Purchased size 8.5, based on this being my normal size for Brooks Ghost and Lowa Renegade Mid. At first the shoes felt big, but after replacing the insoles with Powerstep inserts that I use in all my other active shoes, the 8.5 is perfect. The shoes are absolutely great both on trail and road. Feet, socks stay totally dry, even in heavy rain. YaY!

Great shoe for hiking! So light weight and can be worn all day for walking/sight seeing for travel. Stylish athletic look. Definitely a must and great addition to your wardrobe!

I usually wear an 81/2 but sized up to a 9. Run just a bit short and if you wanted to wear a thicker sock it would be too snug.

I wear these shoes daily, walking our property with the dogs. Recently wore them hiking Currahee Mountain, GA, USA. They are waterproof, and the most comfortable shoe I have owned. This is the first shoe that has not murdered my toes on steep incline hikes. I purchased the size suggested by your sizing guide, and the fit is perfect.

I was looking for a hiking shoe but so many other styles felt bulky, heavy and wide. My feet are normal to narrow and they fit great. These feel like a regular athletic shoe but with the bonus of being waterproof and more supportive than regular athletic shoes.

I used your shoe fitting guide, and it works! Based on my most comfortable shoe, the guide suggested a half size larger than I usually wear, a 7.5 instead of a 7. These shoes are exactly what I was looking for and the fit is perfect.

Shoes are very comfortable. Cushioning is comfortable and there is a lot of wiggle room for my toes. Traction is great. No slips on ice or in mud. A little too intense for the treadmill since the tread is so great, but perfect for casual day wear, hiking, or doing anything outside. To compare, they run just a teeny bit larger than my Nikes, although I'm still and 8.5 in both brands.

I ordered these in my running shoe size (Brooks) 7.5. The fit was good. The arch support was not as much as I would like. I don't know if it's because of the gore-tex liner, but the shoe seemed bulkier than I am used to for a hiking shoe. I maybe just too used to hiking/backpacking in Altra's. It's a nice shoe, just not the shoe for me. Thank you Zappos for your great return policy!!
I'd also recommend:
Chaco, Altra, Brooks

I like the style, color (neutral black and dirt masking), comfort (breatheable and cushiony), light weight, and especially great traction/grip. Wish the shoes were a tiny bit longer to accommodate thick socks. The fit is perfect if wearing thin socks. Guess they are OK for hiking in warm/hot climate.
My husband bought the mens' version. I like his so much that I bought the women's pair myself.

They are perfect for cold weather. I have tried other water-poof shoes but could not wear them for long duration. These are perfect balance of comfortable and sturdy

I bought these for a light hiking trip in New Zealand. My foot runs a bit narrow and most hiking shoes seem to be too wide for me. These are nice and wide in the toe area and comfortably snug in the rest of the foot. I think they would be fine for a normal width foot. Like most hiking shoes, they aren't especially cushy, but they aren't as hard as some I've tried. Love the color...black with enough grey sprinkled through to look trendy, not nerdy.

These shoes are awesome, super lightweight, durable and compfortable! They do run a half-size big, I wear a size 8 in my TNF Ballard lace boots, but went with a 7.5 in these and happy i did so!

These are great. They will definitely guide you to being a foot stricker reather than heel striker in case thats helpful to know. They are much lighter weight than they look and they have great traction which might have you making noise as you walk on certain surfaces in case that makes a difference. For me thats ok because Im not usually on surfaces where that makes a difference. Great shoe!

After trying many different brands and sizes, I finally found shoes that feel roomy enough in the front and not too loose in the heel. Great traction. So far, I have had no problems with my knees or toes (which has been a problem with other brands in the past).
My last great pair of hiking shoes were North Face and I wore them until the treads were bare. I just hadn't been able to find another similar pair until now.

Shoes were very comfortable out of the box, worn for hours without pinching or blisters. Great support even with plantar fasciitis. Kept my feet comfortably warm in the cold, even whwn inactive. Thinking of buying a pair for work.

This shoes are perfect in every way from the moment I tried them on and walked my first 4 miles with them. No complaints. They also look nice and not bulky. I recommend this shoes.

I have usually been loyal to other mainstream brands and decided to take a chance on these because my other shows were wearing down way too quickly. All I can say is that I will be loyal and spend that extra buck on this brand! The support on the shoe is great and the overall look is beautiful.

This looks to be a durable hiking/trail running shoe. I took them out for a 6 mile run on the street and they were comfortable with just running socks. Can't wait to use them on the trails!

I'm currently participating in a hiking challenge and with the largest mountain on the list, Mount Washington, the highest peak in New England the coming weekend, I decided my running shoes probably weren't going to cut it anymore. I purchased these shoes two days before I left for my trip so other than trying them on for fit, I gave them no time to break it. Over the eleven miles of tough terrain, not once did my feet hurt, I didn't get any rubs or blisters and my feet stayed dry in the water crossings. The Vibram soles (I live near the factory where they are made, it was a requirement for picking my hiking boots and what made me choose The North Face) were extremely grippy on all types of rock and terrain and I didn't slip in them at all. Being used to my running shoes I was worried these were going to feel clunky or huge, but they were neither, I would happily wear them out when I wasn't necessarily going for a hike. I can't say enough good about these boots, worth every penny and I will probably be investing in the version that goes higher up the ankle as well in the future.

These hiking shoes are, in a word, GREAT! They're comfortable, super effective and they look great! I have worn them in the streets of Australia and on hikes. They haven't let me down and I'm grateful for that!
