This boot will get beat up and last you for years. I believe there's a trade off with comfort though. Not as much cushion around the foot as a hiker would have. Therefore it fits a little looser.

I have a pair of issued 8" duty boots in 13 med that fit perfectly. These are the same size and width, but fit much larger. I tried 12s, but they were too small. Very disappointing. They look great, but it is hard to find the right fit!

Boot was very comfortable at first. Quality deteriorated quickly. After six months boots were very uncomfortable. I wear them 10-12 days a month. Purchased them as a ems boot for the station. Disappointed and expected better quality.

These boots are made by Wolverine and they definitely run on the large side. I will complete my review when I get a pair that fits. Be patient. I am.

The Brindle color is actually solid green - it is not a green/brown composite. When I received them my first thought was that I had been sent the wrong color - a sage boot, not the brindle even though the box said brindle. When I looked online I realized the MOAB 2 Mid-tactical waterproof wide isn't made in sage. I checked the model number and it checked against the brindle model number. No idea why the pictures on the web site are not representative of the actual color, but know that if you want what you see on line you may well be disappointed - I was, the boots were on their way back to Merrell 1/2 hour after they were delivered.
The size was spot on though - so 3 stars for that.

* I have been a long time customer of Merrell and am usually pretty happy with the products I have been receiving.
* This boot is off a bit. The color is not what they described it as. This pair is more grey than the original "coyote" that it was marketed under.
* Sizing. I have worn a size 13 W for the past 20 years. I purchased a 13 W again and they are too large. I have to tie them extremely tight in order to get them to fit close to comfortable so that my feet dont shift or slide within the boots. I am contiplating exchanging these for a 13 R but am scared those will be too narrow.
* Shoe lace restraint tab that is sewn onto the outside tongue of each boot has come off on one of the two boots within the first 3 days.
* So far they do seem to be waterproof. I wore Them in an awful downpour last week and my feet felt dry.

The laces always come untied and they feel uncomfortable tucked in. I had to buy a string fastener in order to keep the shoe tight.

Boot fits well and looks great. Breaking in took much longer than anticipated (3-4 weeks wearing everyday for work. The insoles are super thin and flimsy. I took them to the mountains for a week long hunting trip after owning them for a month and the soles are trashed. There are chunks that just split from the sole from walking. Also, don't forget what waterproof means. If water (or sweat) gets in, it'll stay in. If you're not going to work in them, they look good.

I bought these boots and a half of inch of slush got through. Feet were frozen. Definitely don't recommend to any LEO.

Bought a pair and in 2 months the stitching busted and a hole formed at the toe of the shoe. For the price, the quality missed the mark. 2/5 and won't be buying this kind again.

The boots look nice and are lightweight but run very narrow for size and I couldn't get comfortable. Many of my coworkers have and like the boots but they never seem to keep water out past three months.

After 2 1/2 months these boots are no longer waterproof and the stitching is separating at the ends of the toe guard. There is no warranty that I have found.

They are good to look cool in uniform and the contruction and sole are solid.
However the materiel that is made of is fragile for rough terrain very susceptible to fray and get torn.
The inner sole is not that confortable for long term use, is kind of thin and not really cushioned.
I always try to go to a store and try the model before I purchase it. In this case I normally use 8W and with this boot I had to purchase a 7W and still fitted a little bit long, which made it worse, was the feeling of constantly having my feet shift inside. Anybody that has rucked before knows you can't have that because it will destroy your feet.
I did not want to judge from wearing them a few minutes on the store, so I purchased them to test them properly. Let's just say I confirmed my doubts and won't be using them anymore.
Obviously the boots could not be returnes as they have been used so I found a friend whk wanted them and did a trade.
I don't recommend this boot for tactical environments, I will be sticking to Merrell' civilian style boots for that.
To the people of Merrel, your company has a great reputation and make great shoes.
However If you already don't do this, in my opinion, I feel the tactical line needs work and should be tested by the people on the profession that is trying to reach, because on the field or a normal deployment, boots won't be treated like in a QA/QC lab and will give you better feedback.

