wet. The traction of these boots is as good if not better than my roofing boots and my feet always stay dry. The only problem I ever have with my Ultra 3 wide's is when the current pair is worn out, I have not always planned ahead and ordered my next pair. My size isn't always available right when I want. However, I am learning to order the next pair long before I need them. I will be wearing this boot every day until they are no longer made. . . which I hope never happens!

I ended up purchasing these boots based on the reviews of the X Ultra Mid 3 Aero being too narrow of a boot even for narrow feet. I don't have wide feet at all but the reviews led me to purchasing these boots. They are categorized as a wide hiking boot but I have worn other hiking boot brands and these should be categorized as a normal width. So if you also have narrow feet and you're worried the Mid 3 Aero are going to be too narrow, these X Ultra 3 Wide Mid Gore-Tex are super comfortable and not extremely wide where you have no support. These are my go to hiking boots over my Danner's.

I love this boot so much that I have one pair that I am wearing and have on hand 3 other pair so that when I wear this pair out I have plenty of backups. Great no matter the weather. Gore-tex keeps my absolutely dry as long as don't go to deep in the water. Ankle protection is great, fit and stability are perfect given my wide foot.

I Had the previous version of this boot and absolutely loved them! Lightweight, waterproof and nimble on technical terrain. After 3+ years of almost daily use, they finally wore completely out!
The new version has conventional shoe laces and while they probably provide more secure foot to boot union—I preferred the quick sinch lace system for speed of use.
I ordered the wide fit and they are true to size and fit great! I have learned through the years, that boots with synthetic materials do not stretch to fit like leather, so a comfortable fit out of the box is essential.

I bought these for my husband and he absolutely loves the fit, durability and comfort. He has been able to wear them both with and without insoles. He has narrow feet and it works, though someone with wide feet might choose a wider toe style or wear thinner socks. I ordered his usual size and it’s a perfect fit. They are also extremely waterproof and he can happily trudge through a couple of inches of water that I in my so-called water resistant Goretex boots simply get drowned in.
