These boots don't just let water and debris in, the design seems to invite it. I seriously have to stop several times every hike to empty these shoes out. The lower parts of the shoes are waterproof, but the tongue is not connected high enough to stop splashes from entering. Plus the collar of these flares out ridiculously, making them a veritable funnel for dirt, rocks, water, leaves, you name it. They're also too narrow in the toe box, which is probably why they had to release a "wide" version. This is frustrating for consumers like myself who bought another pair of Salomon boots and found the toe box extraordinarily wide. The tread provides good traction until the lugs pack up with mud, which happens more readily than with any boots I've ever owned. In a nutshell, these are disappointing.

Had high hopes, based on reviews here and elsewhere, but it's far too narrow. I'll try it in wide from another vendor.

They do no fit like a normal shoe size they fit way narrow, I would buy the wide if you want them to fit as a normal D width.
I will be returning for a wide size.

Framer 7 days ago Ouch!!!
This is my second pair and I can say I absolutely loved first pair so it was a no brainier to buy again...so I bought the wide because they tend to run narrow, at first they felt stout but comfortable so I wore them on a paved path 6 mile walk...oh my goodness I dont think my fest ever hurt so much, I got blisters on sides of both feet ( never had blisters there before) my toes felt sore also, so maybe next size up would relieve toes but mid foot outside edge blisters doubtful...I'm willing to continue wearing in hopes they break in but I'm very disappointed

I do wear these every day in the winter for work but did not expect the upper to split.

Had these for a over a year now but only just started really wearing them. Really comfortable, warm and waterproof however..I had to get my 1st pair replaced as the sole on the right boot sounded like it was making a popping noise when waking as if the glue had failed. So I got the replacement and the same has happened to this pair, right boot again. They're not worn out at all just faulty. Another problem I have found is when waking on wet rock they don't have very good grip and don't inspire confidence on inclines or decent's. Shame as they are really comfortable.

I was very happy with these boots for the first few months. They are comfortable and the waterproofing was great. after half a year they started leaking. an extra disappointment was that I discovered that drying takes forever with these boots. Several months later I noticed the sole getting very soft making it uncomfortable to stand on pointy rocks or on a rock with microspikes. Altough they still look fine after 1.5 years of moderate use, they are becomming unusable for longer hikes. I had quite a few hiking boots in the past, including other Salomon boots. these were probably the least durable boots I've owned so far, making it poor value for money in my view.

These boots are very comfortable, great traction and look great.
But.... 2nd pair that leaked. I thought the first was prob a exception, but then I got another pair and it leaked after very little use. Just being in the rain and they leak.. I'm an regular hiker and these boots are great except for the fact that they leak!!

I've had these boots for about a year now. They hurt my feet. My foot is wider then the footbed in the toe box area. They are very lightweight and durable. The boots also tighten almost instantly after putting them on in which I have to stop, untie, loosen the laces then tie again. I can overlook that but not the width.

I have had these boots for one year. The first 6 months saw under 50 miles of fairly easy hiking. They were kept very clean. Then I started a job at a state park and wore them about 35 miles a week. After only part of a season and under 400 miles the outer barrier is torn where the toe box ends and the tread is almost nonexistent. The soles are separating and the inserts are disintegrating. For less than a year of wear and diligent care in very disappointed with their durability.

These boots are created with to much support. They choked my leg around the ankle making them impossible to walk in.

I bought these for a backpacking trip to the Wind Rivers in Wyoming. When we were about to get to our camp it started to rain, after 20 minutes or so my toes were soaked. Very disappointed. Also, they don't seem to hold up to the abuse I put them through (what they were made for) very well.

Good boot but they leaked from the first time water was higher than the sole. When ever it rains I pull out my old Altitudes which stay dry after years of use. Got caught this weekend in a downpour and my feet were soaked the rest of the day.

I have the conundrum of having a narrow foot and having a narrow fit shoe not fitting comfortably. The photo sheds light - although overall my foot is narrow, at the mid point of the shoe, the sole of the shoe is substantially narrower than my foot. The shoe is very snug so it is critical that the foot shape match the shoe shape. I found it difficult to gauge this when trying the shoe on in the shop as everything felt quite snug until I'd worn the shoe for a couple of decent walks.

Further to my previous review - I think the basic problem is the 12.5UK boot I've bought is too small. I need a 13 or 13.5UK. It seems Salomon doesn't make them bigger than 12.5UK. This is surprising because there are a lot of men with my shoe size or larger.

I experienced poor performance of this shoe. Sole and uppers not supportive enough. Too flexible and soft. Can't walk on rocky areas due to lack of sole stiffness. Uppers collapse while I try to slide my foot in. Feet feel tired compared to my previous Salomon models. I consider myself an ex-customer.
Fit is good.