Bought a pair of these couple months ago based on recommendation of others in my department. Right out of the box something was wrong with the right shoe specifically in the arch. Very uncomfortable, like it had extra material or high arch. I went as far as using insoles from other boots to try and make them more appealing....no such luck that only made the boots snugger and hurt my toes. Ive sense put original insoles back in and suffer through the day. I tried extra tight, extra loose nothing seems to work. Ive worn Salomon, Lowa, Red Wing, Bates and Rocky over the years...all were far better than these.
Will be my first and last pair. Only thing they have going are they seem to be pretty durable and handle rugged training and range days. Definitely not a warm boot once temperature drops also waterproofing could use some work....top foot area seemed to absorb light rain socks were damp.
Maybe I just got lemon of a pair but since bought though Pro account was told cant be returned or exchanged. Kind of expensive way to try out a new product/company

Purchased these boots little less then a year ago and the fabric in the heel along with heel construction came loose so when you take boot off fabric in heel comes up with foot.

I love Merrell boots, so comfortable and support. But the quality is something to be desired. These boots are a year old and were replacement of 8" boots. But the toes and sides are separating from the upper. I wear these daily for EMS calls. So they see severe conditions, but don't hold up.

I loved these boots but after 13 months of regular wear at work the soles started to separate from the boot. The tread has plenty of wear left and the boots are comfortable, but for the price they do not stand the test of time and are not covered by a warranty after a year.

The fit is much to large. I normally wear a 12 for other brands. These were much to big for me, especially the toe box. The lacing doesn't allow for tightening enough to address this. The only benefit I can see to the extra space is that in the winter I could wear heavy socks. But I didn't buy them to use as winter boots, I wanted a general hiking book. Aside from that, I can't really find much to appreciate. I know they are boots, but they feel uncoordinated and clunky.

Fresh out of the box, I thought I was getting the best pair of boots I had ever purchased. I was all smiles, the boots smelled like they were dropped from the heavens. And I couldn't WAIT to get to work!
I have owned a couple other pair of Merrell boots, and they eventually fall apart, as all types do. But these were the almighty waterproof TACTICAL boots!!...I thought for sure I had hit the jackpot with these bad boys!...AND in all black?!?... awesome.
Well, no. Not so awesome. At all, actually.
5 days of wearing them...they are not waterproof, and they are fraying ALREADY in a couple spots...I am so disappointed.
And on top of that, I was told a specific date, TWICE, and waited and extra week to receive them. So this has truly been not a good experience.
Even if only 1 out of every 100 pairs of these boots are dysfunctional...I got the 1 pair. And I am not happy.
Now I need a pair of LEGIT WATERPROOF TACTICAL comfortable boots...fairly priced of course!
... Completely open to suggestions!!

Had a pair of Moab that I wore for over 2 years and they stayed waterproof right until they wore out. Got the Moab Tactical in October 2019 and they were great in the beginning. My feet started to get wet in the November rains, I thought the water was running down my legs and getting my feet wet.. We had a slushy snowfall in December and both my feet were soaked after walking the dogs. I have gone back to my waterproof Chippewa boots because no one wants wet feet, especially in the winter. My right boot has a squeak in the heel now. These will end up being a summer boot.
Giving the boot a 2 rating because of the comfortable fit.
Would love to try another pair.

I went to a shop and tried a variety of boots on. Decided to go with these due to the weight, comfort, and the reputation of Merrell. This was the 1st Merrell product I have ever purchased and I was left disappointed. I bought these specifically for a 3 week advanced tactical training academy for my job and they didn't hold up as expected. At some point during one of the PT sessions a reasonable sized chunk of the sole split off. As much as these boots cost and with the Vibram sole I expected more. Not sure if this was a random occurrence but I was not pleased.

I have several pairs of Merrells and loved them. I bought these and wore them in an office, setting behind a desk for less than 6 months. The sole fell off. I contacted Merrell about the product and never heard back from them. I literally set behind a desk at work and these boots fell apart. I like Merrell boots, but will not buy these if Merrell will not stand behind them.
