The initial fit was a little quirky in the arch, but quickly became a great shoe. This is my 3rd pair of the 1340s I get a new pair every year and give my dad last year's version.

This shoe is outstanding! I could not find a suitable replacement for the original NB 1540 until this one came along. Just like with the original 1540, I have no foot pain in the sole of my foot or in my ankle with this shoe. Some sort of foot pain was always an issue with all other NB shoes I tried after they quit making the original 1540. Very comfortable, too!

I bought a pair of these to replace this same style my son in law wears. He needs a shoe for overpronation and has been happy with this style. He is a big guy, well over 6 feet, and does add a wedge to help. Got them at a very good price for Christmas. Thank you Zappos.

I had bought the 1240 model and was very very disappointed that was "shelved". The 1340's are close but not exact.

how much not to ask for, the ultimate shoe for the replacement of the 1340v2

The 1340 is by far the best shoe I have ever owned. I'm hooked. I'm fine with the V3. It fits my foot as good or even better than the V2. I agree it is a bit heavier than the V2. I'm under impressed with the two colors available, black and basic gray with a touch of basic blue. I'd prefer an option with some pizzazz in the colors.

This is my second pair. I have one pair for working around yard and other is for wearing out.

I take NB 6Es and this fit true for me. I use it as a walker and it is comfortable providing a cushy step. I sometimes push my foot into tied a sneaker and unfortunately the heal foam folded over in one of them. Barely noticable but a small bummer at the same time. Beyond that I'm lovin the shoe. I also like the flat style shoelace.

I ordered these for my husband. He has worn New Balance for many years. He usually take an 4E, but ordered the 6E and he loves them. I like the colors, a little more stylish than all white.

1340 v3 continues with excellent motion control but cushioning and flexibility significantly less than v2. The toe cap overlay is much larger causing rubbing on the knuckle of the big toe and less ventilation.

Never fix something that is already perfect. V3 were no where near the comfort level of the previous V2.

I returned this pair because the tongue on the left shoe was sewed in crooked.
I was happy with the return policy, NB made it easy.
Surprisingly, when I ordered the shoes they took 7 days to arrive, but the return shipment took 3 days! For some reason companies ship by UPS or FedEx, who then drop off to USPS for delivery to the home, always adds time!

The shoe was wider in the forefoot compared to V2 (although I prefer a more narrow forefoot) and the materials were good. Regarding the forefoot thickness, your foot feels closer to the road where as I prefer a thicker forefoot such as offered in the Beast 2018. What I didn't like the most was the thin, stretchy laces and in width 'D', I had to lace then completely to the last eyelet and tie a double knot so the laces wouldn't touch the ground when tied. I think they over corrected the V2 which had trail shoe laces and could never seem to be secure.

I have hard feet to fit. I have had good success with New Balance, I went for this model since it was the closest to the pair I have been wearing daily for a few years. I noticed right away that the sizing was not what I expected, I normally get a 9 1/2 2E but this size in this model resulted in a shoe that was much too long and narrow. I tried 4 different pairs, with different length and width combinations, and none fit me right. It came down to the shoe rubbing my pinky toe, even in the 4E width. This model has a outer reinforced toe (which my old pair did not have) which was the main cause of my toe rubbing.
Too bad, I was hopeful these would be a good pair for me. I bought through Zappos on purpose so that I could try on different pairs and not have a short window of time to return them. Thanks for being cool, Zappos!

These shoes look nice! However they are like all the New Balance shoes now with a rollbar, too hard, no cushioning in the ball of the foot. I wear orthotics so I thought maybe I could get away with less cushioning but no. I wish New Balance would make supportive shoes with a rollbar but make them cushioned in the forefoot. They would make a lot of people happy from what I read online!!!!! I'm back to still looking a good shoe that I can walk in, it is becoming increasingly difficult to find anything!!!! I will continue to look however because I have too!!!!

So I have to say how disappointed I am. Usually NB in 4E (double wide) feel pretty comfortable. The arch support is great, the heel support good, and they felt wide enough in the toe box, but after wearing them for a few hours (unfortunately outside of the house so I can't return them) my toes were rubbed very badly. I think it's the material. Very hard and the shoes are super heavy. Time to try yet another shoe!

I’m so disappointed in New Balance. I’ve had several versions of the 1340, and it seems that with each upgrade, the quality and fit goes down. I have very wide feet with bunions; it’s difficult to find a good fit. These felt like a EE or narrower, not a EEEE. There were unfinished seams on the tongue, and it just didn’t feel solid. I’ll be returning. Thanks, Zappos, for your great customer service.

Over the past year or so I've purchased this specific shoe style multiple times and it has fit perfectly every time - except this time. Not sure the problem, but the right shoe is tighter than the left shoe. I don't believe it is my foot that has changed, but the shoe instead. My existing shoes of the same model all feel great as does the left shoe of the new one I received. But the right shoe isn't correct. Is this a defect or have they somehow changed the way the shoe is manufactured? Guess I will never know, but I'm certainly disappointed and afraid to buy another pair.

These shoes are not really comfortable. They are really hard on the feet, no cushioning and extremely heavy. I sent them back.

Agree with the previous reviewers about the problems. . My 1340 v2 were much lighter and more comfortable. The new model are very heavy, and very stiff. Would not consider buying again unless they change back.

In order to not have the shoe slip in the heel, I need to lace up through the cuff which is too high and too stiff and causes pain where it wraps around the foot. Not lacing up through the cuff provides a way too lose fit in the heel with the back of the foot sliding up and down. They're also heavy and generally stiff.
